Scum Daddy Dreams Of Stealing My Mommy! -
Chapter 224: The Rider Pulled Out a Blade
Chapter 224: Chapter 224: The Rider Pulled Out a Blade
Amelia hurriedly called out, "Slow down! Wait for me!"
Christopher caught up, "I’m coming too."
"Making such a big deal out of walking the dog, are you afraid people won’t recognize you?" Amelia teased him, then turned to catch up with her sons when Hope cried out, "Mommy, I need to go to the bathroom, but I want to go walk Little Dunham!"
Amelia was torn, but when she turned around, the two brothers had already entered the elevator with Little Dunham.
Though Noah was sensible, the two children were only five years old after all; taking the elevator downstairs alone was still dangerous.
She was anxious and had no choice but to turn back and instruct someone, "Wait for Hope to finish in the bathroom, then bring her down! I’m going ahead!"
Amelia quickly pressed for another elevator and went down to find her two sons.
Noah and Ethan, holding Little Dunham, dashed out the moment the elevator doors opened.
Little Dunham, who had been closed in all day and had no one to play with, was excitedly sniffing here and there, constantly pulling on the leash to run ahead.
The two little fellows teamed up to barely control Little Dunham’s wildness.
"Hey kids, your dog is so cute! What’s its name?" A deliveryman passing by asked with a friendly smile.
Ethan, the chatterbox, proudly responded, "His name is Little Dunham, because he’s very chubby and eats a lot!"
"Really? That’s a nice name." The deliveryman walked along with them, continuing to compliment, and then, appearing very fond of dogs, asked, "Can I pet him? He’s just too adorable!"
Without waiting for the children’s response, the deliveryman squatted down, his large hand stroking Little Dunham a few times, then tickling the dog’s neck.
They stopped walking, and Noah warned, "Be careful, don’t let him bite you."
Mom had repeatedly instructed them to be careful when walking Little Dunham, not to let him get too close to strangers, especially children.
The deliveryman assured, "Don’t worry, I have a dog too, I’m experienced."
While talking, his hand reached into Little Dunham’s collar, his fingers secretly holding a barely noticeable blade.
"Noah!" Suddenly, a shout came from behind.
The little boy whirled around, raising his hand to greet, "Mom, we’re here!"
The sudden disruption startled the deliveryman, the blade intended for harm poking into his own finger, causing him to grimace in pain and quickly stand up.
"Alright kids, I need to go make deliveries, bye!"
The two children, oblivious to the looming danger and now leaving, also waved politely in farewell.
Amelia quickly approached, speaking with slight sternness, "From now on, you’re not allowed to come down alone! What if you can’t hold Little Dunham and he hurts another child?"
"Mom, my brother and I were holding him together, it’s okay," Ethan confidently replied.
"That’s not good enough, you must never take Little Dunham downstairs alone, an adult must be with you," Amelia instructed again.
"Understood, Mom," Noah responded.
After the deliveryman hurriedly left and walked some distance, he looked back, then pulled out his phone.
"Lily, I’m sorry... it was so close, that woman suddenly appeared, I almost got exposed, luckily I ran fast."
The deliveryman wasn’t inherently evil; it was his first time attempting such a thing, his heart was pounding, and his voice still trembling.
Lily Garcia, on hearing this, cursed, "You didn’t succeed? How could you be so clumsy! Do you know how rare this opportunity was?"
Minutes before, Lily Garcia had received a WhatsApp message from the deliveryman, saying he saw two children coming down alone to walk the dog, planning to seize the opportunity.
Lily Garcia was both excited and nervous, thinking it would be an instant success!
The man felt wronged, his finger still sore, but he remained silent.
"Forget it, you should leave for now, as long as you weren’t exposed, there will still be opportunities."
After hanging up, Lily Garcia pondered for a while, feeling she still needed to contact her brother.
Relying solely on this incompetent man wouldn’t get the job done.
When she was about to make the call, she hesitated again.
Although this number was a subsidiary card attached to the main card of a delivery person, nobody knew about it.
But she worried that Ethan had already been targeted by Christopher Hart, and if they traced this number, they might find her.
Just to be safe, it was better to borrow someone else’s phone.
So, Lily Garcia quickly got out of bed, disguised herself, went out and borrowed a mobile on the streets of a village within the city.
Meanwhile, as soon as his daughter had finished in the restroom, Christopher Hart immediately took the little girl downstairs to find Little Dunham.
Just as they exited the elevator, his phone rang.
"President Hart," Lucas King said sternly and urgently, "Jacob Garcia just called and said Lily Garcia contacted him again, still persuading him to approach the lady to abduct the child."
Christopher’s expression darkened slightly and he asked, "Did you lock onto the number?"
"Jacob said it was an unfamiliar number. I just called it back, and the person said it was a woman who borrowed his phone on the street, claiming she lost her phone and needed to contact her family."
"Look into it, find out where Lily borrowed the phone and search the area meticulously. Also, inform the police, having them join the search will speed things up."
"Alright, I’ll get on it right away."
After hanging up, Christopher thought for a moment, his face growing more serious. He quickly picked up his daughter and hastened to find the woman and his sons.
Amelia Garcia was walking the dog with her two sons, chatting about what had happened at daycare that day.
Seeing that both children liked the daycare, she felt quite relieved.
Christopher might be awful, but he was still reliable when it came to handling things.
Just as she thought of him, she looked up and saw him approaching quickly with his daughter.
Subconsciously, she looked left and right. Seeing many people out with their children in the community, she didn’t want to draw attention and reminded her sons, "Noah, Ethan, go upstairs; you can play with Little Dunham at home."
Ethan was reluctant, but his mother still pulled him away by the hand.
Seeing them turn back, Christopher unexpectedly raised his eyebrows slightly, "Already finished walking?"
The woman passed the dog leash to him, "Maybe you take over? I’ll go upstairs with the kids first?"
Christopher was at a loss for words.
Did his appearance and attire really make him look like someone who’d walk a dog?
"Let’s just go up, I need to discuss something with you." He continued, holding his daughter and matching her pace.
Amelia didn’t ask what it was, not wanting to engage.
But he spoke up anyway, "You should take the kids to stay at Imperial Garden. I suspect Lily knows about this place by now, and she might be plotting how to strike at you."
Amelia turned to look at him, rather surprised.
He went on to explain, "Lucas just called me, said Lily contacted your brother again, persuading him to approach you deliberately, to kidnap the children."
Amelia scoffed, "Do you think I’d fall for that? I wouldn’t allow him to meet the children at all!"
"I know you’re careful, but there’s always a chance. Until we locate Lily, we need to be more vigilant."
She stopped walking, her face full of mockery and skepticism, "Aren’t you the one with vast resources and capabilities? You can uncover things clearly abroad, so why is it so hard to find someone on your own turf?"
Christopher’s face fell, slightly embarrassed.
Indeed, this had been unexpected.
He had underestimated Lily’s capabilities.
A few seconds of silence passed between them, and for once, Christopher humbly admitted his fault, "I didn’t expect her to have learned to be smarter, using borrowed phones from strangers every time she contacts the outside world. But we’ve received timely information this time, we should be able to trace her through these leads and find her location."
Amelia rolled her eyes, "I hope so, or else how could you save face?"
