Chapter 238: Chapter 238 Father and Son Meet (4)

Phoebe Miller never tried to contact him over the years, even though she once gained fame thanks to his words. Instead, during her time in the spotlight, she started numerous charity projects, becoming increasingly successful.

Perhaps their destinies had come to an end, as both of them traveled the world, yet they hadn’t crossed paths once in five years.

However, he didn’t feel any regret. Instead, he paid more attention to Carolline Ruiz and somehow knew everything happening to her, even though he was not in G City.

For instance, he helped Jordy Wade during the big crisis of the Wade Family. Jordy was indebted to the Wade Family for their years of nurturing, and would never stand by as it was snatched away by others. Moreover, he cared so much for the Wade Family’s lady that he wouldn’t allow her belongings fall into others’ hands.

So, he was waiting for Jordy Wade to make a comeback, just like he once did.

Experiencing some ups and downs in one’s life may not be a bad thing after all.

As the saying goes, only after the storm comes the rainbow. But could he and Carolline see a rainbow again?

Back home, Bryan Hawkins couldn’t feel his grandmother’s warmth towards him. She had moved on from losing her husband, and with William Hawkins bringing Madelyn Lincoln home, she focused even more on the young girl.

He knew how much his grandmother used to adore Carolline and now she treasured Madelyn Lincoln just as much. He didn’t feel jealous; as long as his grandmother was happy, he felt content.

Initially, he thought his parents and grandmother needed his company, but on his first day home, he realized they didn’t. His grandmother had Madelyn’s company, and his parents had their own lives.

Bryan collected some items from the house, had dinner with his family, met Madelyn briefly, and then moved out to live in his apartment.

Occasionally, he went to Bluen Lake Wonderland, albeit for only a short while.

The clothes he had bought for Carolline were still new after all these years, with many still having tags on them. Out of twenty or thirty sets, Carolline had only worn about a tenth of them.

Even though they were a few years old, Bryan Hawkins had the clothes taken down and instructed the servants to deal with them.

He then left the villa, and went back to his apartment. The smaller space didn’t make him feel as lonely.

Carolline’s phone number was still etched in his mind. After dinner, with nothing much to do, he unconsciously dialed the number, and it was quickly picked up. The fact that Carolline hadn’t changed her number made him wonder if she had been waiting for his call all along.

He, however, had changed his number.

"Hello? Who is this? Mom’s taking a shower, I’m Axel—" Axel Hawkins had played so crazily during the day that he only realized he hadn’t finished his kindergarten assignment after having dinner. Carolline let him work on it in her room while she went for a bath.

"..." Bryan Hawkins was taken aback, not expecting that he would be speaking to Carolline’s child. No, it had been five years— Carolline’s child should be almost six years old by now.

As Axel’s childish voice came through, Bryan Hawkins felt inexplicably emotional, his heart constricting, unable to make a sound.

He wasn’t even sure how he had accidentally dialed the number, let alone what to say to Axel. What was his relationship to the child? An uncle, his mother’s friend?
