Scum Daddy Dreams Of Stealing My Mommy! -
Chapter 19 Christopher Hart is Here!
Chapter 19: Chapter 19 Christopher Hart is Here!
Aunt Harper saw Hope and immediately rushed over, "Oh my little ancestor, still so mischievious even when sick! It seems I must stick to you like glue."
Amelia Garcia wore a mask, and Aunt Harper was entirely focused on the child, so she didn’t pay attention to her face.
"Madam, thank you, thank you. This child is energetic and lively, just blinked, and she had run off. Thank you for watching her." Aunt Harper picked up Hope and repeatedly expressed her gratitude to Amelia Garcia.
"Don’t mention it. The child is very adorable. Take good care of her."
"Mm, thank you, thank you." Aunt Harper nodded again and again, holding Hope Hart as she turned to leave.
The little girl stretched out her hand backward, reluctant, "Mommy... come be with me, Hope wants mommy..."
Aunt Harper babbled, "You child, are you confused from the fever, where is your mother? Dad is already on his way to the hospital, let’s be good and behave, okay?"
Amelia Garcia watched her daughter leave and felt as if her heart was being torn apart. She so desperately wanted to always be with her little girl, to have her snuggle and be coquettish in her arms.
But then she remembered what the nanny said, Christopher Hart was on his way to the hospital, and she was suddenly alarmed!
Her son was still waiting in the lobby on the first floor; she mustn’t let Christopher discover him.
So, she collected her emotions and hurried down the stairs to take her son and quickly leave the hospital.
On the way home, Amelia Garcia was distracted.
Encountering her daughter was indeed a happy occasion, but subsequent troubles also followed.
The little girl would certainly mention to Christopher Hart that she had met her. If he became suspicious and investigated the hospital’s surveillance...
No! This thought made Amelia Garcia panic—she had to deal with the surveillance footage quickly!
She took out her phone and dialed an overseas call. After a while, the other side answered.
"Kane, sorry to disturb your sleep, can you help me with something?" Amelia Garcia spoke in fluent, authentic London English to her partner and the tech guru of the company, Kane.
On the other end, the man who was woken up didn’t show any irritation but instead responded warmly and tenderly, "It’s my honor to serve a beauty. What’s the matter?"
"Help me hack a hospital’s surveillance, erase Noah’s traces..."
In the backseat, Noah listened to his mother’s words, puzzled and confused.
Why did his mother want to hack the hospital surveillance? Did she also know something?
Kane was very efficient. Just as Amelia Garcia and her son got back to where they were staying, he had already sent a message: "Done!"
"That fast? Are you sure you erased all of Noah’s information?"
"Of course, as per your request, I kept yours and erased Noah’s. Don’t worry..."
Amelia Garcia breathed a sigh of relief, "Thanks a lot, I’ll treat you to a big meal when I return."
"Hold on. Clarke, can you tell me... what exactly is going on?" Kane asked, speaking in a not-so-fluent Chinese out of curiosity.
Amelia Garcia waited for Shaw to come downstairs, took her son upstairs first, then sat in the car and explained to Kane what had happened after returning to her country.
"I see, don’t worry... he won’t find anything. Clarke Norton is a real person... the information about the two brothers, I’ve already erased... even if he checks, he’ll only find a single female, an Asian designer, that’s all."
The man’s struggle with the awkward Chinese, confusing flat and rolling tongues, made Amelia Garcia frown frequently, prompting her to mercilessly tease, "How come your Chinese has regressed so much since I left?"
"Yeah... no one to teach me now, so... when are you coming back? I... miss you."
Amelia Garcia chuckled and sighed, "I don’t know, maybe very soon, or maybe..."
Before returning to her country, she had planned to stay until Hope’s surgery was done, and everything was confirmed to be well, and then she would leave.
But now she was hesitating.
Such a cute and well-behaved little girl would endear herself to a stranger at a glance, let alone her own mother.
Her studio was in the midst of preparations, and she even thought about staying in the country for the long term, focusing on the Asian market. That way, she wouldn’t neglect her work and could still "accompany" her daughter.
Kane, realizing her hesitation, understood, "Ah, I get it. You... ’can’t bear to leave.’"
"Ha, you even know about ’can’t bear to leave’." Amelia teased, her mind still on her sick son and not at ease, "Alright, I need to take care of the child. You go back to sleep!"
"Clarke!" Kane called after her, then suddenly said, "You promised before to give me... an opportunity. Does it still count?"
Huh?
Amelia was startled, then laughed, "Why are you suddenly thinking about this?"
"Because... you returned to your country, and you ran into your... ex-husband, I suddenly felt... a sense of crisis... I’ve been waiting for you for three years, and you said you’d give me a chance, I’m afraid..."
Amelia looked down, running a hand through her hair, her thoughts in disarray, "Kane, I really don’t want to think about romance for now. Let’s wait a little while longer, okay?"
The man, disappointed, said, "It seems... in your heart... there still resides, your ex-husband. I... am actually curious, what kind of person he is... if I get a chance, I... want to visit your country... and meet this man."
"You’re welcome to visit my country, but let’s forget about meeting him." Amelia responded politely, treating his words as a joke, and hung up the phone.
Kane was her business partner, straightforward and enthusiastic, who had been ardently pursuing her, but she had always found various reasons to reject him.
It wasn’t that he wasn’t a good match; it was more that, given Kane’s qualifications, he deserved a better woman, not worth becoming her son’s stepfather.
But Westerners aren’t typically bothered by such matters, so Kane didn’t consider it a problem, and despite multiple rejections, he was still persevering.
Amelia had just returned home when her phone rang again.
Looking at the flashing number on the screen, her heartbeat suddenly accelerated, veins throbbing in her head.
This number, even though she hadn’t thought of it in four years, still left a deep, indelible mark.
—Christopher Hart, he really reached out!
Unsure of what frame of mind to be in to answer this call, she stared at the phone for a good while, breathing rapidly, then with a resolute heart, she pressed the mute button and put away the phone.
On the other end, the man’s brows furrowed slightly, his eyes showing a deep and complex light, as he looked at the unanswered call.
Not answering the phone?
Laughable, is it guilt or something else?
The hallway surveillance clearly showed she had indeed been at the hospital, meaning her daughter hadn’t lied.
So, what was she doing at the hospital? Visiting a friend?
"Daddy, how is it? Did Mommy answer the call?" Hope Hart anxiously looked up at her father, shaking his arm eagerly.
Christopher showed his daughter the phone, "Couldn’t get through."
"Ah..." The little girl felt so disappointed, her cute little lips drooping, "Mommy was so happy to see me..."
"Really?" the man’s eyebrows lifted slightly, "What did you two talk about?"
"Not much... I had just met Mommy when Aunt Harper came and insisted on taking me away..." Hope complained unhappily, then suddenly perked up, "Oh right, I also met that young man! Too bad I didn’t put the photo in my pocket; when I went to look for him again, he was gone..."
"What young man?" the man gently inquired, following his daughter’s lead.
