Chapter 374: Chapter 374: Coming for a Blind Date (3)

Daisy Willow assisted Cole Duncan to urinate without wearing a mask or gloves. The loud, continuous sound of urine wasn’t small, but Cole didn’t feel embarrassed about this private matter in front of Daisy. He would never let the caretaker or the nanny handle such an intimate task.

After Cole finished, Daisy poured the urine into the toilet, then washed her hands and helped him pull up his pants. She also cleaned him up before pushing him to get prepared to head out. Throughout this, Cole was watching her every move, but she didn’t give him a single smile or glance in return.

"Daisy, did my mom yell at you again?" Cole asked, without hinting at cooperation, he held onto Daisy’s hand and looked at her.

"..." Daisy Willow didn’t want to talk. The incident of Cole’s mother scolding her was not a new occurrence; it had happened countless times. Cole always implored her to yield to his mother, to accommodate her challenges, emphasizing how difficult life had always been for his mother.

When Daisy had loved him, she could at least appreciate his mother for who she was. She knew that being a single woman and raising a son on her own wasn’t easy. But when exactly had she stopped loving him, she wondered?

It had probably started when Cole, in his desire for a son, began spending less and less time at home and with Elena, which chilled Daisy’s heart each day more than the last.

She now understood clearly that even if the car accident hadn’t happened to Cole and Jane Auclair, she would still have asked for a divorce. However, she had not expected that they would experience such an incident at this particular time.

"No, don’t worry about it." Daisy said, her voice sounding somewhat indifferent. She was no longer the young girl who used to visibly wear her heart on her sleeve whenever she was with Cole.

She was a college graduate and when she started working for the Duncan Family, on her first day, she accidentally used Cole Duncan’s private elevator. She had no idea then that he was the boss of Duncan Family. Through a remarkable twist of fate, she had ended up catching his eye. A month later, she was promoted to be his personal secretary and they naturally fell into an intimate relationship.

As she got to know Cole better, she was increasingly drawn towards his capability. While not particularly handsome, he managed to win over Daisy’s heart. In return, Cole was attracted by Daisy’s amiability and kindness. Despite her not very privileged background, he did not mind in the least.

He was no silver-spoon-fed rich young master who needed to marry someone of his own standing. What he wanted was a gentle, family-oriented, obediant woman like Daisy. She was everything he had wished for in a wife, and so, without much hesitation, he married her.

Mrs. Duncan was not fond of Daisy initially, even if she did not dislike her as much as she did now. But Daisy was particularly good to her, so she turned a blind eye to the marriage, expecting Daisy to bear children for Cole and spread the Duncans’ lineage.

But it so happened that Daisy could only conceive Elena. After a severe hemorrhage during childbirth, she had to have her uterus removed to save her life. Being an ’incomplete’ woman, she was naturally disliked more by Mrs. Duncan. Yet her son was adamant about not divorcing Daisy, and allowed her to take Mrs. Duncan’s place. The old woman’s growing dissatisfaction started to show, and she gradually treated Daisy poorly, which extended to Elena as well.

To restore the peace at home, Cole started to comply with his mother’s will. Daisy, though being his wife, was treated as his mistress.

Before this, it so was that a woman called Jane Auclair was occasionally staying at the villa. Daisy knew about this because her mother-in-law would intentionally tell her about it on the phone, and Cole did not bother hiding it from her either.
