Scum Daddy Dreams Of Stealing My Mommy! -
Chapter 354 Mr. Hart Plays the Thief at Midnight
Chapter 354: Chapter 354 Mr. Hart Plays the Thief at Midnight
"Wendy, what nonsense are you talking about!" Emma Carter had never expected her daughter to say such a thing. Unable to suppress her temper, her words came out sharp, "You are my daughter, my own flesh and blood. How could I see you as a burden? If I could suffer in your place, I’d rather shorten my own life just to let you live well. How could you say something like this? You’re breaking my heart!"
"You want me to live well, so why did you let them come here, making noise and chaos? How am I supposed to recover?"
"Wendy!" Emma Carter stared at her daughter, thoroughly shocked by her perspective.
She stood up from the bedside, looking down at her daughter. She wanted to say something but swallowed her words when she saw Wendy’s pale and haggard face, unable to bring herself to voice them.
The doctor had prescribed a new drug for Wendy, one still in the experimental stage at a research institute abroad. While it had shown good results, the doctor warned it was no more than shining brilliance at twilight. When the illness resurged, there would be nothing left to remedy the situation.
Every day her daughter lived now might be her last.
Emma Carter’s heart felt as shattered as leaves scattered in the wind, hollow and cold. The grief of soon losing her daughter made her feel unsteady on her feet.
So, she stared at her daughter for a long moment and swallowed back the scolding words. She simply couldn’t say them.
How could she not know? Her daughter had been spoiled rotten, her values long skewed, and her mentality distorted.
But what could she do?
"Forget it, my head hurts. I’m going to sleep; you should rest early too." Emma Carter said, defeated, her voice flat. She turned and left her daughter’s bedroom.
Wendy watched her mother walk away, her already constricted chest swelling with such sharp pain it felt like it would explode!
Amelia Garcia!
That woman really had a lot of tricks up her sleeve!
Not only had she enchanted Christopher, but now she was using the three kids as bait to easily change Mom’s attitude.
All these years, her mom had never been angry with her, never left her like she did today.
All of this... was because of Amelia Garcia!
The frail and haggard girl’s face twisted in anger. Her eyebrows furrowed, teeth clenched tightly, her hand gripping the bed linens so hard that her trembling fingers turned white.

Christopher took the kids back to Imperial Garden. On the way, Hope and Ethan had already fallen asleep.
Noah was also yawning non-stop, but still trying to stay awake.
"Why aren’t you sleeping?" Christopher furrowed his brows as his phone displayed no response to his messages. Even his calls went unanswered. He glanced back at his eldest son and asked.
The little guy replied seriously, "I haven’t washed my face, brushed my teeth, or taken a shower yet."
Noah had a slight obsession with cleanliness and couldn’t accept going to bed without these nightly routines.
Christopher couldn’t help but chuckle, ruffling his son’s hair. "Where did you get this kind of temperament?"
The little guy tilted his head. "The good parts are like Mom’s. As for the bad parts... I don’t know."
Though he said he didn’t know, in his heart he blamed all the bad parts on his father.
Of course, Christopher understood his son’s underlying message and smiled wryly.
He had thought that woman would be fretting all night, waiting for them to return home.
Yet, to his surprise, when they arrived home, she hadn’t even come back.
Christopher could no longer suppress his frustration. After instructing Aunt Harper to help the children wash up and go to bed, he called Amelia Garcia again.
This time, the call finally connected.
But on the other end, it was noisy and chaotic, clearly not at home.
He was startled. "You’re not back yet?"
"I’m just about to head back, what’s the matter?" the woman asked casually.
"Where did you go?"
"Dinner and some shopping."
Dinner and shopping? Christopher found the answer completely unexpected.
He paused before asking, "With whom?"
"Why do you care?"
The man held back his temper. "Come back quickly. I’m waiting for you."
"You don’t need to wait for me. I’m not going to Imperial Garden tonight."
"You’re not coming over?" Christopher was taken aback again. "I brought the kids back to the family house. Don’t you care at all about how things went?"
The woman’s tone remained flat. "It’s so late now. By the time I get there, they’d be asleep anyway. Besides, you brought them back; that’s enough. As long as they haven’t been mistreated, what more is there to know?"
"You’re so sure I’d bring them back?"
"Ha, if I didn’t have that much confidence, would I have let you take them?"
"..." The man felt both angry and amused, at a loss for words for a moment.
So, this woman had now learned how to counter rigidity with softness.
Thankfully, his survival instincts were strong. Understanding her intentions, no matter how much his mother had tried to persuade him, he had been firm about bringing the kids back.
If he had indeed relented and stayed, he’d probably face a catastrophic, world-ending argument upon returning.
"Alright, I’m heading back now. You’ve had a busy day too; get some rest early."
Once Amelia Garcia knew the kids were home, she relaxed and ended the call abruptly.
Christopher held the phone for a long time, feeling a heavy, constricting pain in his chest.
This woman, how could she be so cold and indifferent?
Or perhaps, was she actually upset and wouldn’t admit it, which was why she refused to come over?
He was indeed very tired and wanted nothing more than to go upstairs and rest, but the nagging feeling in his heart left him unsettled.
After some hesitation, he called Fuller over. "Do you know where Madam lives?"
Fuller froze for a second, then realized the implication. He nodded. "I do."
He and Aunt Harper both knew, as they’d taken care of the kids there before.
"Alright, take me there."
Fuller was stunned. "Now?"
"Yes."

Amelia Garcia stumbled into her home, carrying bags full of shopping spoils, completely exhausted.
She dropped the shopping bags on the floor and sprawled onto the couch. Taking out her phone, she checked her chat history with someone.
From 4 PM to 10 PM, he had been sending her messages sporadically on WhatsApp.
But she hadn’t responded to a single one.
She had done it on purpose.
To let that man know her stance, making him wary so he’d quickly bring the kids back home.
And indeed, the "cold treatment" had proven very effective.
So, she was no longer worried.
With Sister Jones on leave for the next couple of days, she had the villa entirely to herself.
Freedom.
After slumping on the couch for a while, she felt thirsty. She got up to pour herself some water at the bar counter.
Suddenly, she heard the sound of a car pulling into the yard.
She paused, thinking it was a neighbor passing by, and paid no attention.
After finishing her drink, she returned to the living room. Seeing all the shopping bags strewn across the coffee table and sofa, she thought about sorting out the kids’ clothes to take to Imperial Garden tomorrow.
Her own clothes could stay here.
She reached for the shopping bags and had barely packed two items when she heard the sound of the fingerprint lock on the front door.
The noise startled her. She turned and froze at the sight.
Christopher, seated in his wheelchair, appeared behind the door.
Their gazes met in the air.
Fuller, having cared for the kids at the house before, naturally knew the fingerprint password.
After unlocking the door and letting the boss in, he silently retreated and closed the door behind him.
Christopher lingered in the doorway for two seconds. Ignoring the blank look on the woman’s face, he began wheeling himself toward the living room.
Amelia Garcia snapped out of her surprise and quickly masked her expression with indifference. She averted her gaze and continued sorting through the new clothes, deliberately mocking him. "Mr. Hart, wandering around in the middle of the night... have you switched careers to become a thief?"
