Chapter 234: Chapter 234: Time Flies (8)
Andy Aguirre and Megan Clifton were present, with Andy working in the kitchen and Megan helping set up the dining room. Hearing the knock on the door, Megan opened it, saw Axel and crouched down to give him a resounding kiss on his plump cheeks. "Axel, Auntie missed you so much!"
Axel slightly pursed his lips with a bit of disdain, and perfunctorily responded, "Auntie, I missed you too."
Then, he entered the house and directly threw himself into his grandfather Henry Ruiz’s arms, babbling nonstop with him.
"Why didn’t you tell me earlier that we were having dinner at your place tonight?" Carolline Ruiz stared at Megan, slightly complaining. Megan gave a smack to her forehead, "I only remembered it after I left you, sorry."
"..." Carolline suspiciously glared at Megan, bluntly saying, "They say being pregnant makes you a fool for three years, but you haven’t even become pregnant yet, and you’re already a fool?"
Megan immediately rolled her eyes; she simply forgot to remind her about dinner tonight, so why did it have anything to do with being a fool? In retaliation, she said, "When you were pregnant, were you a fool for more than three years?"
No one in the room took their bickering seriously; after all, they were used to it.
"Auntie, you’re bullying my mom again. I won’t let you!" Carolline had a flower protector, and it was little Axel who immediately defended his mother.
Though all his honorary aunts and aunts treated him very well, Axel was quite clear about the difference between his real mother and them. It was his mother who went through the pain of childbirth and took care of him, staying with him every day, and naturally, she was the person he loved and cherished the most.
"You ungrateful brat, when have I ever bullied her!" Megan put her hands on her hips and deliberately yelled at Axel.
Axel wasn’t afraid of her and held Carolline’s hand, "Let’s go, Mom, we shouldn’t bother with childish people."
"..." Megan was dumbfounded as she was suddenly upgraded to being childish. This kid, she loved him so much, but it turned out blood is always thicker than water.
"You should have your own baby soon." Before leaving, Carolline ’kindly’ comforted Megan.
Andy’s wife chose this moment to come out of the kitchen, and hearing Carolline encouraging her daughter-in-law again, she couldn’t express her happiness. Fearing her daughter-in-law might be upset, she immediately returned to the kitchen, asking Andy to serve the pot.
Megan didn’t expect Carolline’s words to be prophetic. The next month, her period mysteriously kept its distance, and then she really did have her own baby.
Soon, Emily Hill bought the wine and soy milk, and asked a master to help her bring them up to the fourth floor. She also bought a large watermelon, which was said to be for making juice. Megan immediately went to the kitchen to make watermelon juice.
Before long, the hot pot began to bubble in the dining room. Henry-Knight and Garth Aguirre started drinking wine. Andy Aguirre originally wanted to join them, but his wife didn’t allow it, telling him to abstain from alcohol.
Megan didn’t say anything. After all, she was used to her mother-in-law being obsessed with having a child, and she was too lazy to argue with her.
She poured two glasses of soy milk, gave one to Andy and kept one for herself, while Carolline and Axel drank watermelon juice.
As the two families gathered round to eat the steaming hot pot, on the other side of the ocean, someone began to grow tired of flying around every day.
In the room, after listening to the video conference, Bryan Hawkins closed his laptop wearily. Xavier Estrada instantly brought him a cup of coffee. While coffee perked him up, several cups a day didn’t seem to help Bryan.
"Xavier, how many years have we been flying?" Bryan took a sip of his coffee and motioned Xavier to sit opposite him. For the past few years, it had been Xavier who accompanied him daily.
One reason was that Bryan was used to Xavier’s presence, and the second was Xavier’s ability. For many matters, Xavier didn’t even need his guidance and could handle them independently.
"It should be around five years, right?" Xavier wasn’t very certain, but when counting the years, it should be about five years.
"Tired, aren’t you?" Bryan continued asking. He was a bit tired since his business was already in a stable growth phase, unlike when he first graduated and needed to expand aggressively.
"It’s you who should be tired, Boss." Xavier smiled. He was thirty-four this year, a year older than Bryan. Running around every day wasn’t really tiring, but considering that Bryan was always preoccupied, of course, he would be tired.
"You’re not young either; it’s time to have a relationship." Bryan suddenly changed the subject, and Xavier was dumbfounded for a long time.
"Ever since Boss announced his decision not to marry, I’ve also felt that being single for a lifetime is actually quite good." Xavier continued. If Bryan and Carolline couldn’t reconcile, then Bryan would never find a woman like Carolline again.
"Is being single for a lifetime really good?" Bryan suddenly wondered. When he thought about Phoebe Miller telling him she would never marry in this lifetime, he found it somewhat inconceivable.
However, even now, he still couldn’t understand the thoughts of that so-called ’unmarried’ group of people. A marriage certificate couldn’t even keep people together, so, without marrying, wouldn’t they simply vanish without a trace?
"Boss, are you thinking about Miss Carolline?" Xavier always spoke directly.
"..." Bryan didn’t say anything. Yes, he missed her. After so many years, he hadn’t forgotten her at all. He had tried other women too, but when it came to having an intimate relationship, he didn’t know why he would suddenly stop.
That’s why he had never denied the rumors that he had male dysfunction. He even felt it was probably true that he had problems in that aspect.
Because he had absolutely no interest in women, even if they lay naked in front of him.
"Book the flight tickets. We’re going back. Later, notify the hotel managers in each country that from now on, our office location will be fixed in G City, Z Country. Unless there are any particularly difficult issues to resolve, we’ll only fly for those. All other matters will be resolved through the internet, with video conferences every three months."
"Okay." Xavier was thrilled.
It was good that Boss decided to go back. Surely the old lady, the master, and the wife were all waiting for this day at home.
