Chapter 1174: 020 Reap the Consequences (3)_3
——Dividing Line——
Elena Duncan slept until after nine before she woke up. When she did, she still felt a bit dizzy. Seeing the room full of people concerned about her, it seemed like the sky had turned completely dark. She was surprised, "Did I sleep for a long time? I’m sorry for worrying you."
At the same age of eighteen, Elena was so considerate, whereas Stella Carrington was so different. Simon Carrington couldn’t quite understand why there was such a drastic difference.
"Silly girl, you nearly scared Mom to death. It’s my fault, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry," Daisy Willow said, rushing over and embracing her precious daughter as Elena apologized to everyone.
It was her approach to education that had caused the problem, always making Elena give way to Stella, allowing Stella to climb over their heads and bully her own Elena.
She was the one who should be saying sorry; she didn’t deserve to be a mother, for what kind of mother constantly forces her own daughter to yield.
"Mom, what’s wrong with you? You seem so happy today, why are you crying?" Elena asked, unable to comprehend why Daisy Willow appeared so overly emotional.
"If Z Country would allow you to get your Marriage Certificate with Axel, I really wish you two could just go get it now. I’m not a good mother, but Axel is the one who could be a good husband to you." Overwhelmed, Daisy Willow didn’t even know what she was babbling anymore.
She felt she hadn’t protected her daughter well enough, but Axel, even at such a young age, could. Indeed, that was her most genuine thought at the moment.
"Mom, stop talking nonsense. Aunt Carolline and Uncle Axel will laugh at us," Elena said, looking down, clearly embarrassed.
"..." Daisy Willow then realized what she had said. Simon Carrington approached lovingly and embraced his wife. "Alright, Daisy, it’s okay, Elena is safe and sound. Don’t scare her. Rest assured, nothing like this will ever happen again."
"Yes." Daisy Willow nodded. Stella had to receive the punishment she deserved, and even if she came back, Daisy would no longer acknowledge her as her daughter.
After Stella was taken away, they contacted Irene Houston. The responsibility that she had abandoned onto them for so many years, they could only fail to uphold. Now that Stella had ended up this way, it was time for Irene to face her own daughter.
A woman, a mother, no matter what unspeakable difficulties she faced, abandoning her daughter and leaving her in the care of others was indeed inexcusable.
They had helped all they could; from now on, it would be Irene’s turn to face her daughter’s problems.
Stella Carrington, that daughter, Daisy Willow would not acknowledge anymore, nor could she.
Elena observed everyone’s strange expressions and felt it wasn’t the right time to ask more questions.
"Axel, I’m going to the kitchen to check on the porridge I’m making for Elena. You stay here with her," Daisy Willow said to Axel Hawkins before the four elders, including Evelyn Willow, Liam Carrington, and Brandon Hawkins, all left the room.
"Axel, I’m sorry, I don’t know what happened to me, to sleep for so long on such a special day like today," Elena said apologetically to Axel.
Today was their engagement party, and she had been sleeping in bed all this while, leaving everything for Axel Hawkins to deal with.
"Silly girl, don’t be so formal with me. It’s our fault for not protecting you properly," Axel Hawkins felt guilty instead. Thankfully, Stella Carrington, that twisted woman, had been in the country, not with Elena every day. Otherwise, they couldn’t imagine what Elena would have endured.
Everything, fortunately, had turned out okay.
"Did something happen? I always felt that both mom and dad were acting a bit strange, and you too. What exactly happened? Can you tell me, Axel?" Elena asked, holding Axel’s hand and looking at him expectantly.
"Do you really want to know?" Axel Hawkins looked into Elena’s expectant eyes. He hadn’t planned on hiding it from her, but he thought that maybe it wasn’t the best time to discuss such matters.
But everyone had left, and he couldn’t find anyone else to talk to, so if she really wanted to know, he would tell her.
"Yes, I want to know." Elena Duncan nodded affirmatively.
Axel Hawkins then told her about all the distasteful things Stella Carrington and Charles Morrison had planned to do to her.
In the end, Charles Morrison and Stella Carrington received the punishment they deserved. In M Country, with their age, they were already adults; there was no question of being underage, so this time, they were certain to face severe consequences.
He believed no one would be willing to plead for Stella Carrington’s case, neither Simon Carrington nor Daisy Willow.
"..." After listening to what Axel Hawkins had said, Elena Duncan closed her eyes. After a while, she finally sighed, "Stella Carrington is still so stubborn to this day. She always feels that my mother and I have wronged her, but she has never known that she is actually..."
"She knows now, and knowing it has made her despair." Elena didn’t finish her sentence, but Axel Hawkins knew what she was trying to say.
However, he hadn’t expected that Elena would know about it too.
But he quickly realized that this was likely why Aunt Daisy and Elena had been so forbearing towards Stella Carrington time and again.
But someone failed to feel grateful and did so many disgusting things instead.
"Axel, you mean Stella Carrington knows she’s not Dad’s biological daughter now? You... you know too?" She remembered Simon Carrington had said he intended to keep this a secret forever, if possible, he didn’t even plan to tell Stella Carrington.
So, how did everyone come to know about it now?
"Yes, I know too. Actually, I’m not surprised," Axel Hawkins said calmly, "I always felt it was odd before, but now I suddenly have an epiphany. I always felt Stella Carrington and Uncle Simon didn’t resemble each other at all, turns out they’re not father and daughter."
"Was it Dad who told her, or my mom?" Elena Duncan could see her mother was very angry and regretful about the repeated concessions they had made to Stella Carrington in the past.
To be honest, some of Stella Carrington’s thoughts were too extreme. If not for Simon Carrington’s sake, it would have been impossible for them to tolerate her for so long, mainly because Stella Carrington had always been obsessively convinced that her mother was the other woman.
In fact, her mother wasn’t, and there was no affection between her father and Aunt Fiona Adams.
"It was Uncle Simon who told her, which is why Stella Carrington is particularly desperate," Axel Hawkins said without much emotion.
Elena Duncan nodded. She could not feel sympathy for Stella Carrington now. If it hadn’t been for Axel, she might have really been taken to a hotel by Charles Morrison, and who knows what would have happened then.
If those things had actually occurred, she thought she wouldn’t have been able to live a good life ever again.
"Axel, thank you," Elena Duncan said, leaning into Axel Hawkins’s embrace.
Axel Hawkins extended his hand to hold her, "Don’t worry, all these things are in the past now. In the future, I’ll be by your side and won’t allow anyone to hurt you. As for them, they will pay the price."
"Mhm," Elena Duncan nodded. She thought that after this incident, things between her and Axel would probably go smoothly.
She looked forward to their future together.
