Chapter 331: Chapter 331: Carolline Ruiz Gets Angry (3)

After hearing these gossips, she was really speechless. If she hadn’t learned about the connection between this family and Elena Duncan later on, she would not have listened to Liu Changfu’s words at all.

She thought, at worst, if she offended Liu Changfu, she would just quit her job.

For the first time, Carolline Ruiz thought impulsively that if she really couldn’t continue working, she would go to Avery Graham and invest all of her savings in Avery’s Cake Shop, helping Avery to run the business.

Carolline knew she was thinking too far ahead. After reeling her thoughts back in, she became more worried about Elena, wondering what Lady Shen would say to Elena after taking her back to the Duncan Family.

"Is he really Elena’s dad?" Emily Hill thought it was just a coincidence that they share the same name. Sigh, how did Elena encounter such a thing?

"It’s more than that. That woman is Cole Duncan’s mistress, and she even has a relationship with Dean Liu." Carolline couldn’t believe that the seemingly upright Dean Liu had such a scandalous private life.

People really shouldn’t be judged by their appearances.

"Well, who is clean among those in high positions? This is also why your father has only aimed to be a surgeon in his life; it’s simple and clean." Emily Hill shook her head, not wanting to know more about these matters.

Carolline didn’t say anything either. This topic was a bit heavy for them, especially since it involved Axel’s good friend.

They felt pity for the young girl Elena.

At 7:30, as Carolline had nothing else to do at home, she went to work early.

There were people working the night shift in the Surgical Department, so she only needed to be in charge of the wards for Cole Duncan and Jane Auclair. She first went to see Jane’s ward, because after the amputation, she needed to keep an eye on the wound for potential inflammation.

When Joanna Auclair saw Carolline arrive, she wasn’t as respectful to her as she had been to Henry Ruiz, but she wasn’t bossy either.

Carolline checked on Jane’s condition and then Lottie Mitchell handed over the shift, telling her that Jane needed to finish one more bottle of IV fluid after the current one. There was still more than half a bottle left.

"Nurse, when can I leave the hospital?" Jane Auclair had been lying in bed for a day and a night, unable to move. She wanted to know what had happened to Cole Duncan.

She had been carrying a child for several months, and now it was gone. Her child’s father wasn’t there, nor was his mother. What did the Duncan Family want to do?

Her anger was about to explode. She saw only her mother, servants, and the people in white coats every day, nobody else.

"You’ll have to ask your doctor in charge for that. Based on your condition, those who have undergone such surgery should stay in the hospital for at least a week of observation." Carolline replied patiently.

"What about Cole Duncan?" Jane blurted out. Even though Carolline had told her that Cole might be left with half-body paralysis, she still wanted to hold on to him. After googling on her phone, she learned that if his caregiver took good care of him, he could recover. In other words, people like Daisy Willow, who are extremely thoughtful, would probably find a way to help Cole recover.

Therefore, she couldn’t give up on Cole. Now that she was in this state, she had to secure one person first.

"It will be about half a month." Carolline finished her sentence and left the ward.

"Why are you still thinking about that man?" Joanna disapproved. Her daughter might have lost her looks and her right leg, but with advanced technology, plastic surgery had matured. If she went to H Country for a minor cosmetic operation and got a prosthetic leg, she would be almost like a normal person. But Cole Duncan—his life was probably ruined.
