Chapter 162: Chapter 162: Believe It or Not, I’ll Pin You Down and Kiss You Right Here!
Christopher’s gaze darkened as he realized, "You’re talking about that actress?"
"Do you have any other girlfriends?"
"How can she be worthy to be my girlfriend?"
"Hah! Christopher, I never noticed how trashy you are deep down!"
Amelia ridiculed harshly, pushed him away, took Hope by the hand, and called Kane as they walked toward the tent.
Christopher stood frozen in place for a while, noticing that many people around him were staring with strange looks in their eyes, clearly perceiving him as the other man, and said discontentedly, "That’s my daughter! The mother of my daughter!"
The children were scared by his outburst, and the adults quickly shielded their kids, watching him warily, probably thinking this man was crazy, and they quickly walked away with their children, murmuring to themselves.
President Hart’s lifetime of prestige shattered once again into pieces.
Upon returning to the "base camp" and seeing the trio eating and drinking merrily, the man felt a suffocating frustration ignite into flames.
Seeing that the sun was strong, Kane quickly fetched the sports bag he was carrying and pulled out a sun hat.
Amelia noticed the sudden shade over her head and touched it with a surprised smile, "You even thought to bring a hat, thank you."
The tall, imposing foreign man smiled and pulled out a small rechargeable fan from the bag, "Baby Hope, are you hot?"
The little girl, already red-faced and sweaty, joyfully took the small fan saying, "Thank you, Uncle Kane."
The next second, the pink fan in the little girl’s hand was snatched away.
Simultaneously, the sun hat on Amelia’s head was snatched away too.
Even worse, Mr. Hart yanked off the hat and flung it away.
The wide-brimmed hat flew like a flying disc, tracing a perfect arc and steadily soaring far away.
"Are you sick!" Amelia immediately got angry, turned around to scold, and stood up to retrieve it.
Kane stopped her, "You stay with Hope. I’ll go get it."
Amelia sat back down, her beautiful eyes glaring furiously at someone, "Mr. Hart, can you be any more childish?"
President Hart was unbothered, pulled his own baseball cap from the bag carrying his daughter’s stuff, and put it on her head without asking, "Isn’t this better looking than that old-fashioned hat? And you call yourself a fashion person."
"I like that kind of wide-brimmed hat, what about it!" She defiantly tried to remove the baseball cap.
"If you dare take it off, believe it or not, I’ll pin you down here and kiss you!"
"You—"
Amelia stared at him, furious like a frog that had drunk too much water!
"You’re just a hooligan!"
Christopher smiled without saying anything, sat down on the ground, unscrewed a bottle of water, gulped down half, and then said leisurely, "Who told you to bring your lover in front of me to show off your love."
"..." Amelia, exasperated, could only grit her teeth.
Kane returned with the hat, noticed the baseball cap on her head, and shrugged helplessly with a smile.
Amelia stood up, took the wide-brimmed hat from his hands, removed the baseball cap, and tossed it back to someone, then put on her wide-brimmed hat.
Hope, eating her fruit quietly on the side, watched silently.
Worried that her mom and dad might start arguing again, she quickly hugged her fruit box, knelt, and rushed into her father’s arms, "Daddy, please don’t be angry. Uncle Kane is very nice."
"Silly girl!" Christopher looked at his daughter, anger not finding a place to vent.
Yet, in front of Amelia and his rival, he couldn’t "teach" his daughter a lesson.
"Hope isn’t silly! Uncle Kane likes Mom."
"You know that and yet you still play with him?"
"He likes me too!"
"What about Daddy’s previous girlfriends who also liked you? Why didn’t you accept them?"
"Humph!" Hope wrinkled her nose, defiantly saying while leaning into her father’s arms, "They don’t really like me! They just pretend to like me to please you."
This statement stunned all the adults.
A child of four or five, already understanding the adult world’s insincerity?
Amelia saw that her own daughter had rendered him speechless and felt inexplicably better, sneering, "Some people have eyes just for decoration; who knows what they’re seeing."
Christopher Hart: "..."
His taste was impeccable.
Those women had never caught his eye.
His beloved had always been just one from start to finish.
Suddenly, nobody was talking anymore, Kane sat down next to Amelia, and she immediately offered him some food.
However, Christopher Hart snatched it away before Kane could even pick up a piece of fruit.
"..." Amelia glared at him and grabbed the snacks back.
Christopher reached out again.
This time, Amelia moved quickly and smacked the back of his hand hard.
Christopher frowned, "You hit so hard!"
"If I had a knife, you’d be missing a paw right now."
His words inexplicably brought a vivid image to mind, causing Christopher to pale as if frightened, and he quietly kept his hands to himself, sitting obediently.
Only then did Amelia bring the food closer, "This is all made by his family’s chef, it tastes pretty good, try some."
"Thanks."
She said it without much thought, but Kane detected something intriguing in her words.
And their interaction.
Perhaps outsiders felt they were at loggerheads, but for some reason, he felt they were more like bickering lovers.
It wasn’t easy for Kane.
Yet, he could see that she was putting in great effort to be his girlfriend.
With time comes affection, he believed his sincerity would eventually win her over completely.
The moment calmed briefly as they enjoyed the clear autumn day, the cheerful and peaceful scene before them made their spirits soar like colorful bubbles in the wind.
Suddenly, Kane’s phone rang.
Amelia brought her daughter over, wiped the girl’s sweat, and paid no attention to Kane.
— Until he answered a couple of sentences on the phone, stood up with it, and looked rather serious.
Amelia glanced at Kane, her brow furrowed with worry, wondering if there was an issue at the company.
But Christopher watched Kane, a mysterious smile curling the corners of his mouth as if the gloomy clouds in his chest had suddenly cleared to a sunny day.
"There are clothes here; take her into the tent to change," Christopher reminded.
Amelia felt her daughter’s back, sure enough, the clothes were sweaty, "Let’s go change clothes."
Mother and daughter went inside, Kane came back.
"Mr. Kane, you look upset, what happened?" Christopher asked, feigning concern.
Kane ignored him, standing outside the tent, "Qin, I have to go now."
"Ah?" Amelia poked her head out from the tent, "What happened?"
"Nothing much, my sister called, saying a friend is coming to visit here, and asked me to host them. They’re almost at the airport."
"You’re going to pick them up at the airport?"
"Yeah."
"Alright then, take care driving."
"Got it."
After being rear-ended by Christopher and almost ending up in jail, Kane had applied for a domestic driver’s license.
Before leaving, he suddenly thought of something and said to Christopher, "I have your license now."
"Tch—" President Hart expressed he completely didn’t care.
