Chapter 312: Chapter 312: Little Girlfriend (1)

Carolline Ruiz had slept late last night, and this morning she didn’t even have time for breakfast. The most annoying thing was that every time she tried to get up, she was pulled back into bed by someone, who kept asking her if her period had ended today.

She wanted to slap his face; who would think about that all day long?

Eventually, she couldn’t take it anymore and screamed that she was about to be late, but he still didn’t care, "If you’re late, you’re late. If you have to quit, I can support you. It’s not like I can’t afford it."

That made Carolline completely angry. She loved her job. It was not only a source of income for her but also her dream. She wouldn’t just quit because he said so.

Seeing that Carolline was genuinely angry, Bryan Hawkins stopped joking and let her get up. He got up as well and drove her to work.

Today, he also had to go to the Hawkins Family office. He originally had an appointment on Friday, but since he wanted to get off work on time to pick up Axel, he had rescheduled it to Sunday.

They would meet in the afternoon, talk for a while, then go to her mother’s house to pick up Axel and Carolline together. The timing was just perfect.

"Honey, I won’t see you for several hours. Can you give me a goodbye kiss before I go?" Carolline was preparing to get out of the car, and Bryan Hawkins was begging pitifully by her side.

"..." Carolline frowned suspiciously. Was this the Bryan Hawkins she knew? Something seemed off.

"Alright, never mind if you don’t want to. Don’t forget to schedule our next day off for a check-up at the hospital, and don’t make any other plans." Bryan Hawkins reminded her, knowing she had many people to care for now, so he wanted to make arrangements in advance.

"Yeah, I know. I’m going now." Carolline waved and then quickly ran towards the hospital.

Before they remarried, she used to arrive early for her shift, but since the remarriage, she could barely arrive on time, and she felt very ashamed.

People who didn’t know better might think she and Bryan Hawkins were spending too much time together at home every day. Everyone looked at her like a monkey when she came to work.

Just as Carolline got into the elevator, George Edwards entered as well. Everyone outside the elevator saw George and quickly made up excuses to leave. Carolline took the initiative to greet him.

Since their conversation outside George’s office with Megan Clifton last time, she felt quite awkward. Luckily, they hadn’t seen each other since then.

That’s why some people say that chance encounters aren’t really fateful.

"When are you planning to have your wedding ceremony?" George asked, understanding now why Carolline had rejected him so firmly; with a man like Bryan Hawkins in her past, no other man could catch her eye.

"At the end of the year." This was Bryan Hawkins’ plan, and she always listened to him, so whenever he said it was fine with her.

"Don’t forget to invite me then." George said casually, being a rational person; he knew that there was no hope with Carolline, so he wouldn’t waste any more energy on her.

Truth be told, he had chosen to pursue Carolline before because he thought that a divorced woman with a child would be easy to win over. However, she had never accepted any of his invitations.

He hadn’t expected Carolline’s ex-husband to be someone like Bryan Hawkins, and that they would remarry.

"Okay." Carolline nodded, feeling relieved that she could still talk to George like this.

The elevator reached Carolline’s floor, and she stepped out. George watched her back as he closed the elevator door.
