Chapter 1078: 001 Don’t delude yourself into clinging to my dad.
After Carolline Ruiz’s wedding, Daisy Willow went home with her parents.
It hadn’t been a very long time, but Mr. and Mrs. Willow felt as if ages had passed since they last saw their daughter. Worried that Daisy might not have had enough to eat at the wedding banquet, Mrs. Willow started to prepare some late-night snacks as soon as they got home.
"Mom, don’t bother, I’m really full. Even if you cook something delicious, I can’t eat anymore." Daisy tried to stop her mother, "It’s been so long since I last came home. How about we have a good chat after Elena goes to sleep, hmm?"
"Alright, then I’ll go accompany Elena to sleep. You go take a bath and rest for a while," Mrs. Willow offered to take on the task of putting Elena to bed herself.
"Okay, thank you, Mom," Daisy nodded and went to her room.
Her sister-in-law Millie Campbell was making the bed for her. Coming back home made Daisy feel like she was being pampered like a princess by her family. If possible, she really didn’t want to leave anymore.
But there was no helping it, she had to leave after the New Year.
"Thank you, Big Sis, for helping me make the bed." Daisy felt quite embarrassed.
"What’s there to thank for? You must be tired from the long flight. Making the bed for you is just a simple thing, isn’t it?" Millie Campbell disliked hearing Daisy being so formal.
After all, without Daisy, how could their family live in such a nice house in a big city like G City and establish themselves so well?
So, if anyone should be thanking, it was her who should thank Daisy. No matter how low their social status in the city, their son Kent’s starting point was much higher than those of the children back in their old house, and as a mother, she was already very content with that.
"Then I’m going to take a shower," Daisy knew what Millie was thinking, but in her opinion there was really no need for that. They were all family, after all, and it was natural to support and help each other.
"Sure, I’ll be done making the bed in a moment. Everything is new and washed, so you can rest easy." Millie said with a smile, noticing that Daisy seemed different since her return from overseas.
In the past, when she was with Cole Duncan, she might have lived the life of a rich lady in name, but she looked spiritually defeated, clearly suffering a lot. Back then, she didn’t share her pains with her family and bore the torment of that deranged mother-in-law silently.
Cole Duncan was damn useless too, unable to protect his own wife. It was hard to understand what use such a man could be.
Thankfully, that was all over now.
Daisy, now working for the Carrington Family abroad supposedly as a nanny, looked very well. Regardless of her job title, mutual respect was essential between people.
After Daisy had her shower, Elena had already fallen asleep, clearly exhausted. Evelyn was excited about Elena’s return and refused to go to sleep, insisting on sleeping with Elena. Eventually, Millie managed to send her back to her room—firmly.
The matter of distinguishing between genders, although they were siblings, they were no longer little children; they were both in kindergarten. Once in kindergarten, the teachers taught them about gender differences.
Reluctantly, Evelyn went back to her room to sleep on her own.
He even thought it was unfair. When Elena went to sleep, she had grandma to lull her to sleep with nice stories. When it was his turn, he had to go to bed alone in the dark. If he had known, he would have wished to be reborn as a girl too.
Millie didn’t pay attention to her son’s complaints. Samuel Willow, who was previously busy checking for online orders on his phone, stopped and went to accompany his son to sleep.
Mr. Willow couldn’t stay up late either due to his health, so he went to bed early. Soon, only the three women were left in the living room.
"How’s it been with Simon Carrington over there? With the old master’s passing, aren’t you supposed to finish your contract and come back?" This was Mrs. Willow’s biggest concern. Daisy had originally gone there under the pretense of caring for the old master, but his health was truly poor and he passed away peacefully not long after she arrived.
"Simon is now managing the company alone, and he doesn’t have the time to take care of things at home. I probably need to work there a bit longer. Plus, Elena is quite well-adjusted over there. If I lose this job, I won’t be able to support Elena’s expensive education fees with my savings for long," Daisy explained, implying that she definitely needed this job.
