Chapter 352 Amelia Garcia Pays Through the Nose

Chapter 352: Chapter 352 Amelia Garcia Pays Through the Nose

Amelia never expected Christopher to act so impatiently.

She was merely pretending to be indifferent earlier this morning while dropping the kids off at kindergarten, casually mentioning that Grandpa and Grandma realized their mistakes and missed them—including their little sister...

She suggested that perhaps, for their father’s sake, they could go back and have dinner with Grandpa and Grandma.

By four in the afternoon, she received a WhatsApp message from him.

The first message was to thank her.

The second informed her that he was taking the kids to the old house for dinner tonight.

When Amelia saw the messages, her expression froze in shock for quite a while.

This guy had been scheming all along, just waiting for her to give in, hadn’t he?

He couldn’t even muster the courage to call her directly, opting instead to leave a mere couple of lines on WhatsApp.

She had initially wanted to mock him, even started typing her response, but ultimately decided it wasn’t worth it.

So she ignored him.

Christopher had sent the messages and then lingered on the WhatsApp interface; thus, he could see the "typing..." status on her end.

But in the end, no reply came back—not even a single word.

He immediately knew that this little woman was still upset.

Sigh...

He let out a helpless sigh, put away his phone, and turned back to amuse the kids.

"Dad, we’re only going because of you; it doesn’t mean we’ve forgiven them, okay?" Noah declared, firmly stating his position.

"Only for Dad’s sake—I don’t even want to go..." Hope pouted, clearly unwilling to return to that place.

The trauma caused by that Grandma ran deep in her heart.

Christopher noticed it all and gently reassured the kids, "I understand, sweethearts. Rest assured, Grandpa and Grandma won’t treat you the way they did before. They’ve sincerely realized their mistakes."

Noah: "Then they need to apologize to Sis."

Ethan suddenly chimed in, "Yes! They need to apologize to Sis!"

Hope crossed her arms and turned her head away, "Hmph! I don’t care about their apology!"

Christopher looked at the three little troublemakers and internally broke out in a cold sweat—being stuck between these two sides was no pleasant experience.

Elsewhere, Amelia had sat in her mild frustration for a little while before quickly letting it go.

She glanced at the time and picked up her phone to call Snow Fitch.

"Oh my, President Norton is so busy, and yet you thought of me?" Snow teased as she answered, her voice playful.

Amelia chuckled and said, "Miss Fitch, would you care to honor me with your company for dinner tonight?"

"What’s up? Did you two have a fight? Or did Christopher dump you again?" Otherwise, how would she have time to ask her out for dinner?

"Pfft! Can’t you say something nice for once, you crow’s mouth?"

"Hahaha... Can’t blame me; you two have been too lovey-dovey lately."

Have they? Amelia didn’t feel that way; she hadn’t been to Imperial Garden every night. She thought she’d been quite independent and restrained already.

"Alright, alright, stop rambling. Dinner tonight, okay?"

"Just the two of us?"

"Yep!"

"Fine! I’ll come by your office after work."

"See you tonight~"

Hanging up the phone, Amelia’s mood immediately improved.

Since the whole family was bonding joyfully, she could hang out with her best friend, indulge in some fine dining, and relax. It was perfect—peace and quiet, just what she needed.

But she never expected that before she even left her office after work, she would be stopped.

"You’re Michael Garcia’s daughter, aren’t you? Don’t think that changing your name means no one will recognize you."

"It’s her! She looks exactly like the woman in the videos online!"

"Your dad owes us money! Debts of the father should be paid by the daughter—it’s only fair!"

"Pay us back! Give us the money!"

A group of people surrounded Amelia at the company entrance, shouting angrily that she had to pay them or they wouldn’t let her leave.

She was terrified, but fortunately, Betty, along with her translator and the bodyguard, coincidentally finished work at the same time. Seeing the commotion, they immediately stepped in to block the mob.

"What are you doing? Broad daylight—are you trying to start a riot?" the bodyguard reprimanded, exuding a powerful aura that quickly restored order.

"We don’t want trouble; we just want the money we’re owed!"

"Exactly! Michael Garcia owes us months of wages, and now his company has gone bankrupt, not even paying severance. We applied for arbitration at the labor bureau, and they told us to wait! How long are we supposed to wait?"

"You’re his daughter. He’s contacted you before, hasn’t he? You own your own company and found yourself a wealthy man! Your dad’s debts should naturally be settled by you!"

Thinking of what Jacob Garcia had said over the phone last time—the company had gone bankrupt, the liquidation was complete, most employees had been dismissed, but there were disputes over compensation—along with the videos online, Amelia pieced it together instantly.

A surge of resentment filled her chest—how infuriating! Michael Garcia had already been arrested, yet he still managed to wreak havoc on her life. What had she done in a past life to deserve being born as his daughter in this one?

"Enough shouting! If you really want to solve this, at least have a proper attitude about it. Gathering like this to cause trouble—do you all plan to join your boss behind bars?" Amelia snapped, her anger leaking into her words.

But this assertiveness stunned the group into silence.

Finally, someone spoke up, "We’ve seen all about you and your father online. He truly isn’t a good father and has wronged you, but you’re still his daughter. We have nowhere else to turn—we need to survive too!"

Since they were willing to talk it out properly, Amelia calmed down and said, "Come inside to the lobby. If your requests are reasonable, I’ll deal with it."

The translator explained the situation in detail to Betty, who gasped and grabbed Amelia’s arm, asking incredulously, "You’re really going to clean up after that irresponsible father of yours?"

Amelia replied helplessly, "In our country, debts of the father can indeed fall to the children. I can’t escape it."

Yes, Amelia could choose not to help Michael Garcia and let him fend for himself.

But the employees were innocent.

These days, life was hard for everyone.

So, with the help of the bodyguard, translator, and building security, the group was led into the lobby to a meeting area on one side.

When Snow Fitch arrived, Amelia was still negotiating with them.

According to the contract law, resolving everything was clearly impossible. Amelia then clearly stated her stance: both sides needed to compromise. She was willing to shoulder most of the responsibility and provide compensation.

The discussions stretched past eight o’clock before an agreement was reached.

Amelia breathed a sigh of relief, "Tomorrow, you can send a representative over. I’ll arrange for my lawyer to coordinate with you and ensure the compensation is processed as quickly as possible."

Snow, listening on the side, was utterly shocked.

At the restaurant, Miss Fitch nearly pressed her friend’s forehead down to chide her, "What are you thinking? You’re not legally or socially bound to Michael Garcia anymore. Why are you taking this on?"

Having been excited about eating a hearty meal and shopping with her best friend, Amelia now found herself entirely dispirited due to the earlier incident. She sighed deeply at Snow’s words.

"I know I don’t have to pay, but these people have been holding grudges for a long time. If I refuse, they could haunt me at work or even at the shop. I just want to settle things peacefully. Besides, they’re victims too, merely seeking their rightful compensation. I have the means to help; why not consider it a good deed?"

Doing good without seeking reward.

This was genuinely how she felt, and fate had a way of rewarding her down the road for this very decision.
