Chapter 357: Chapter 357: Frequency Problem (3)

"...I want to drink some water." The moment the words left her mouth, Carolline was stunned, not realizing how hoarse her voice had become. It sounded like she was a starving woman, eagerly anticipating this very night for a long time.

"Okay." Bryan Hawkins bent down to kiss her hair and then went to the drinking fountain to pour her a glass of water. Handing it to her, he said, "Drink up, the temperature is just right."

Gulping it down, Carolline didn’t know if it was genuine thirst or nervousness that made her chug the entire glass of water so quickly. Bryan chuckled lightly and asked, "Want more?"

Water, available in unlimited supply.

"Yes." Carolline didn’t hesitate, asking for another glass. She really was too thirsty – that last glass had left her feeling like it wasn’t enough.

With a good temperament, Bryan stood up and fetched her another glass. As he handed it to her, he gently reminded her, "You’re a nurse, you should know better. Drink slowly, don’t rush."

"..." Carolline’s face turned red, and she started to drink the second glass more slowly.

Bryan sat down on the single-seat sofa, gently pulling Carolline onto his lap. He held her small hand in his large one, caressing her soft, fair skin. "Don’t be nervous, your husband isn’t a brute."

"Pft—" Carolline couldn’t help herself as she choked on her water, spraying a mouthful across Bryan’s expensive carpet.

Undeterred, Bryan was more concerned about whether she was okay or not. He took the glass from her hand and set it on the coffee table. "Are you alright?"

Unable to speak, Carolline shook her head to indicate she was fine.

"Did I say something to upset you? Why were you so agitated?" Bryan didn’t think his words had triggered the incident. He lamented the fact that she couldn’t even drink water without causing a commotion.

She would need his care for the rest of her life.

Of course, Carolline had no idea what Bryan was thinking at the moment. If she knew, she would definitely choke on her water again. "I’ll go take a bath first."

"Wait a moment. Do you know the meaning behind the bracelet that Grandma gave you?" Bryan wasn’t in a hurry. He picked up the silk box Carolline had placed on the table earlier, took out the jade bracelet inside, and asked her, "Is it very valuable?"

"Are you asking about its worth? It’s not expensive, just an ordinary jade bracelet. But it was the first gift my grandfather gave my grandmother. My grandmother treasures it very much. Now, her giving it to you means that she holds you in high regard too." In truth, accepting this jade bracelet also signified becoming a part of the Hawkins family.

However, after Carolline first received the bracelet, she incredibly returned it. So even though he was nearly on fire with desire, hugging his wife, some things still needed to be clarified.

"I know." Carolline replied softly, looking down. She respected her grandmother very much and couldn’t help but feel emotional about the significant meaning behind the bracelet. The love between her grandparents was incredibly strong.

And she had dared to return such a profoundly meaningful bracelet.

"As long as you know. Promise me that you’ll take good care of it, okay?" Bryan whispered softly.

"Yes." Carolline made the promise. Her obedience made Bryan incapable of holding back any longer, as he pulled her into a passionate embrace and tenderly engaged her in a lingering kiss.

Carefully clutching the jade bracelet, Carolline eagerly responded to his kisses. Just as they were both gasping for breath, Bryan lifted her skirt, but Carolline pushed him away, causing him to frown in dissatisfaction. "Hold on, let me put the bracelet away first."
