Scum Daddy Dreams Of Stealing My Mommy!
Chapter 113: The Leg is Broken

Chapter 113: Chapter 113: The Leg is Broken

Emma Carter discussed it with her daughter and husband, and all three unanimously decided to give Amelia Garcia a hand, allowing her to take Hope away and henceforth be free of any entanglements.

Wendy Hart still felt that letting Amelia Garcia go so easily was really letting her off the hook.

But considering the proverbial "Long night full of dreams," and her own failing health not allowing her to properly deal with that woman, she felt indignant yet helpless.

Once the decision was made, they used Wendy’s discharge from the hospital as a pretext to set up a family banquet, ensuring that Christopher Hart had to return to the ancestral home for dinner.

Christopher knew this was a set-up, but thought it would be a good opportunity to make his position clear, so he arranged for his daughter and went back home in the evening.

The house was bustling.

Wendy Hart had another close brush with death, and coming back from the hospital was certainly a cause for celebration, so many relatives of the Hart Family came.

As they saw Christopher’s car drive into the old mansion, the elders exchanged glances, their expressions varied.

When Christopher walked through the door, everyone’s face lit up with a smile, "Christopher’s back."

Being polite and courteous, Christopher exchanged pleasantries with the elders and upon seeing his mother walking towards him, he quietly called out, "Mom."

Seeing her son, Emma’s heart was filled with dissatisfactions, but her face couldn’t show it, and she responded in a low voice, "I thought you weren’t going to come back."

"Wendy’s been discharged, how could I, as her brother, not come back to see her?" he answered in an even tone.

"Good that you know."

As usual, Wendy was sitting in a wheelchair, appearing even frailer than before.

Seeing her brother, she smiled faintly, "Brother."

Christopher sat down beside her, his face calm and his tone low as he asked, "Was it your idea to send Lily Garcia to my home office to look for evidence?"

The smile on Wendy’s face suddenly froze.

Seeing his sister’s reaction, Christopher had his answer.

Lily Garcia was simple-minded, but his sister, although frail, had a clever heart.

Without her direction, Lily would not have come up with such a scheme.

"Wendy, worrying too much is harmful to your health. I can take care of my own business; you just focus on getting better and spending more time with mom and dad, that’s all," he gently advised.

After giving his guidance, the man got up, gently patted his sister’s shoulder, and walked away.

Wendy watched her brother’s retreating figure with a face full of sorrow and reluctance.

At the banquet, the atmosphere was fairly harmonious.

However, after three rounds of wine, one of the senior family members spoke up.

"Christopher, what’s been going on with you lately... those messy news stories online, everyone knows about them, there’s been a lot of rumors behind your back within the company."

"Yes, we used to think you were mature and stable, albeit a bit domineering and aggressive, but your capability was unquestionable, and you’ve managed the company well these past few years, we all respected you. But look at what’s happening now, for a woman, you’re practically ruining your reputation!"

The others echoed, collectively pressuring their son, and George Hart was not pleased.

Before he could speak, Christopher put down his utensils and looked toward the complaining elders.

"Uncle, did you receive your salary and bonus on time this month?"

"Yes, yes I did..."

"Was it less than last month?"

Realizing what was implied, the man’s face couldn’t hold his embarrassment, "No, no it wasn’t...actually it was a bit more."

"Then there’s no problem, right? What you care about is the profits at hand. Since there’s been neither delay nor decrease, what’s there to complain about?"

When this statement was made, the dinner table immediately fell into silence. Everyone exchanged looks, silently drinking and eating.

No one brought up the topic again until the end of the meal.

Who could argue when he was the successor personally chosen by the old man?

Who could complain when their own children weren’t as capable?

After dinner, the relatives left one after another.

Christopher checked his watch, eager to return to the hospital to be with his daughter. He turned to his parents and got straight to the point, "You asked me to come back, and it’s definitely not just for a meal. Let’s talk directly."

Wendy Hart raised her eyes to look at her mother.

Emma Carter sat up straight and spoke decisively, "You know well that we indeed have something to tell you."

Christopher didn’t respond and waited quietly on the side.

"Two things. First, the idea of you remarrying Amelia Garcia is utterly impossible."

"We showed you a lot of respect tonight by not discussing Amelia’s matter with them. Do you know what the consequences would have been? Not a single member of the Hart Family would agree to let you marry her again!"

Emma’s tone was very stern. Seeing that her son remained silent, she continued after a pause.

"Second, her return this trip is all for that girl’s sake."

"After carefully considering it with your father, we decided that, since she is a girl and cannot carry on the family legacy, you might as well let her take her away. Cut ties once and for all to avoid further entanglements. With your conditions, are you worried you won’t be able to find another woman or have children?"

The more Christopher listened, the colder his expression became until the very air around him seemed to freeze and fall.

When his mother finished speaking, he countered without courtesy, "Since a girl can’t carry on the family legacy either, why then didn’t you send Wendy away as soon as she was born?"

George Hart’s brows furrowed sharply, "You scoundrel! Wendy is your sister. What nonsense are you talking?"

"Hope is my biological daughter. You’re asking me to abandon my own flesh and blood, isn’t that nonsense?"

"You—"

Emma had not considered this aspect about her daughter.

Caught off guard by her son’s retort, she felt as if she had shot herself in the foot and couldn’t immediately think of a comeback.

Seeing that her husband also couldn’t win the argument, Emma Carter became irrational, "How can that girl compare to Wendy? Your father and I have a great relationship—what reason do we have not to raise our own daughter? You’ve been divorced for more than four years now. How hard it must be for a grown man to take care of a child, right? Since she insists on it, just give her the child. Otherwise, she will blame you."

Christopher shot a glance at his mother, "Did she get you to persuade me?"

"..." Emma Carter was taken aback and immediately lost her confidence, changing the subject, "Don’t worry about these things, just settle this matter quickly. Give the child to her and cut ties completely. As for Lily Garcia, marry her if you want, but if you can get rid of her, that’s for the best."

Wendy Hart, who had been silent for so long, suddenly looked up, "Mom, what’s wrong with Lily? Why are you also supporting my brother not wanting her?"

Emma replied, "Hasn’t she caused enough trouble these days? If it hadn’t been for her saving your life, I would have found even the sight of her repulsive. And her mother... such character! Sitting with that kind of in-laws, I can’t even eat my food!"

Wendy Hart had a good relationship with Lily Garcia. Hearing her mother speak like that, she said softly and weakly, "Mom... why do you always look down on people? Aunt Marshall used to be so good to us. If it weren’t for you, Lily wouldn’t have donated her kidney to me. It was all because my brother let Lily down, and Aunt Marshall got angry..."

"Silly girl! Defending outsiders over your own brother?" Emma Hart replied, cutting her off in a low voice.

Wendy Hart pursed her lips and muttered softly, not daring to speak up again.

The atmosphere suddenly grew tense as Christopher’s phone rang abruptly.

Everyone looked at him.

He took out his phone, saw it was Lucas King, and answered, "Hello?"

"President Hart, there’s trouble! Lily Garcia fell from upstairs and broke her leg."
