Chapter 245: Chapter 245: I’m Not Leaving (2)
"Let go of me first. The security guard needs to get off work, and Axel can’t stay there." Carolline wanted to leave, but someone was holding her hand tight, seemingly lost in thought. Carolline had to speak up to remind him.
Bryan Cooper finally let go of Carolline’s hand, and she walked forward. In a short time, Bryan caught up with her, and when Carolline arrived, Axel was already holding Bryan’s hand.
"Let’s have dinner together, Carolline?" Bryan suggested, having had a casual breakfast and lunch today. He wanted to treat his wife and son to a rich dinner.
"I’m busy tonight..." Carolline subconsciously wanted to refuse. In fact, she didn’t have anything going on, but she was worried about Celia Wade’s poor health. She had originally planned to take Axel to Celia’s house and cook dinner for her.
"Mom, you said we shouldn’t lie. You’re not working the night shift tonight. Let’s invite grandpa and have dinner with dad, okay?" Axel thought Carolline would say she had to work the night shift, so he immediately exposed her.
The reason Axel remembered Carolline’s night shifts so clearly was that when she worked, she couldn’t tell him bedtime stories. He preferred Carolline’s bedtime stories.
"..." What an ungrateful son! For a moment, Carolline felt that she had raised him in vain for over five years. She gave Axel a white-eyed look. Had she ever said she was going to lie?
"That’s right. Our son said we shouldn’t lie. As parents, we should set a good example." Bryan also sided with Axel, and the father and son teamed up to criticize Carolline.
"Axel, I wanted to go see your Auntie Celia tonight. She lives alone and doesn’t have anyone to take care of her. She had a fever and had to have an IV in the ward recently. I’m worried no one will cook for her tonight, so I talked to your grandpa beforehand. We’ll go buy some groceries and cook for her at her place. What do you think?"
Carolline ignored Bryan. This matter, even though she hadn’t actually arranged it with Celia, she had a spare key to the house. Besides, Celia’s fever was a fact, and moreover, this was what she had planned before she got off work.
"Ah? Auntie Celia has a fever?" Axel’s little hand suddenly let go of Bryan and took two steps towards Carolline, looking up with his small head, very worried about Celia Wade. "Let’s go to Auntie Celia’s house."
Axel thought about how everyone was very worried about him when he was sick. When he had a fever, his body was soft, and he didn’t want to move at all. He thought Auntie Celia must be very uncomfortable too.
"Wait, dad." Axel seemed to think of something and suddenly turned around. "Dad, I’m sorry, but let’s have dinner together next time. Auntie Celia is sick, and I want to see her first."
"Alright." Bryan stepped forward to pat Axel’s head, smiling with affection, and then looked at Carolline. "Where is Celia’s house? I’ll give you a ride."
"I know. It’s where mom stayed when she gave birth to me. Come on, dad, I’ll show you the way." Without waiting for Carolline to answer, Axel said out loud.
Perhaps guessing that his father was too busy to know where he was born, he took the initiative to tell him that Auntie Celia’s current residence was where he first grew up.
"Alright, you lead the way." Father and son left Carolline behind and agreed on a plan.
In the end, Carolline had to abandon her idea of taking a taxi and followed the handsome father and son quietly. As they walked, she sent Celia a voice message.
Bryan’s car was parked not far ahead in the parking lot. When they arrived, Axel rushed to take the passenger seat. Carolline never thought of fighting with her son for it and directly opened the back door of the car. Seeing the back seat filled with children’s things, both Carolline and Axel were momentarily stunned.
