Chapter 201: Chapter 201: Five Months Later (7)
On the way back, Carolline closed her eyes and pretended to sleep, with Bryan Hawkins’ figure filling her mind. It had been so long since they’d seen each other, and she truly missed him.
In a month, she could go back to G City. She even fantasized about whether things might change between them when Bryan saw her looking like this.
However, what Carolline didn’t know was that a month later, Bryan wouldn’t be in G City, making them miss each other once again.
Of course, she didn’t know that Bryan actually knew when she’d return and had deliberately avoided her because he worried that she might want to be with Andy Aguirre quickly and ask for a divorce. To this day, he was still unwilling to part ways, so he decided to just leave before Carolline came back.
That way, he had the excuse of not having time to go through the paperwork.
——Dividing Line——
On the day they departed, the villagers were reluctant to see them leave, presenting them with many gifts from their homes — fresh eggs, vegetables, wild pork, beef, and more.
The trio couldn’t refuse and accepted the kind offerings. Carolline’s belly was sticking out quite a bit, so the two men helped carry all the items.
When Carolline was about to board the vehicle, a group of children grabbed her clothes, crying and begging her not to leave. Carolline’s tears followed, "When I go back, I’ll send you presents and find kindhearted donors to help build a beautiful school for you all. Is that okay?"
"Yes!" All the children answered in unison.
When the government-appointed vehicle came to pick them up, they also sent a reporter from G City to cover the entire event.
Carolline and the children’s scene was captured on camera, and even the journalist thought it was lovely to record Carolline’s promise. Gratan Town was truly poor and needed government support to build infrastructure.
Fortunately, the town wasn’t located in a treacherous mountainous area but rather on flat land, where some development could take place, such as building a school for the children to attend or a hospital to help the local villagers.
Carolline’s idea was indeed feasible.
Finally, Carolline boarded the vehicle in a hurry since there were still other people to pick up and depart with. There wasn’t much time for them to wallow in their sadness and tears.
As she got into the vehicle, Carolline managed to hold back her tears, expressing her gratitude to the village chief and his wife several times before reluctantly getting in. Once on the bus, she burst into tears.
Seeing this scene, both Andy and Gavin Campbell were red-eyed. In the days leading up to their departure, Gavin was excited and counted the remaining days daily. Today, they were finally leaving, and he was both relieved and thrilled.
However, he hadn’t expected such a touching farewell. Carolline couldn’t bear to leave the beautiful place and its warm-hearted villagers; it was an emotional experience. After spending half a year together, it was impossible to say they didn’t feel some attachment.
Eventually, the vehicle took Carolline and the others away. The children even ran after the car, shouting, "Carolline, Carolline!"
Carolline cried even harder.
The tears of the reporters overflowed as they hurriedly captured the touching scene.
After leaving Gratan Town, they arrived at Betrovd Township. There wasn’t a similar scene here. Before the vehicle even stopped, Avery Graham had her luggage ready and waiting; as soon as it halted, she quickly got on.
On the contrary, after everyone else boarded, they waited quite a while for Bernard Taylor. When he finally ambled in, Avery’s eyes widened in surprise, "You... didn’t you say you were going to drive away?"
