Chapter 448: Chapter 448: Returning Early (8)
Both of them were oblivious to it all.
Later, Simon Carrington accompanied Daisy Willow to the Cosmetics Store to pick out a skincare product for Daisy’s sister-in-law. In return, Daisy accompanied Simon to the Toy Store and chose a few toys.
The three of them looked so harmonious together that even the shop owner believed they were a family, with a couple taking their child out to shop and buy toys, creating such a heartwarming scene.
Due to the owner’s misconception, Daisy Willow’s face reddened as she quickly tried to explain. She was on the verge of divorce, so it didn’t matter to her, but Simon, with his happy and harmonious family life, couldn’t be misunderstood like this.
Simon didn’t say much, smiling as he picked out a couple of toys that Elena Duncan liked and gave them to her. Elena was very well-behaved and promptly thanked Uncle Simon.
The shop owner finally believed Daisy’s explanation that they were not a family of three.
After buying the toys, the trio left the Toy Store together. The owner looked at them again, finding it hard to believe that such a harmonious trio was not a real family.
Daisy had bought quite a few things, but not so many that she couldn’t carry them herself. However, Simon, being a gentleman, helped her carry many of them and escorted Daisy and her daughter home. The person who had been secretly following them captured photos of the three of them entering the Residential Area together.
Since the management of the Residential Area Henry Ruiz bought was quite strict, the person trying to take pictures couldn’t enter, so he had given up after taking several photos from outside. After going through the pictures, he sent them to his employer and left the area, taking a taxi away.
Simon accompanied the mother and daughter upstairs. It was getting late, so Daisy thanked him without inviting him inside. He had no intention of staying either. Once he saw them safely enter their apartment, he took the elevator downstairs.
When Daisy and Elena opened the door, Celia Wade was already in the living room. She saw Daisy come in carrying several bags and exclaimed, "Hey, you bought so much stuff and even brought Elena along! Why didn’t you call me? I was waiting for your call."
Celia had logged off early, expecting that Daisy would buy some things for her family since she hadn’t been home in a long time. Afraid that Daisy might be too burdened, Celia had been waiting for her call. However, Daisy ended up carrying everything herself and came back as if she were Superwoman.
"Uncle Simon brought us here," Elena, who never lied, told the truth directly. "Auntie Celia, Uncle Simon even bought me a beautiful Barbie doll."
Simon had bought two sets, giving one to her and saving the other for his own daughter.
"Uncle Simon?" Celia didn’t know who Simon Carrington was, so her brows furrowed together. Had Daisy’s second spring arrived before her divorce was even finalized?
"He’s the lawyer Carolline found for me," Daisy explained, noticing Celia’s mischievous smile and realizing that she had misunderstood. "He’s happily married with children."
"Oh, so he already told you about it." Celia couldn’t help but continue teasing, being a naturally gossipy person.
Daisy ignored her, carrying her purchases into the room. "I’m going to pack. Elena, wait here for Mommy. I’ll be out soon to help you take a bath."
"..." Celia chuckled and said to Elena, "Your mommy is so shy. She’s just so adorable."
"..." Elena didn’t quite understand. Wasn’t ’adorable’ usually used to describe little girls?
Celia switched the TV to a children’s channel for Elena to watch. Ten minutes later, Daisy emerged from her room. With an early morning ahead, the mother and daughter went to bathe before going to sleep in their room.
Celia was also sleepy. After they finished bathing, she took a bath herself before retiring to her room. Before going to bed, she reminded Daisy to be careful and call them if she needed anything.
At the same time, Cole Duncan’s mother looked at the photos sent to her by the detective, her face pale with anger. They’d received the lawyer’s letter sent in Simon Carrington’s name, so Daisy Willow was indeed planning to fight them in court.
The company’s lawyers were useless, with all of them cowering before the mere mention of the name Simon Carrington, unwilling to take on the lawsuit. In frustration, Cole’s mother ordered him to fire them all.
Eventually, she found someone willing to represent them through a few well-connected friends. Following this person’s advice, she tried to find leverage against Daisy while waiting for the court date to be scheduled.
The person hinted quite clearly. That’s why Cole’s wife hired a private detective to follow Daisy.
She knew that having these photos was normal and would greatly help her. However, she couldn’t help but be angry that Daisy had gotten involved with another man so soon after leaving their family.
After all, her son didn’t want to divorce this woman. If it weren’t for Daisy’s insistence, he wouldn’t even have considered finding a lawyer, hoping to negotiate a settlement privately until they received the lawyer’s letter.
Cole’s mother stormed into his room, showing him the photos on her phone one by one. "Cole, listen to me, don’t entertain any foolish ideas about that woman. Look how she laughs with another man, and how intimate they are. Can you dare say she hasn’t cuckolded you within your marriage? This is her adulterous lover, and these are the evidence."
"..." Cole looked at the photos, his heart aching. But who could he blame?
Thinking back to when Daisy loved him and he made headlines with other women, Daisy’s heart must have been in a similar state or even worse.
It’s true that people can’t understand others’ feelings until they’ve experienced the same thing, only then can they put themselves in someone else’s shoes.
"Mom, I’m tired. I want to rest," said Cole, closing his eyes, unwilling to engage further with his mother.
Seeing her son’s lifeless demeanor, Cole’s mother was furious. All of this was caused by that damned woman, Daisy Willow. She vowed not to let Daisy off easily.
Daisy Willow, just wait.
