After speaking with Henry, the sensitive Bryan detected something was amiss. Before he could call Xavier Estrada, Xavier’s call came in.

“Bryan, one of our guys just called to say that Miss Ruiz is missing.” Xavier also sounded very anxious, his voice filled with guilt. He wasn’t sure how much Bryan cared about Carolline, but her disappearance at this time was his dereliction.

“Missing, what do you mean?” Bryan remained fairly calm. He knew that only by staying calm could he handle this situation.

They agreed to call each other once Carolline got home, which would signal their job was done for the day.
