On the weekend, when Bryan Hawkins doesn’t have to work, he is now fully switched to double days off. Bryan and Axel woke up happily together and sent Carolline Ruiz to work, then father and son stayed at their mother-in-law’s house.

Axel wanted to eat shrimp, Emily Hill went out to buy 1 kg of shrimp, and Bryan called someone to deliver a box of hairy crabs. This lunch was extremely sumptuous, with both shrimp and crabs, and Axel was the happiest.

Carolline came back and exclaimed that it was too extravagant. The hairy crabs from Suntar Lake were delicious but expensive. However, the best time to eat hairy crabs is in November.

But Emily Hill was good at steaming crabs, so even if it was not the season for eating hairy crabs, Carolline found them incredibly delicious.

There were ten hairy crabs in total, so each person had two.

"If you like eating crabs so much, let’s continue tonight," Bryan Hawkins whispered in Carolline’s ear.

Carolline didn’t refuse; she liked crabs, especially Suntar Lake hairy crabs. Before and after Mid-Autumn each year, her father’s friends would send several boxes of them. They usually kept two boxes for themselves, and their family of three all enjoyed eating them, only preferring the brand from Suntar Lake.

Also, Carolline thought that treating Bryan Hawkins to hairy crabs wouldn’t be too extravagant, and it would be a way to save face for him.

Emily and Henry Ruiz didn’t go, and Axel didn’t want to go either. He had been missing his grandparents and wanted to stay at their house for a couple of nights.

Carolline informed all the surgical nurses, off-duty colleagues from other departments, and doctors like Andy Aguirre who were not on the night shift. Megan Clifton naturally agreed to attend, knowing that Bryan Hawkins was hosting the event.

Charlotte Clark was also invited, mainly because Carolline and Bryan Cooper were hosting a big feast, not just for close friends. Despite not really liking Charlotte anymore, Carolline casually mentioned the invitation when they met, and Charlotte agreed to come.

At that moment, Carolline was a bit stunned; she thought that after their recent encounter, Charlotte wouldn’t agree to come. Charlotte asked if Carolline didn’t want to invite her, and Carolline could only respond sarcastically.

After all, they were colleagues, and one had to grin and bear it for appearances’ sake.

"Damn, you actually invited Charlotte?" Megan Clifton was the first to express displeasure upon hearing this.

"I ran into her, and she’s not working today, so I had to invite her. Also, you’re a pregnant woman, so please behave yourself and don’t use foul language," Carolline replied, rolling her eyes.

"Ugh, I can’t believe that bitch agreed to come," Megan Clifton grumbled, still unhappy.

"Watch your language. Our daughter won’t like hearing that," Andy Aguirre said disapprovingly. He was also a doting dad.

Carolline was speechless, and Megan was even more so. Megan had previously planned to have a pretty little princess to dress up and pair with Axel, which would be perfect.

Daughters were warm and intimate, while sons were naughty. Who knew what kind of daughter-in-law a son would bring home to irritate you?

So, overall, it’s better to have a daughter.

But now, seeing how much of a "daughter-slave" Andy Aguirre was, Megan suddenly didn’t want her unborn child to be a girl. Maybe having a boy was better, at least he wouldn’t compete with her for her husband’s attention.
