Chapter 101: Chapter 101 Finding DNA Identification

"Relax, you take the bed, I’m not that kind of guy. I’ll sleep on the couch," he said, turning his head to point with his chin towards the living room to soothe her worries.

Amelia Garcia sat upright, pursed her lips, and remained silent.

"Do you need help taking off your shoes?" he teased, pretending to bend down.

The woman startled and hurriedly stopped him, "No, I’ll do it myself!"

She shuffled and kicked off her shoes, slowly moving her bottom down as she lay back.

Christopher Hart stood beside the bed, looking down at her from above.

Amelia tensed again, clutching the edges of the blanket at her shoulders as if to guard against him pouncing at any moment. Then she pointed a finger toward the couch.

"It’s getting late... You must have had a tough few days too. Go get some sleep," she urged.

The man remained still but a smile clearly emerged on his handsome face.

Amelia’s heart raced, praying the dim light hid her blushing.

Christopher turned away, but his mind replayed her adorable, clumsy actions.

She certainly didn’t realize that the more she guarded, the more enticing she seemed.

Regrettably, the timing wasn’t right, and he could only fantasize in his mind.

After Christopher went to the restroom to wash up, Amelia slowly relaxed.

Tonight, they had to share a room. Hopefully, all would be well.

As the night deepened, she felt physically unwell and quickly drifted off with her eyes closed.

But discomfort in her waist and abdomen kept her turning and tossing.

When Christopher finished, he saw the figure on the accompanying bed still shifting and paused, then walked to the door and quietly left.

A while later, he returned with a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel.

Amelia felt warmth on her abdomen and sensed someone beside her. When she slightly opened her eyes, she flinched, "What are you doing?"

"A hot water bottle to make you more comfortable."

He leaned over, slipping the hot water bottle against her belly.

Amelia felt it and instantly became emotionally unsteady, lying there as if on fire.

Had he taken the wrong medicine today?

When they were married before, he had never cared this much.

Yet tonight, he seemed to have reverted to the caring Brother Christopher of his younger years.

Dumbstruck, Amelia forgot to resist or reciprocate, simply letting him position the hot water bottle and tuck the blanket around her.

"Alright, go to sleep. I’m exhausted from the business trip," he said with a smile, gently stroking her hair as if soothing his daughter.

Amelia continued to be shocked, her eyes even showing a hint of "horror."

It wasn’t until he bent down and gently kissed her forehead that she trembled as if electrocuted and blurted out, "Are you Christopher Hart?"

"Ha..." The man laughed softly, then flicked her forehead, "What do you think?"

Amelia felt a throb on her forehead; the sudden switch from a kiss to a flick was truly... schizophrenic.

Definitely Christopher Hart in person!

But his actions tonight were simply bizarre.

Seeing her staring at him with wide, naive eyes as if her mind had been kicked by a donkey, the man stood straight, simultaneously covering her eyes with his hand.

"Don’t stare at me like that, or it won’t just be a kiss."

Amelia’s body buzzed, and she slapped his hand away, spitting out "Jerk," before turning over with the hot water bottle, facing away from him.

The man curved his lips into a silent, shallow smile, stood up, and walked to the couch, lying down stiffly.

Over the past two days of business trips, he had visited three places, and the company’s projects were finally almost dealt with.

The forty-eight hours apart also allowed him to think about how to handle the current mess.

Lily Garcia was like sticky plaster that couldn’t be shaken off, and on her side, if it wasn’t genuine affection, he certainly couldn’t hold onto her.

After much thought, and with Benny Palmer’s advice, he decided to face his own heart.

"If you can’t let someone go, treat them well. Speak kindly, act kindly, don’t start with venomous words or impulsively kiss them—women, actually, have tender hearts, and by gently coaxing them, they can easily fall."

Those were Benny’s exact words.

So tonight, upon returning, he tried to find himself from over a decade ago, not thinking about what happened over the years, just pretending she was still the little girl who followed him around calling him "Brother Christopher."

But it seemed...

Ineffective.

In the silence, Christopher Hart turned over and lay on his side on the sofa, his eyes quietly staring at that silhouette in the darkness.

————

Lily Garcia hadn’t visited the hospital in the past few days not because she had suddenly realized and decided to let go, but because she was desperately looking for evidence.

She had to prove that Amelia was Fox Spirit.

Alas, after several days of busy work, she had achieved nothing.

In the end, it was Wendy Hart’s idea.

"If my brother has already confirmed her identity, there’s a good chance he has evidence. Try to look through his desks, both at the office and at home; you might find some traces."

So, bolstered by courage, Lily Garcia first went to the Imperial Garden Villa.

The servants greeted her politely as she got out of the car: "Miss Lily, the master isn’t home. If you’re looking for him, you might try the office or the hospital."

Lily Garcia, of course, knew that Christopher Hart wasn’t home; otherwise, how could she dare to come?

"Is Christopher really not here? He’s been angry and refuses to see me these past few days, and I can’t find him anywhere."

With a sorrowful expression, Lily insisted on entering the villa, searching high and low, "Christopher... Christopher~ Christopher, I know I was wrong, don’t hide from me..."

Once again, the servants explained: "Miss Lily, the master really isn’t home."

"I don’t care; if he’s not here, I’ll wait until he returns!" Lily declared arrogantly, crossing her arms and settling down on the sofa.

Seeing they could not persuade her, the servants reluctantly went about their own business, leaving her to wait in silence.

Sitting sulkily, once the living room servants had all busied themselves elsewhere, she looked around, got up, and quietly went upstairs to the study.

After a thorough search, all she found were documents, and no suspicious evidence.

Lily was significantly frustrated—was she going to hit a dead end again? Should she try the company?

But the CEO’s office must be even harder to search...

Anxiously irritated, she opened the last drawer of the desk, just as her hand was about to reach in, her eyes suddenly widened, and her expression froze!

After a moment, she hurriedly took out the document, flipped it open, and her heart felt like it had been struck!

Oh, God!

Their guess was right; Fox Spirit was indeed Amelia Garcia!

She wasn’t dead; she was alive and well, having returned with a new name and identity!

And Christopher had known all this!

He must want to get back together, no wonder he treated her this way!

Suddenly, there was a noise from outside; Lily Garcia snapped back to her senses, not having time to be shocked or angry, she quickly took out her phone and photographed the documents.

With irrefutable evidence, she was ready to "crush" that vile woman!
