Chapter 470: Chapter 470: She is My Wife (6)

When she sent that text message, she didn’t mean to come between Bryan Hawkins and Carolline Ruiz’s relationship, after all, they were a married couple. She just felt a little indignant on behalf of Phoebe Miller, who had put in so much effort for this man before coming here.

Even if the two were destined to miss out on each other in this lifetime, she thought it would be better for this man to know what Phoebe Miller had done for him, rather than keeping it to herself.

No matter what this man thought, the only man Phoebe Miller had ever loved and cared about in her life was him. Even though she had once given him up for her ideals and ambitions, she also gave up her own love in the process.

It was only after Bryan Hawkins and Carolline Ruiz sat down that he received the text message from Selina Fleming. He took out his phone and read the very long message, taking quite some time to finish it.

As soon as Carolline entered the venue, Lottie Mitchell and the others gathered around her to chat. Carolline smiled and dealt with them gracefully, while Lottie genuinely praised her for looking so beautiful when dressed up, so stunning that it was hard to recognize her.

Carolline blushed a little. George Edwards didn’t approach her, but the look in his eyes proved that Lottie’s words were true: Carolline was indeed very beautiful.

"See? Dean Edwards may not speak, but his eyes completely betray his heart. He must be regretting now that he didn’t put enough effort into chasing you back then," said Lottie, who had a close relationship with Carolline and dared to say anything in front of her.

"Stop talking nonsense," Carolline glared at her. She was married now, and it would be awful if Bryan heard such talk. She had just learned how jealous Bryan could be.

Last time at her grandfather’s house, her cousin wanted to express gratitude by hugging her, but that man stopped him in his tracks.

When Carolline looked over at Bryan Hawkins, Lottie laughed, "Alright, alright, I’ll stop. That’s true, you’re a married woman now. Even if Dean Edwards regrets his past actions, it’s too late."

Carolline didn’t say anything, but her gaze at Bryan seems a bit blank. Someone nudged Lottie at the side and told her to stop talking.

Carolline didn’t speak, not because of Lottie’s words, but because she noticed Bryan’s expression. There was something strange about it, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on what exactly it was. All she knew was that Bryan’s expression felt weird.

He held his phone in his hand, flipping through it continuously. He must have been reading a text message. It seemed quite long, and she had no idea who sent it, but he was so focused on it that he didn’t even realize she was watching him.

"Carolline, the party is about to start. We’re going back to our seats," Lottie said to her.

Carolline nodded. After they left, she returned to her own seat as well. Bryan had finished reading the text message by then, and seeing her come back, he held her hand in his, "Done catching up with them?"

"Mhm." Carolline nodded, thinking he must have been preoccupied with the text message, not expecting him to pay any attention to them. But, he still noticed.

"Is that the deputy dean who pursued you before at your hospital?" Bryan Hawkins was talking about George Edwards, who had been watching Carolline attentively earlier, which Bryan had witnessed.

If it weren’t for the fact that he was Carolline’s colleague, he would have had Xavier Estrada go up and remind that man not to covet a woman he shouldn’t be pursuing.

"..." Carolline didn’t say anything, as unexpectedly he noticed that while reading the text message. "He never said anything to me. It’s just gossip that spread around, nothing more than rumors."
