"Head nurse, the new female patient just admitted needs you to personally give her an IV drip. She’s in bed 12." Today is the weekend, and Henry Ruiz is off work. He and his wife have taken Axel to the zoo.

They claimed it was in celebration of Children’s Day, even though it was still two weeks away. Carolline was baffled, to say the least.

"Alright, I’ll be right there." Carolline took the sheet, turned off her phone that had been talking to Axel and went to the workshop to prepare the medicine.

A few minutes later, she arrived at bed 12 and was startled by the pale-faced Celia Wade. "Celia, why is it you? What happened?"

Since the Wade family’s scandal of ’brother-sister incest’ was exposed, the Wade family’s stock had plummeted, Jordy Wade was kicked out, and the family business was even more depressed under Celia’s father’s management. Celia herself had never studied economics or management, so she decided to find work and support herself, thinking that at least her education would be enough to sustain her without adding pressure to her father.

At least Carolline wouldn’t make her afraid, and she believed that Carolline was gentle and wouldn’t cause her too much pain.

"It’s just an illness," Celia said nonchalantly. She had long lost the arrogance of the young Miss Wade.

Separated for so long from the person she loved deeply, she didn’t even have the courage to face him knowing where he was, let alone trying to reconnect after everything that had happened between them.

It was impossible. Celia chose G City because Carolline’s family was there. They were probably the only people in the world who could understand and empathize with her predicament.

Even her father refused to forgive her for driving her own mother to death. But when she arrived in G City, Emily Hill embraced her warmly, telling her that time would heal all wounds, and her father would eventually forgive her.

However, after all this time, her father still didn’t want to see her face, let alone invite her home during the holidays. Even when she called him, he never answered but had the servant take the call instead.

"With such a high fever, I’m surprised it hasn’t fried your brain." Carolline felt Celia’s forehead and was taken aback by how hot it was - 38.9 degrees Celsius, nearly reaching 39. It was impressive that she could still speak so coherently.

"Bear with me, I’ll try to be gentle." Carolline knew Celia was sensitive to pain. When she was a child, Celia would scream the moment the nurse’s cotton swab touched her skin before receiving an injection. Everyone was amazed at her reaction.

Carolline was quite embarrassed at the time. No wonder her uncle and aunt never accompanied her to the hospital, and it was usually Jordy Wade who did.
