Chapter 110: Chapter 110 Large Group Fight Scene 2
"The person you’re looking for is me, don’t drag others into this!" he finally spoke, his face stern and his tone icy.
Fiona Marshall burst out, "How is she innocent? You and Lily were discussing marriage, and then this woman suddenly shows up. Just because she has a face like Amelia’s, are you bewitched to the point that you’ve adamantly refused Lily? Is she still innocent?"
With these words, both Amelia Garcia and Emma Carter were secretly shocked.
Did Fiona Marshall really not know?
Beyond her astonishment, Amelia Garcia instinctively looked at Christopher Hart and immediately understood.
So Lily’s "sudden disappearance" must have been his attempt to block the news—to protect her.
But how did Emma Carter know?
Upon further reflection, it was probably because Lily, after learning the truth, had immediately told Wendy Hart, given their life-saving friendship, their "true love."
Sorting everything out, Amelia Garcia’s feelings were complex.
She didn’t want to owe Christopher Hart anything, yet this man had been supporting her silently from behind, forcing her to owe him another favor.
No!
Had he not investigated her identity, done the DNA test, and kept the test results, then Lily wouldn’t have found the evidence.
Ultimately, all these troubles were brought by him.
Thus, she didn’t owe this bastard any favor.
Seeing Fiona Marshall unaware of the truth, Emma Carter, although surprised, actually breathed a sigh of relief.
It was better Fiona didn’t know; otherwise, she would be even more furious, and who knows how she would pressure them.
They could delay the issue for a day, giving her time to deal with Amelia Garcia before figuring out how to cope with the Garcia Family.
Despite her countless dissatisfaction with her son, in front of outsiders, she still had to protect her family.
"Fiona, calm down first, don’t make everyone aware of this," Emma Carter urged Fiona Marshall as they walked a few steps inside, and with her other hand, she closed the door.
Fiona Marshall was unconvinced, looking aside and scoffing coldly, "Now you care about losing face? When it was all over the internet earlier, I didn’t see you caring so much!"
"We did care, but it had already blown up like that, what could we do? Let’s talk calmly now."
Emma Carter had never bowed her head in her life, but now she had to maintain a good temper to clean up her son’s mess.
"Don’t worry, whatever Christopher has promised, he will do it. If Lily is really with him, he must have arranged it specially for her—keeping her away from external disturbances and letting her recover peacefully, so she can be a beautiful bride, right?"
Amelia Garcia, standing aside, was once again in awe of her former mother-in-law’s eloquent persuasion.
But Christopher Hart ignored his mother’s words, his eyes fixed only on Amelia Garcia standing at the doorway.
His gaze was deep and dark, complicated with both affection and resentment.
No matter how persuasive Emma Carter was, Fiona Marshall didn’t believe her anymore.
Annoyed, she shook off Emma Carter’s arm, huffing coldly, "Do you think I’m a three-year-old child? To fool me with these words! Even if your son really did this out of conscience, wouldn’t he give her a phone? I can’t even reach Lily!"
Emma Carter was at a loss for words and didn’t know how to smooth things over; she turned to look at her son, hoping he would say something to calm the situation.
But when she turned her eyes, fury ignited!
Here she was, swallowing her pride for a lifetime, trampled underfoot, and this instigator was staring unblinkingly at that contemptible woman!
"Christopher!" suppressing her anger, Emma Carter strode over and grabbed her son, "Clean up this mess you’ve made! Are you trying to kill me?!"
Christopher Hart, pulled away, had to first address Fiona Marshall.
Amidst this, Amelia Garcia didn’t want to get involved and, unnoticed, quietly walked over to the hospital bed.
Seeing her mother, Hope immediately didn’t want Aunt Harper and flung herself into her mother’s arms.
Mother and daughter, one looking up, the other bowing her head, one smiling until her eyes curved, the other gently stroking her head.
Emma Carter watched this scene in silence, so angered she felt like she was about to have a heart attack, her molars quivering as she clenched them.
Christopher Hart glanced at Fiona Marshall and finally explained, "Your daughter is doing fine. She’s living in a villa, well-fed and well-kept. As for why I won’t let her out, you can only blame her."
"Ha! So it was you who locked her up! Is there no law left? Even if my daughter made a mistake, you have no right to restrict her personal freedom!" Fiona started shouting again.
"Mrs. Garcia, she went there voluntarily; I didn’t force her. Besides, I’m doing this for her own good. She keeps seeking death as if it’s a game, and if something really happened, remorse would be too late."
"You—"
Fiona tried to interrupt but was stopped by Christopher Hart, "I really don’t have the time to entertain her antics. If you disagree with my approach, then I’ll have no choice but to call the psychiatric hospital and have her sent there for treatment."
That was so typical of Christopher Hart.
It was clearly his fault, yet he managed to shake off all responsibility completely.
And he went as far as to utterly vilify Lily Garcia.
—Calling her insane.
Amelia Garcia, lying on the hospital bed, heard this and couldn’t help but sneer in her heart.
The Hart mother and son’s talent for persuasive speaking truly ran in the family.
She wondered if Lily actually had mental issues or why she would rush to marry such a man. What was she aiming for?
Thinking this, Christopher Hart’s words seemed not entirely without merit—Lily Garcia indeed appeared mentally disordered.
Fiona Marshall had jumped around making a scene for so long, only to be dismissed lightly by a few words from Christopher Hart. How could she possibly feel resigned?
But no matter how much more she made a fuss, she could never outmaneuver Christopher Hart.
If he truly made that call to the psychiatric hospital, and her daughter was taken away, then upon a medical examination...
If the truth came to light, losing both money and dignity would be the least of their problems; they might also be disgraced and potentially face charges of "organ trafficking", ending up in prison!
Pondering this, Fiona Marshall felt a chill and immediately changed her attitude drastically.
"Christopher, if you really don’t like her, calling off the marriage is fine. Just hand her over to me, I’ll take good care of her and ensure she won’t bother you anymore."
As soon as she said this, everyone in the room was taken aback, looking towards Fiona Marshall in confusion.
Emma Carter paused for a moment, then suddenly asked with a smile, "And you can decide this for Lily?" In her heart, she didn’t want this daughter-in-law either.
"I’m her mother, of course I can!"
Michael Garcia muttered from the side, "I see you’ve tried to persuade her several times, but it was useless..."
"Shut up!" Fiona glared fiercely at him then looked back at Christopher Hart, much calmer, "Christopher, where is she? I’ll go fetch her and make sure to keep a close eye on her."
Christopher Hart frowned slightly, unmoved, "I can’t let you take her back just yet. I need to have a proper talk with her and reach an understanding. Once done, my men will safely escort her home."
Fiona exploded again upon hearing this, "Why? By what right do you confine my daughter! Christopher Hart, you—"
Emma Carter knew her son’s reasoning and also understood that Lily Garcia, deluded, wouldn’t listen to her own mother, so she had no choice but to mediate, "Fiona, calm down. Christopher said a few days, so let it be a few days. He’ll definitely send her back."
"So even if she can’t leave now, can I just go and see her?"
"No."
"What about a phone call?"
"No."
"You—"
