Chapter 293: Chapter 293: Nine Deaths and One Life

A Swiss Airline passenger plane encountered extreme weather while on a long-haul flight and lost cabin pressure.

Crew members made an urgent decision to perform an emergency landing at Dubai International Airport.

Unfortunately, upon landing, they encountered wind shear and the plane performed a dolphin jump, forcing the crew to attempt a go-around. However, because the aircraft had already been damaged, the go-around failed and it crashed heavily onto the runway, sparking a massive fire.

After the accident, major media outlets around the world rushed to report on the disaster, quickly spreading the news globally.

Because of the time difference, the news was relayed in the domestic region several hours later.

It was in the middle of the night, and everyone was asleep, with few people aware of the sudden incident.

Snow Fitch, needing to pick someone up, was closely following the flight information.

Thus, she noticed the news immediately.

After contacting Benny Palmer, the two quickly met.

"Snow, are you sure Amelia Garcia was on this flight?" Benny Palmer still found it hard to believe.

Air disasters, such events are highly improbable, previously only seen online, never experienced by anyone they knew.

Now it was someone they knew, yet they simply couldn’t believe it.

They kept hoping it was false, a ridiculous mistake.

Snow’s eyes were red; she had already cried, pulling out her phone to show him, "This is the flight information Amelia sent me, I’ve checked it countless times... it’s this flight."

Benny took the phone and glanced at it, his face spasming as his heart sank.

"Okay... I know, I’ve already contacted our international clients in both Dubai and Zurich, they will try to help me confirm it," said Benny, his face grave, his emotions mixed, hesitant and pained.

He’d searched online many times, still no detailed reports about the accident.

He only knew that after hitting the runway, a fire had started.

Reportedly, it was pouring rain at the airport, which would definitely cause great difficulty for the rescue operations, so whether Amelia was okay or when they could get in touch was still unknown.

"How I wish Amelia and her group hadn’t boarded that flight; if only they hadn’t..." Snow Fitch squatted on the roadside, arms tightly wrapped around herself, tears streaming as she murmured.

Benny looked at her, sighed helplessly, "You should sit in the car, it’s cold outside."

Snow, perhaps not hearing him, didn’t move.

Benny pulled her up, opened the car door, and ushered her inside.

The phone rang, and as he looked, his expression grew even more serious.

Snow looked at him, "Is there news?!"

"It’s Christopher," the man replied and answered the call, "Hello..."

In the living room of Imperial Garden Villa, Christopher Hart sat engulfed in a chilling loneliness, each minute excruciating.

He had wanted to call Benny Palmer earlier but feared disturbing his coordination with the outside, possibly missing out on any news.

He had restrained himself.

But after dialing that number countless times without getting through, even a temperament as steady and calm as his grew impatient.

"Is there any news?" The call connected, and he asked urgently, his voice hoarse as if aged substantially in a short time.

Benny stood on the street, sighed, wanting to say "she’s fine, it was a false alarm," but—

"No, I’ve contacted clients in Dubai and Zurich to help check, but it’s chaotic there, and it might take a while to confirm anything."

Though expected, Christopher still found the answer hard to accept.

He realized that in extreme anxiety, one could forget how to breathe properly.

Clutching his phone, it felt like his soul was being drained, the world pulling away from him.

"Christopher, don’t panic yet. No news might be good news. I saw on the news that the plane didn’t completely crash; under these circumstances, it’s unlikely that everyone was affected... Maybe she was just scared or suffered minor injuries..."

Benny’s attempt at comfort was feeble, but it brought Christopher back from suffocation.

"Okay, notify me immediately if there’s news."

"Okay."

Worried that staying on the line might interfere with receiving messages on his end, Christopher hung up immediately.

The living room plunged back into silence; he sat there, voice hoarse, murmuring: Amelia, please be alright, please be alright...

Otherwise, he didn’t know how else he would muster the strength to carry on.

Even having three children wasn’t enough to provoke his desire to continue living.

Dubai International Airport, torrential rain, pitch black night.

A plane lay across the runway, all emergency slides deployed.

The nose section was still engulfed in thick, black smoke, the visible flames already extinguished, but the scene was dire, unbearable to behold.

"Shaw... Shaw! How are you?" Amelia Garcia was the first to be rescued, initially to be moved to a safe area, but she insisted on waiting there, worried about Shaw.

Seeing a familiar figure, she rushed forward, calling out urgently.

Shaw’s leg was trapped, just rescued, limping. Seeing Amelia, she lunged forward excitedly, the two holding each other tightly.

"Sis, we’re still alive... still alive, sob sob sob... I thought we were definitely going to die, sob sob sob—" Shaw cried uncontrollably, her words jumbled.

Amelia held her tightly, endrued from their brush with death, the emotions indescribable, totally unconcerned by the torrential rain soaking them.

The journey had been terrifying, fraught with dangers, still causing their bodies to tremble violently at the recollection, frightening them to their very souls.

The plane had been tossed in the air for so long, no one remembered how long, only that it suddenly lost altitude, the fear of weightlessness indistinguishable from freefall.

All oxygen masks had dropped down, everyone was crying, screaming, even the trained crew had lost their composure, reminding everyone to fasten their seat belts while making the sign of the cross, praying for divine intervention...

Finally, they could see the runway.

Everyone thought they were saved, that they wouldn’t die, but unexpectedly a strong gust like a wave hit, and the huge plane was instantly lifted off again, touching down but not fully on the ground.

Several violent impacts made everyone feel as if their internal organs were about to be thrown out, many vomiting uncontrollably, wails filling the air.

Then, the nose lifted again, and just when everyone was still puzzled, there was a sudden loud bang, all their ears ringing to deafness.

They had landed, but the plane was also ruined...

Amelia consoled Shaw, younger than her, but was unaware of what she was saying, just knowing she kept talking non-stop.

Only by talking could she feel alive.

Being alive felt so miraculous.

The scene was extremely chaotic, some walking down on their own, some being carried, others crying inconsolably, lying in the rain beside their deceased loved ones, unwilling to leave for a long time...

Staff continuously evacuated the crowd, Amelia watching the scene, her eyes dead and empty.

Shaw’s leg injury was worsening, and she finally snapped back to reality, hurriedly assisting Shaw towards the rescue zone with the staff.
