Scum Daddy Dreams Of Stealing My Mommy!
Chapter 313: Showing Attentiveness

Chapter 313: Chapter 313: Showing Attentiveness

Amelia Garcia left the hospital and drove home first.

At home, she took a shower, tidied herself up, and found the work phone she used specifically for business. She plugged it in to charge.

She called the company, and sure enough, there was a pile of issues waiting for her to decide on.

There was no choice but to rush to the office first to handle the important matters.

Using the work phone, she logged into her personal WhatsApp. It required two friends to help verify her identity. She asked Snow Fitch and a colleague for assistance, and successfully logged in.

The phone immediately seemed like it was about to explode, dinging incessantly. Judging by the notifications, there were at least over a thousand unread messages.

Apparently, during these days when she was out of contact due to the incident, many people were worried about her.

Looking at the screen filled with red dots, she didn’t even know which one to click on first.

Suddenly, the phone’s screen switched, and Snow Fitch sent a video call.

Amelia Garcia: "Hey, what’s up?"

Snow Fitch: "Did you buy a new phone?"

"No, I still had a work phone at home, so I’m using it for now. When I have time, I’ll buy a new phone and go to the service center to sort out the number." Thinking about it, so many things to do! She figured she’d be busy for half the day.

Snow Fitch noticed she was at home and asked curiously, "You came back to your own place?"

"Yeah."

"What about the kids?"

"They’re at the hospital."

Snow Fitch was startled: "At the hospital? What happened? Don’t tell me your ex-mother-in-law went that far and sent Hope to the hospital?"

Amelia Garcia, pressed for time, explained while heading out with her phone: "Hope’s fine. It’s Christopher. He came home last night but hadn’t even gotten out of the car before he couldn’t hold on—vomiting blood and fainting. He was rushed to the hospital. I stayed at the hospital with him all night and came back now to take a shower before heading to the office."

Snow Fitch was even more shocked, "No way! He seemed perfectly fine when he got off the plane yesterday—and if he could get jealous over me, how did he end up vomiting blood and fainting?"

Talking about this, Amelia Garcia sighed helplessly, "Same as what you’re thinking—it’s likely he wasn’t feeling well already and was just forcing himself through it."

"Tsk tsk, he really surprises me. Even in that kind of state, he’s still so devoted to you..."

Knowing what her friend was about to say next, Amelia Garcia got into the car, placed the phone in the storage compartment, and interrupted: "You don’t need to keep talking him up. I’ve thought it through already."

"Thought what through?"

She sighed internally. To express this decision clearly required some courage.

"...Since he’s so devoted, maybe I should give him another chance. Didn’t you say that having someone so obedient to me wouldn’t be a bad thing?"

"Finally, you’ve come to your senses!" Snow Fitch was ecstatic, laughing heartily, "That’s the spirit! After all, he’s already handed over his entire wealth to you—what do you have to be afraid of? If he ever lets you down again, just kick him out with nothing!"

Amelia Garcia broke into a faint sweat, replying calmly: "I’m not interested in his money."

At this point in her life, she had achieved great success and wasn’t short on money.

Why bother taking his wealth and risk tarnishing her image as a gold digger—ruining her own reputation?

"You’re such a fool! He offered it willingly, not like you tricked him into giving it. Why not take it for free? But..." Snow Fitch shifted her tone, curious and puzzled, "Aren’t you afraid of your ex-mother-in-law and ex-father-in-law—and that weird, over-the-top little sister-in-law of his?"

"What is there to be afraid of?" Amelia Garcia said while driving. Though only half of her jawline was visible on the video, the calm indifference in her expression was unmistakable. "I’ve never feared them. These issues are for Christopher Hart to handle anyway—it’s his mess, not mine."

"Now that’s the right attitude! Congratulations on finally figuring it out!"

"Alright, I’m driving. We’ll talk later."

"Okay~"

"But don’t tell Christopher that I... that I’m thinking this way, still..."

"Ah, I get it! You care about your pride. But honestly, I’m curious—if Christopher knew what you were thinking, how would he react? If he weren’t so unwell, he’d probably be so thrilled that he’d scoop you up and spin you around!"

Scoop her up and spin her around?

Those words brought Amelia Garcia back to a distant memory.

Back then, when they were in the early stages of their relationship, and had just confessed their feelings to each other, Christopher Hart had indeed scooped her up and spun her around in joy.

Truth be told, wasn’t that considered a bit of puppy love?

But she’d always been self-respecting, and Christopher could be considered quite the gentleman. Though they had established a relationship, they were still students, and thus avoided crossing any lines.

At most, they’d walk to and from school together, occasionally meeting up at the library to study or hiking on weekends.

During those weekend hikes, they’d shyly hold hands or wrap an arm around each other’s shoulders.

Looking back now, the purity of those moments was a kind of heartache.

Now, his legs were impaired, and she was no longer that thin, fragile teenager—being scooped up and spun around? Such a scene was likely to remain only within cherished memories.

When Fuller came to pick up the kids and take them home, he placed a brand-new phone on the bedside table.

"Mr. Hart, I’ve taken care of everything as you requested."

"Good. Take them home. No need to come tomorrow. I’ll be discharged in two days anyway."

"Understood."

The kids spent half the day happily bustling about in the hospital room. When it was time to leave, they were reluctant to go.

"Daddy, remember to miss Hope!"

"Daddy, when you’re back home, I’ll test you with riddles again—you won’t be able to guess them!"

"Daddy, don’t upset Mommy anymore. Girls need to be coaxed. Coax Mommy more and we’ll all be happy!"

The kids may be young, but their minds were sharp—they’d already grasped the truth that "Mommy’s happiness equals everyone’s happiness!"

Christopher Hart hadn’t been angry for a while now; otherwise, he wouldn’t have asked Fuller to buy a phone and sort out the number.

That woman had been carefree and nonchalant for years—if he were petty about it, they’d have long broken ties without lingering like this.

But people, well, everyone has a temper.

Even when he was at a disadvantage, it didn’t mean he should always bow his head, put up with everything, and never fight back!

After venting his frustrations, he’d still know how to make amends—anything to see her.

"Alright, Daddy knows. You guys head home now and be good to Aunt Harper. Starting tomorrow, return to school."

The kids left, and the hospital room fell silent, leaving only Christopher Hart behind.

He looked at the phone, picked it up, furrowed his brow slightly as if pondering something, then grabbed his own phone and started tinkering with it.

Amelia Garcia had said she’d come in the afternoon, but after dealing with a mountain of work at the office and rushing to finish, she finally made it to the hospital room as night fell.

Christopher Hart had already fallen asleep waiting.

But as soon as the hospital room door opened, it was as if he had some sort of sixth sense, and he immediately woke up.

Amelia Garcia noticed, speaking quietly, "Did I... wake you?"

The man’s expression was unreadable, neither happy nor angry. He glanced at her briefly before withdrawing his gaze, not saying a word.

"..." The woman didn’t say much either, quietly stepping inside, setting down her phone and car keys, and walking toward the bedside. "How are you feeling? Is anything still hurting? Have you vomited blood again?"

But the man didn’t answer her questions. His gaze landed on her phone, and his eyes instantly turned colder: "You bought a new phone?"
