“…Alright.” Henry Ruiz knew in his heart that Carolline must have run into trouble, but, he trusted Bryan Hawkins’ words. If he said he could bring Carolline back in three hours, he would wait three hours.

After hanging up the phone, Emily Hill’s face paled. She wasn’t sure if it was a special bond between mother and daughter, but she had a feeling that Carolline must have gotten into trouble. Henry Ruiz didn’t lie to her.

“Don’t worry, Bryan said he will find her. He reassured that she’d return safe and sound within three hours.” Henry Ruiz hugged Emily Hill and let out a quiet sigh.

Soon, Matilda Ferguson brought the captives to the nearby abandoned Garbage Station where they were easily extracted from the vehicle by six substantial men, and then casually thrown into the dirt.

The ground was littered with debris, but the two captives were unconscious and oblivious to their surroundings.

Matilda Ferguson took several pictures of Carolline in this horrifying condition and stored them on her phone. She was quite satisfied with the images, and for a moment, thought about sending them to Bryan. But she immediately reconsidered.

Wouldn’t that be a clear signal that Carolline was in her hands? Matilda knew Bryan was extremely intelligent.

“Wake the woman up,” Matilda ordered coldly. As for Ben Parker laying nearby, she ordered her goons to tie him away from her.

So, out of the six men, only two continued to stand behind Matilda. Two men fetched a bucket of cold water, and the other two tied Ben up in a corner.

A bucket of cold water was poured straight onto Carolline. In the almost morning air, the water was very cold, Carolline woke up shivering. She opened her eyes to see Matilda standing before her with a smug face.

“It’s you–” Carolline murmured. She had assumed that they were basic robbers or criminals. It was only now that she realized, she was being reprimanded.

The cold water soaked through her coat and seeped into her clothes, making her feel cold. Unable to stop herself from shivering, Carolline thought that Matilda was cruel to pour a bucket of cold water over her in the freezing weather.
