After he returned home, he asked a servant to cook a soup. Luckily they had a chicken in the fridge back home, so he asked them to stew the entire chicken until it was tender and condensed into the pot he now held.

Though she was in pain all over, Carolline still reached out to him. Bryan immediately held out his hand, allowing Carolline to grab it, and then sat by her bed, holding her in his arms.

“Carolline, I’m sorry.” Thousands of words ultimately turned into these three. No matter how he made Matilda Ferguson and George Morris pay afterwards, he had failed to protect Carolline from undergoing such a terrifying ordeal.

“….” Carolline shook her head. She didn’t need to hear him apologize. Wasn’t she safe now?
