Chapter 284: Chapter 284: They All Want to Do Well (6)
"A little." Bryan Hawkins was still grinning foolishly.
"..." Carolline Ruiz couldn’t be bothered to deal with him, insisting on pulling her hand back. Bryan didn’t force her to stay, so he let go. Carolline turned her head to look out the window and found that the car was driving toward the villa in Bluen Lake Wonderland.
"What are you doing?" Carolline was a bit angry. Her parents might have said that, but she hadn’t asked to spend the night outside with him. He took the initiative to have the driver bring them here.
"Let’s clear up where the misunderstanding arose from." Bryan looked deeply into her eyes and said calmly.
In Bluen Lake Wonderland, Carolline presented him with the divorce agreement, and that was when their misunderstanding began. Due to their work later on, the misunderstanding not only failed to dissipate but also deepened, leading to their current situation.
"..." Carolline began to understand his thoughts, falling silent in acceptance.
Soon, the car arrived at the villa. Bryan got out, had the driver leave, and then walked hand-in-hand with Carolline. The moonlight that night was lovely, and the alternating warm orange glow of streetlights bathed their surroundings in a tranquil, serene atmosphere.
It was just like Bryan’s current state of mind, feeling grounded while holding Carolline’s hand.
"It’s been five years, Carolline. I’ve been missing you a lot during these five years." Suddenly, Bryan spoke and the hand in his palm trembled slightly.
"..." She wanted to say the same, but for some reason, the words stuck at the edge of her lips, refusing to come out. She wanted to ask about Phoebe Miller, but at that moment, she realized she was still the same old, weak Carolline. "Why didn’t you come back even once?"
"Would you believe me if I said I didn’t dare?" Bryan sighed helplessly. Even he found it hard to believe given his normally fearless nature, let alone Carolline.
"...I don’t believe." Carolline shook her head, refusing to accept that Bryan could be afraid.
Instead, she believed he didn’t miss her as much as he claimed or cared about her as deeply. After all, she wasn’t the woman who had left such a profound impact on him, was she?
Was it disappointment? Not quite.
"Heh, I knew you would say that." Bryan looked at her and chuckled, pushing her to the front door. "Enter the password."
Carolline tried the old password, and with a soft ding, the door opened.
Bryan chuckled again, leaving Carolline feeling like he’d been unusually full of laughter that night. They entered the house, where their servant, who’d been resting in his room, emerged. Seeing them, he looked astonished, "Sir, ma’am, you’re back?"
The same servant from before was still there. Neither of them had returned in the past five years, yet Bryan had continued to pay their wages and let them keep working here.
Even their titles for the couple hadn’t changed.
"Yes, you can all rest now. We don’t need anything for the time being." Bryan nodded at the servant.
Hand in hand, Carolline and Bryan headed straight upstairs. On the first floor were the kitchen and the nanny’s room, while the master bedroom was on the second floor. The second floor also had a more luxurious living room, a spacious open-air balcony, and a guest room.
There were several guest rooms on the third floor, and each level had a changing room. The second floor also had a small, exquisite kitchen.
Bryan went to the kitchen to make two cups of coffee. While they were waiting, Carolline sat in the living room, noting that nothing had changed since her last memory of this place.
