He smiled at her and said, "Don’t worry, I’m not too full. I haven’t eaten properly all day, so I’m really hungry. Now I’m finally satisfied."

Carolline Ruiz kept her mouth shut, wanting to deny that she was worried about him being too full. After thinking about it, she decided that silence was golden; otherwise, speaking too much might lead to mistakes.

At first, she didn’t care, but in the end, she might be misunderstood by someone as caring about him.

When it came to the dessert, Carolline Ruiz symbolically took a bite and couldn’t eat anymore. Axel, on the other hand, loved it. Even if he was destined to grow up to be a male god-like figure, when a male god is still a child, they can’t resist the temptation of some delicious food.

So, when Axel, the little male god, was a kid, he was also a foodie.

This time, not only did he willingly eat all his ice cream, but he also ate Carolline’s. In the end, he smacked his lips a couple of times, savoring the taste.

By the end of the meal, all three of them had round, full bellies. Although they had wasted a lot of food, Bryan Hawkins was happy, and so was Axel, especially because he got to eat and take away some food.

"Grandma also really likes cake." Seeing the cake, Axel’s performance confirmed to Carolline Ruiz that he wasn’t ungrateful. For example, at this moment, he still remembered that cake was his grandmother’s favorite food.

"Then let’s pack another one." said Bryan Hawkins to the waiter. He didn’t even take Emily Hill into consideration and only thought about the mother and son. After all, Carolline liked nut cake, so he ordered that for her.

"No need, two is enough. They are one for each grandmother and grandson." Carolline hurriedly stopped him.

"The nut cake is yours," insisted Bryan Hawkins.

"I can’t eat anymore, even if I like it, I can’t eat a single bite." Carolline sighed. She liked it, but she wouldn’t eat so much that she would end up in the hospital just to satisfy her taste buds.

If that happened, it would be so embarrassing; she couldn’t afford to lose face like that.

So, she couldn’t eat anymore, not even a single bite.

"Alright then." Bryan Hawkins took out his wallet and swiped his card to pay for the meal.

They spent nearly two hours eating their meal. Henry Ruiz had already called saying, "Carolline, where are you? Axel has school tomorrow, and it’s almost eight o’clock. He needs to take a bath. Before long, it’ll be nine o’clock."

Nine o’clock was Carolline’s designated bedtime for Axel. This was primarily because Axel needed to drink milk before going to bed. Sometimes he would play until 8:30 before drinking, so she gave him an extra half hour to digest it.

Today, he probably wouldn’t need to drink the bedtime milk. The cake would have to wait until tomorrow morning.

"Yes, we’re coming home now, Dad." Hanging up the phone, Carolline checked the time. "Axel, it’s 7:50. We should go home now. You have school tomorrow, and you still need to take a bath. Nine o’clock will be here before you know it."

"Oh." Axel knew this too, and he picked up his little backpack from the side. "Dad, do you want to come home with us and tell me a bedtime story? I like to hear stories before I go to bed every night. I’ve gotten tired of the stories from Grandpa, Grandma, and Mom."

The purpose of saying so much was to entice Bryan Hawkins to come back home. He knew his dad was busy, and he didn’t know when he’d see him again after today. He was afraid that the next time they met would be in another five years, and he would miss him a lot then.

"Uh, I..." Bryan Hawkins naturally wanted to join them, and if it were just the two of them living alone, he would definitely follow them home without hesitation.

But the problem was, Carolline and Axel were living with their grandparents now. How could he just barge in uninvited? He wanted to, but he was afraid of not being welcomed.
