Chapter 1039: System paralysis, good things come in pairs_6
"When did you buy this house? I didn’t even know about it." Calling it an apartment was a bit of an understatement since it took up half a floor, so the house was really big, with not only an oversized main bedroom but also four guest rooms that were equivalent to other people’s main bedrooms, as well as two study rooms.
The reason he decided to divide one very large study room into two when renovating was that Bernard was thinking about the children. He felt that, at his and Avery’s pace, they should have kids right after getting married. There was no time to delay; otherwise, by the time they had children, everyone else’s would be all grown up, and theirs would indeed have no playmates.
Of course, if Avery wanted to go on a honeymoon trip, he was also willing to satisfy her wish. After having the baby, if they wanted to travel, leaving the child with his parents was perfectly fine, and then they could go wherever they wanted.
So, his plan was actually to get pregnant after the wedding. However, it would be a bit of a discomfort for Avery to be pregnant during the wedding. Certainly, he wouldn’t let her stand at the altar with a big belly; he would just try to cut down on the time cost as much as possible.
But now, it was clear that plans couldn’t keep up with changes. He might have to put Avery through a little more discomfort and then arrange the wedding as soon as possible. After all, there would be a good date in a month, and they could just make up the paperwork then.
In the days to come, he would do everything in his power to make up for any discomfort Avery had endured.
"I just bought it recently; I originally wanted to give you a surprise. How about it, do you feel surprised?" Bernard asked with a smile.
"Yeah, it is quite surprising. The house is very comfortable, the decor is beautiful, not too luxurious but also not too minimalistic. And with so many guest rooms, are you planning for my parents to stay here when they’re transitioning?" Avery thought her parents were probably going to sell their own house, and that’s why Bernard bought this one.
"This is our home. Of course, when mom and dad are in transition, they can stay here. But, with the current state of renovations, they can move in even without having sold the house," Bernard said, smiling and leading Avery to the kitchen. The kitchen was large, with that European style and a glass worktop in the middle, which could be used for cutting vegetables and placing lots of things.
Avery was very satisfied. Since she was young, she had imagined what her future home would look like. She could be undemanding about other things, but the kitchen had to be big and spacious because she still wanted to buy an oven. In the future, whether it was for her husband or children’s birthdays, she could personally prepare the cakes for them, instead of buying from a cake shop.
The oven that Avery wanted, Bernard had also bought for her, the exact brand she liked.
"You really thought of everything." Avery thanked him with a kiss, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Do you know? This is exactly like the home I dreamt of as a child. Bernard, how come you understand me so well?"
Avery was truly grateful. She probably had never told Bernard about these things, but he had silently done so much and won her heart so thoroughly.
When had she become so transparent to Bernard?
"Using this, and this," Bernard said, taking Avery’s hand and touching two places: once on the eye, and once on the heart.
At that moment, Avery truly had no more doubts. Bernard’s love for her was not mere infatuation.
Moreover, she had also met Violet Orson by now. She and Violet weren’t just entirely different in appearance; their personalities must be different too. So even if Bernard wanted a substitute for Violet, he wouldn’t just pick her.
Therefore, Bernard was truly making genuine efforts for her, and she was not just some stand-in for when he was bored.
"Thank you," Avery nodded.
"No need, go take a bath; it’s getting late," Bernard suggested, leading her to their main bedroom. The closet was filled with clothes tailored for Avery, from underwear to coats, everything was there.
"The underwear in the drawer has been washed for you," Bernard said. "Choose whatever you like, I’ll go run the bath for you."
"..." Avery felt an indescribable sweetness swelling in her heart. She thought she was a little intoxicated, even without having drunk any wine, her heart was drunk.
After she had picked out clothes, Bernard had the bath ready.
Avery walked to the bathroom door, then suddenly turned around. She saw Bernard making the bed. When she had opened the closet earlier, the other side was filled with Bernard’s clothes. Avery knew that this room was theirs, both hers and Bernard’s.
