Chapter 1138: 011 Time flies, the pact when we were 18_4

Stella Carrington felt a sense of contentment, "Did something happen to Brandon? Do you need me to come over and check?"

Stella Carrington knew that Brandon was Axel Hawkins’ treasure, as well as the entire family’s beloved. If anything disturbed Brandon, her birthday would naturally become unimportant.

She could understand if Axel Hawkins didn’t attend her birthday banquet because of Brandon. In fact, if Axel Hawkins needed her, she was willing to disband her party and go to the side of the two brothers.

"It’s nothing serious. You go ahead and enjoy your birthday. If I’m done here and there is still time, I will rush over. Sorry, and happy birthday." After speaking, Axel Hawkins hung up the phone.

Ending the call, Stella Carrington’s eyes sparkled as she swept her gaze towards Laura Clark. The words just now had undoubtedly given her face.

But to Laura Clark, those words were a slap in the face.

Feeling satisfied, she smiled and explained to everyone, "Brandon is the handsome man’s little brother, the school heartthrob. He is tied up, so the heartthrob won’t make it. His henchman will come over in a bit. Of course, those who wish to stay are welcome to keep enjoying themselves. I, Stella Carrington, will take good care of you with food and drinks. If anyone wishes to leave, now would be the time."

As Stella Carrington said this, her gaze was fixated on Laura Clark. This woman had deliberately embarrassed her just now, so Stella felt no need to offer her any courtesy. The saying ’the nail that sticks out gets hammered down’ was fitting for the situation.

Why did she have to be so eager to stand out?

Laura Clark was furious, clutching her purse as she left. She had a couple of lackeys who, knowing their master had left and that they were not welcome here, also followed suit.

Stella Carrington didn’t stop them. After they left, she directly ordered the butler, "Bring up the tastiest pastries."

"Yes, lady," the butler replied.

Then, the joyful atmosphere of her birthday party quickly resumed.

Kent Auclair had actually arrived early. He didn’t really feel like going in and was sitting in his car, smoking for a while. He had prepared a large teddy bear and a music box for Stella Carrington.

Since Stella Carrington’s sleep quality wasn’t very good and she needed to listen to some light music every night to sleep well, he had specially prepared a music box for her, including music that she loved the most.

Axel Hawkins’ gift was very simple, a bouquet of assorted flowers and a red envelope.

It was the same every year. Axel Hawkins’ gifts were never heartfelt. His own gifts were thoughtfully selected, yet in Stella Carrington’s eyes, she still preferred the gifts from Axel Hawkins.

He knew that Stella Carrington wasn’t the type to covet money, but simply because the person giving those simple, unchanged gifts was Axel Hawkins.

Thinking this, Kent Auclair felt some sense of disheartenment. He extinguished his cigarette, picked up the flowers and money, leaving the gifts he had prepared in the back seat of the car, and got out.

As he did, he collided with Laura Clark, who was hurrying out from inside, "Watch it, don’t you have eyes."

Kent Auclair wasn’t really that polite to people, nor did he understand how to treat women gently. He was quite indifferent to everyone, and even though he had shared a classroom with Laura Clark for three years, it seemed this was their first conversation.

Yet, that’s how rudely Kent Auclair treated a girl.

Laura Clark gave a cold laugh. She knew Kent Auclair liked Stella Carrington, but it was a classic case of unrequited love.

"I may be blind, but that’s still better than someone whose eyes are on the soles of their feet," Laura Clark retorted sarcastically. She was in love with Axel Hawkins, so she didn’t care one bit about his so-called henchman.

"Who the hell are you talking about..." Kent Auclair said fiercely, raising his hand as if to throw a punch.

But Laura Clark wasn’t afraid at all; she didn’t duck and instead faced him head-on, "Kent Auclair, if you have the guts, hit me until I can’t get up today. I’d like to let our classmates see what kind of man you are, one who hits women?!"

If Kent Auclair really hit her, she didn’t believe that someone as prideful as Kent Auclair could have any face left.

"...Just get lost," Kent Auclair waved his hand dismissively, and, conceding his bad luck, picked up the flowers from the ground and headed inside.

Watching Kent Auclair’s departing figure, Laura Clark sneered coldly. She and Kent Auclair were both pitiful, knowing full well that Stella Carrington didn’t like him, yet he couldn’t help falling head over heels for her.
