Scum Daddy Dreams Of Stealing My Mommy!
Chapter 382: My Man Is Certainly Awesome!

Chapter 382: Chapter 382: My Man Is Certainly Awesome!

I don’t know whether to call Lucas a prophet or a jinx.

Early in the morning, Christopher was still having breakfast with the kids when his phone rang.

"President Hart, you should take a look at the stock market! Peak Industries is still buying Seal-Cloud’s shares. Their holdings have already reached 20%. If they keep increasing their shares, a hostile takeover might be triggered soon, and then Seal-Cloud will have to change its name!" Lucas’s anxious voice came through as soon as he picked up the call.

Christopher hadn’t said anything when his phone notified him of a new incoming call.

He glanced at the phone and was unsurprised—it was his uncle Dunn Hart.

"Dunn Hart is calling me; I’ll ask about the situation first." He briefly replied to Lucas and waited for him to hang up without answering the new call.

Amelia noticed him staring at the phone with an unclear expression and sensed something was wrong. She asked in a low voice, "What’s going on? Why aren’t you answering the call?"

"It’s nothing, you all finish eating first." He turned his wheelchair towards the living room.

Amelia called the children while looking back at him, hearing his phone’s ringtone stop and then start again shortly.

This time, Christopher answered.

"Hello, Uncle Dunn."

On the other side, his uncle, Dunn Hart, surprisingly greeted him with a laugh, "Christopher, you’re... at home, right?"

"Does Uncle have something to discuss?" Christopher’s mind became clear as a mirror upon hearing the other’s attitude.

It seemed he had indeed let the wolf into the house and could no longer control the situation.

The other side hesitated, "Uh... yes, there’s something. I want to talk to you face to face."

Christopher checked the time on his wrist and said coolly, "I have to go out later, to the hospital."

"Oh, visiting your mother, right? Well, to be honest, it’s our fault too. We haven’t found the time to visit her since she got sick and hospitalized. I’ll call up your aunt, and Jayden and Danny, and go to the hospital later."

Christopher’s face remained very indifferent, with a cold smile, "Uncle Dunn, that’s considerate of you, but my mother’s illness requires peace and quiet. Thank you for your kindness."

"Don’t worry, we just want to see her, we won’t disturb her recovery. So it’s settled, see you at the hospital later."

After the call ended, Christopher put down his phone and saw a news article sent by Lucas on WhatsApp.

[Peak Industries continues to increase its shares in Seal-Cloud, small eats big could become a sure thing.]

The subtitle starkly warned, Seal-Cloud Corporation’s myth shatters, Hart Family’s internal strife, external enemies invade, Seal-Cloud shall soon change hands.

Amelia walked over, seeing him sitting still, and gently placed a hand on his shoulder, asking softly, "Christopher, is something wrong?"

Christopher looked back at her, thinking that since the situation had blown up, hiding it wouldn’t help. He simply handed her the phone, "Take a look."

Amelia took the phone, glanced at it, and her expression changed drastically, "How could this happen?!"

But thinking a bit more, this incident, while unexpected, was still within reason.

After all, some time ago, Snow had mentioned this a few times, and even the company employees had discussed it.

Back then, everyone just thought that Peak swallowing Seal-Cloud was nothing but a fool’s dream.

But who would’ve thought the world would be so full of surprises?

"Where did they get such funds, wanting to control Seal-Cloud?" Amelia was extremely surprised, sitting down beside him, quickly skimming through the news.

Christopher said flatly, "The capital market is never short of ambitious people. Perhaps they’ve been preparing for a long time, just waiting for the right moment. And Dunn Hart and his foolish bunch just gave them this opportunity."

"So what now? Are you going to the company? But tomorrow is New Year’s Eve, everywhere is on holiday..."

The man shook his head, "I have already submitted my resignation to the board. The company is no longer my responsibility."

"What?!" Amelia was shocked once again, looking at him incredulously and asked, "When did you submit it? Have you thought it through? Seal-Cloud only reached its current scale under you; are you just giving up?"

"I submitted it yesterday. After the company meeting, I came here." Christopher, whose mood was heavy, couldn’t help but smile seeing her eyes wide open in surprise, like a startled cat, "Didn’t we agree before? I resign, focus on the home, and you support me—you even said you’ll provide me with a driver, a maid, a chef—all that."

Amelia tossed the phone back to him with a serious face, "At a time like this, you’re still joking! Knowing your personality, you might not want to be Seal-Cloud’s president, but you would never allow Seal-Cloud to fall into outsiders’ hands and change its name! This is the Hart family’s legacy! Grandpa’s life work!"

The smile on Christopher’s face slightly faded, he then sighed deeply, pulling her hand over, "Alright, you know me well after all."

He originally thought that the days had been too messy recently, leaving him exhausted, with no energy or time to properly spend with his beloved.

So, if Dunn Hart wanted to seize power, let him go, let him have his little thrill for now.

When his two useless sons fail to manage things, he can sweep back easily.

"I didn’t expect them to be so foolish as to burn themselves and fail so quickly."

Amelia thought of the time she saw that uncle at Wendy’s funeral and frowned, asking confusedly, "Even if your uncle has issues with you, they can’t be this dumb, right? Would they rather let the company fall into others’ hands than let you be in charge?"

Christopher chuckled softly, "They aren’t that generous, surely when they initially formed an alliance with Peak Industries, they made some underhanded agreement, hoping Peak would become a major shareholder to restrain me. But unexpectedly, Peak harbored ulterior motives all along, betraying them. Surely they’re regretful now."

Hearing him say this, Amelia understood, "So... you won’t retreat at this critical moment, right? According to what you’ve said, if you don’t return to hold the fort, Seal-Cloud is definitely doomed this time!"

Christopher laughed again, "Am I that impressive in your mind?"

"Of course! Your abilities and strategies are undeniable, otherwise grandpa wouldn’t have handed the company over to you despite all the pressure back then."

Christopher frowned slightly, with a tone tinged with melancholy, "But as far as I know... Peak is well prepared this time, and their current shares are just below mine—honestly, I’m not sure I can turn the tide."

Amelia tightly gripped his hand, "I believe you can!"

"But I really don’t want to deal with these messy things... I just want to be with you, with the kids..."

As he said this, he turned his head to the dining room, watching the second and third child fighting over a shrimp dumpling, only for the eldest to benefit while the others quarreled—his charming lips curved into a smile.

"Being with you all makes me feel more fulfilled than owning the whole world."

"Oh no..." The woman drooped her expression, and said gloomily, "Your words make me feel like I’m a disastrous beauty, corroding a business legend into having no fighting spirit at all..."

The man laughed, raising his hand to pinch her chin gently, sweetly saying, "I’d willingly..."

The two were originally discussing serious and urgent matters, but the atmosphere turned sweet in an instant, fortunately, Amelia’s phone rang, breaking the sweet moment between them.

"It’s Snow calling, probably also saw the news."

"Hmm, go ahead, I’ll have breakfast and head to the hospital. Dunn Hart will likely come to apologize and admit his mistakes."

Amelia answered her best friend’s call, and sure enough, it was about this matter.

Standing in front of the living room window, she turned around looking at the man joking around with the kids in the dining room, sighed, and said, "He said he’s not confident... mainly because he’s been too busy lately, overwhelmed, I can see he’s quite tired..."

And she, she felt very sorry for him.

But unfortunately, her abilities are limited, and she can’t help him much.
