Chapter 210: Chapter 209: Sun and Moon Pools
So Tie Dan agreed.
Of course he could endure that solitude. After all, compared to the hassle of energy replenishment, he preferred to kill someone with a sword directly and settle his luck in one go.
Even though Master Taichong also harbored some ill intentions, his original intention was good. Moreover, Tie Dan found his strength really too weak.
Hmm, he had looked at the goods list of Heng Mountain before, and after circling the market of Danxia Mountain, Tie Dan became more aware of his poverty and hardships.
Ashamed of his empty pockets.
Look at others, with master inheritance, family support, having all the Heavenly Materials, Divine Weapons, magic treasures, and Divine Beasts.
But Tie Dan, who had clearly saved the world, was left with gray hair, depleted lifespan, and scattered wealth, leaving only a sword ball and a Kun. Oh, that Kun wasn’t even his; it was there to play with him, and he still owed people for meals...
It’s tough...
So after thinking it over, Tie Dan felt it was still the same old saying, there are priorities.
What revenge for Yao Honglei, what reunion with Zhen Baiyu, what sword fighting at Cloud Platform Peak, can all be postponed. After all, Luofu Mountain, Divine Sect, Nine Yin Sword Sect, none of the final bosses are easy to deal with.
So Tie Dan decided to first pursue the ’Xiaoyao Sect inheritance’, earn some Soldier Repelling Coins, and upgrade his equipment.
After all, this quest was relatively simpler. It was at least a Mystic Sect siege against the Jile Blissful Demon, with overwhelming numbers. And look at that guy, loaded with wealth—having both Divinity Transformation treasures and flying swords. It seemed the Xiaoyao Sect was simply brimming with riches. Since he was also destined with Xiaoyao Sect, why shouldn’t he try to acquire some Heavenly Materials Treasures?
Thus, Tie Dan took Master Taichong’s thunder cloud, and the two headed toward a secret realm in the mountains.
On the way, Master Taichong also gave a brief backstory and plot introduction.
In short, he once had a disciple whom he raised from a young age, akin to a father-son relationship. The disciple finally reached the Golden Core Realm and wanted to return home to marry, continue the family line, and then return to Danxia Mountain for closed-door cultivation.
But unexpectedly, disaster befell the disciple’s family, with the entire family, including the fiancée, harmed by the Supreme Bliss. Naturally, he was inconsolably enraged but knew he was no match. Following the traditional cultivation with the Danxia Mountain Secret Manual, he would certainly never rival the Supreme Bliss.
So the disciple defected from the sect, secretly unsealing the Xiaoyao Sect Immortal Tomb in Danxia Mountain, trying to quickly master the Xiaoyao Sect cultivation technique for revenge.
Master Taichong, seeing the disciple’s Daoist Heart collapse with only vengeance in mind and defecting to the Demon Path, couldn’t dissuade him. Realizing that according to the sect’s rules, such defection warranted heavenly retribution, he resolutely killed the disciple prematurely with a single sword, sending him to reincarnate through Soldier Disintegration.
Tie Dan was utterly impressed.
Why kill him? Just use him as a mole!
Master Taichong, seeing Tie Dan’s glance, understood what he meant and shook his head,
"He couldn’t do it. No matter how great the Xiaoyao lineage is, it’s still a Mystic Sect, and one must have Immortal Fate to enter. It’s not for just anyone."
The miscreant unsealed the tomb but couldn’t even enter its gate, already losing his mind, hell-bent on immoral acts by abducting innocent women from the mountain. How could I permit such beastly behavior? Alas, it’s all my inadequate teaching that led him astray..."
Tie Dan shook his head,
"True Man, don’t worry too much. It’s not your fault. Your disciple was grieved, lost his reason, and ultimately, it’s the damned Jile Blissful Demon who’s the root of this misery."
Master Taichong sighed,
"Indeed, I’m worried about the young one’s maturity. If he was truly tempted by Xiaoyao Sect’s demonic arts, he’d inevitably fall into the Evil Path.
So only an experienced figure like Daoist Tie, who has seen so much of the world, can maintain a steady Daoist Heart.
By the way, does Brother Tie have any prodigies in the family who’d want to cultivate at Danxia Mountain? I could look after them."
Tie Dan, "...I don’t."
Master Taichong comforted,
"Well, each generation has its blessings. Brother Tie shouldn’t worry too much. Just witness a few more generations."
So the two old men chatted all the way until they reached a deep valley behind Danxia Mountain, within the sect’s secret realm.
Here was also a spiritual breath-rich cultivation paradise, but outside the forest, there were barriers and magic banners set up for sealing because within the valley was the Immortal Ancient Tomb of the Xiaoyao Sect.
Alright, there are only so many renowned places suitable for cultivation worldwide, and the Thirty-Six Cave Heavens and Seventy-two Blessed Lands have long been occupied. Back in the day, Danxia Mountain was held by some Mystic Sect of the Xiaoyao Sect, which was later eradicated.
The clothing relics of that Ancient Carefree Sect were housed in this valley’s Immortal Tomb. Although the Hidden Immortal lineage broke their incense heritage, they still respected the dead and didn’t annihilate them entirely; only the most heinous were executed. Ordinary disciples and Artifact Spirits were merely killed and sealed, and the ancient Immortal Tomb was guarded with a seal.
Master Taichong stopped at the prohibition boundary, pointing at the fog-filled valley,
"I am bound by rules and cannot proceed further; I’ll stand guard here. Brother Tie may enter the valley to seize this opportunity. If anyone comes, I’ll secretly assist your escape."
"Alright, thank you, True Man."
Tie Dan didn’t doubt him, after all, Master Taichong’s abilities were strong enough to deal with him with a mere raise of his hand with a thunderbolt. There’s no need for elaborate tricks. Not to mention when he spoke of that ’miscreant,’ his tone was overflowing with passionate anger, and Tie Dan could entirely understand the suppressed fury. It was truly a vow to disregard all sect rules for this mission.
The Supreme Bliss must die.
Recalling that his master, Chen Huzi, also vanished mysteriously near here, and the Jile Blissful Demon was also a suspect, Tie Dan certainly wouldn’t miss this chance for revenge.
He entered the Mist Valley, walking through a narrow canyon between two mountains, traversing about a hundred zhang until he faced a towering cliff. Clearly, a sword mark had split it from top to bottom, creating a thirty-zhang long, three-zhang wide gap. At the entrance, where talismanic ropes and seals once existed, they had obviously been torn apart, likely breached by Master Taichong’s disciple.
So Tie Dan ventured deep into the winding gorge, taking only a few steps before everything spun and he entered a Blessed Land Grotto Heaven, immediately greeted by brilliant light.
Tie Dan extended his Divine Sense and surveyed, only to find himself standing on a huge rock platform hanging in the Sky Dome Void. On the suspended rock, two stone pools were carved, one large, one small, like the Sun and Moon mirrors, reflecting the starry sky, the stone glistening red, the pools sparkling with dawn light, creating a magnificently stunning scene.
He circled the pools a couple of times, glanced up at the sky, did some calculations, and noticed that the giant rock originally had a Taoist Palace and temple, yet they had been completely uprooted. Underneath the Sun and Moon Pools, there seemed to be mechanisms, likely part of the Xiaoyao Sect Immortal Tomb’s entrance mechanism.
According to Tie Dan’s calculations, this flying rock should have originally hovered over Danxia Mountain, basked in sunlight and moonlight, to best absorb the Sun and Taiyin’s essence. But now, the Hidden Immortal Sect had exterminated the whole clan, suppressing the tomb at the mountain foot within a dark cave for a millennium, unseen by sunlight.
Tie Dan estimated that to obtain the Xiaoyao Sect’s inheritance, one must choose between the Sun and Moon Pools. For men, the inheritance lay in the Yang Pool, for women, in the Moon Pool. Thus, Tie Dan intended to enter the Yang Pool.
Then Kun emerged, patted Tie Dan, and gestured with its fin.
Uh, the Moon Pool, are you sure?
Kun rolled its eyes at him, implying, "Go ahead if you dare to enter the Yang Pool."
Tie Dan could only reluctantly agree with Kun, "Alright, alright, whatever Kun says."
Thus, Tie Dan stepped into the Moon Pool, immediately sensing the water’s extreme chill, with the Power of Taiyin gushing into his meridians.
However, the Power of Taiyin was inherently scarce and hard to cultivate. Given this Immortal Fate, Tie Dan naturally wouldn’t resist. He didn’t pinch the formula to repel water, allowing the cold to permeate his body, gathering Taiyin energy. First, he breathed in and out spiritual breaths in the pool, filling his Qi Sea with Taiyin Qi, then he dove deep, following the Taiyin Qi to find a secret door at the pool’s bottom, swimming through the passageway into the Immortal Tomb within.
After swimming for an unknown amount of time in the Taiyin Moon Spring, bright light suddenly appeared. Tie Dan broke through the water’s surface and saw the Immortal Tomb.
When Tie Dan emerged from the waterway, he looked around, realizing that inside this giant stone was a jade vein ore bed, which had been fashioned into a stone cave jade chamber, resembling an immortal’s abode. This was the Taiyin Immortal Tomb.
But no coffins were visible in this Immortal Tomb, only numerous intricately detailed figures of cultivation techniques on the jade chamber’s walls. In the chamber was a vast Cold Jade Bed, on which lay an incredibly beautiful, fairy-like...immortal corpse.
Tie Dan, "..."
Wow... alright, the Xiaoyao Sect’s tradition, how would you expect it to be transmitted...
Tie Dan reached out his hand, feeling the pulse, examining the state of the immortal corpse.
Whoa, this is a Divinity Transformation Realm Divine Monarch’s Taoist Body, possibly the ancestor of a sect...
This immortal corpse, refined with some Secret Technique, preserved with secret medicines, had remained lifelike and supple for centuries, with skin as smooth as jade, only that the Taoist Body was incredibly cold inside, its meridians filled with pure Taiyin Power, the internal organs vastly different from humans. Rather than an immortal corpse, it was more like a refined magic artifact, obviously meant as a teaching aid for Xiaoyao Sect disciples, also for collecting Taiyin Yin Element.
And what’s more baffling, Tie Dan looked closely and noticed the immortal corpse’s makeup, appearance, and even the surrounding jade-veined small figured carvings faintly resembled Xuan Nu...
Whoa! No wonder the Hidden Immortal Sect wanted to obliterate your entire Xiaoyao Sect! Doing such disrespectful things to the dead?!
Tie Dan hesitated for a while, exchanged a glance with the watching Kun.
What to do now?
Kun gave him a look, indicating that the illustrations have been drawn so intricately for hundreds of pages. With your comprehension level, how could you not know? Just follow the pictures step by step. A real man shouldn’t dawdle.
Then it leaped away, leaving Tie Dan to cultivate undisturbed.
