Chapter 378: Chapter 378: Coming for a Blind Date (7)
In the end, Nancy Sallow apologized to Avery very seriously.
"..." Avery was dumbfounded. First, she didn’t think Nancy was the type to apologize easily. Secondly, was such a solemn apology too much?
Moreover, from the perspective of a mother, she thought that Nancy was simply caring about her son, so she didn’t really have any faults.
From her point of view, she naturally felt that Nancy’s actions were overboard and hurt her dignity.
"Avery, you don’t accept it?" Nancy Sallow waited for a long time and didn’t get any response from Avery, feeling a little unhappy, but she didn’t show it.
"No, I accept it, Mrs. Taylor. I just think it’s unnecessary. It’s Bernard who’s making a big deal out of nothing. If there’s nothing else, I’ll leave first." Avery smiled, suddenly knowing who made Mrs. Taylor apologize to her.
All mothers can’t resist their sons, right?
What exactly did Bernard want by letting his mother apologize to her? Did he think that if his mother apologized, things between them would change?
Impossible, she would never like him.
"Let me give you a ride. I have nothing to do anyway. Where are you going?" Nancy thought since she was free, why not do a good deed to the end? She was happy to see Avery go on a date.
Even though Bernard said he wanted to marry Avery, it was just his wishful thinking. Nancy thought it was simple: as long as Avery got married, her son should stop bothering her.
Seeing that Nancy was sincere, Avery didn’t refuse.
After telling the address, Nancy let the driver and butler take Avery there. At the same time, she surreptitiously turned off the recording on her phone.
When Avery arrived, she realized she hadn’t texted her cousin yet. Instead of texting, she just called her cousin, who predictably said she was busy and gave her the private room number, telling her to handle it alone.
She had guessed this would happen when she agreed, and it turned out she was right.
Avery’s mood was still good. Whether or not Bernard forced his mother to apologize to her, the fact that a well-off woman like Nancy could lower her head and apologize to her felt good.
The Chinese Restaurant was the best Chinese restaurant in G City. The chefs here were on par with those in hotels. The only difference was the presentation wasn’t as delicate and beautiful as hotel chefs, but the taste and aroma were all there. Those who came here to eat would always come back for more.
So, whenever it was mealtime, the Main Hall was crowded, and those with some money would book the private rooms on the second floor in advance.
As Avery walked in, a receptionist came up to her, smiling, "Lady, do you have a reservation?"
"Yes, Mr. Kent Auclair has one." Avery replied with a smile.
"This way, please." The receptionist led Avery to the private room Kent had reserved.
Kent Auclair hadn’t arrived yet, so Avery sat in the room playing with her phone. There was air conditioning inside, but she still found it stuffy. That’s why she liked dining in the Main Hall instead of private rooms when she came to the Chinese Restaurant. The air in the private rooms wasn’t as good.
Plus, the private room fee was expensive. She always thought that paying an extra fee for a private room when dining out was extremely uneconomical.
After Kent received a text message from Avery’s cousin, he called Avery and told her that his company had a half-hour meeting for their managers, and he was now stuck in rush hour traffic. He asked her to wait a bit, and if she was hungry, she could go ahead and order something to eat.
