Chapter 847 - 847 574 Guidance of Fate_2
Chapter 847: Chapter 574 “Guidance of Fate”_2 Chapter 847: Chapter 574 “Guidance of Fate”_2 A shattered Twilight Angel lay dead some kilometers away, emanating a dimming amber glow similar to a setting sun.
Clearly, the battle here had employed the latest achievements, those mighty mystic arts and various technologies once acquired from other worlds…
Yet the result seemed no better for it.
The old man gazed at this scene for a long while before finally sighing and approaching Colin’s side, observing the young man who had once again fallen into unconsciousness. Then his right hand slowly lifted, as if cradling an invisible “book”, from which special, intangible “Book of Fate” pages fell like leaves.
They landed on Colin, wrapping him in layers so dense light could not penetrate.
Before long, Colin came to and found his body much more comfortable:
“It feels much better…”
The negative effects persisted, but his head was not as throbbing, and most importantly, his cognitive ability and speed had returned to at least a normal human level, and he could hold a simple conversation.
Not as before, when even speaking was a luxury.
“Mm…” Old Master Wu nodded, pupils moving with black lines that seemed to check Colin’s injuries, before he continued to speak.
“Your situation is dire, and I can’t solve it, but to offer you some concealment, to prevent those extra-specimen entities from targeting you, that I can manage—if you refrain from using that Flame explosively, they should shield you for a while. I don’t know how long, but, as long as possible.”
“I can sense you seem to need to break through the Blockade, to reach the ocean, but now is not the time. Their divine powers have not fully dissipated, so I advise against moving now. At least in the future I glimpsed, it’s virtually impossible for you or me. And afterward, I can’t offer further help. When the timing is right, I will have run out of Time…”
“The path ahead is yours to walk alone.”
“Moreover, you seem to have the slightest inclination towards throwing in the towel. Remember, do not choose death lightly. I’ve sacrificed much to save you, not just me. I sense others, unknown to me, have made sacrifices and rushed for your sake…”
“We may not necessarily win, but please do your utmost. Next, take care of yourself. The right time will soon come. I guess, it should be when the ‘Red Moon’ fully lands and its pollution covers the world. Those so-called ‘Gods’ wouldn’t dare move during the ‘Red Moon’s’ period…”
“After that, pinpointing your exact location, They won’t risk an unclear cost to target you directly…”
“The aura of the Red Moon will take at least half a year to fade, slower, and it might be years…”
“When the time comes, you can strive… set sail for the ocean, and then, I can no longer see…”
The old man droned on until there, then fell silent, seemingly finished with his instructions, as if waiting for Colin, who was affected by negative effects, to digest his words.
After a moment, Colin, having pondered with difficulty, nodded slightly: “That’s enough.”
It was then he belatedly realized Old Master Wu seemed somewhat off…
“So, Colin, I wish you the best of luck…” said the old man with a sigh.
“Is that ‘good luck’?”
“No, it’s just a blessing, a regular one… My power is no longer sufficient to sway your fate.”
Colin reflected silently for several minutes: “Seems like it’s not something good…”
“No, it’s one of the few good things.”
Old Master Wu said with a headshake and a smile, not explaining why, but instead, he turned and walked step by step towards the edge of this deserted skyscraper, closing the conversation:
“It seems, I’m going ahead of you.”
As he spoke, he stood at the skyscraper’s edge, overlooking the vast and desolated land, his smile slowly fading.
Those eyes, as if reflecting ages of settlement, worn but filled with a strong will, mirrored everything ahead like panes of glass.
The once thriving city before him, now seemed low and empty in the wake of the disaster.
Who knew if the hundreds of thousands or millions of buildings collapsed into utter ruins, leaving countless people crushed to death, buried deep, only corruption and the stench of death flowing…
Among such a hellish landscape of ruins, he saw countless Lifelines of Fate…
In those innumerable threads, the resentment shown by people in extreme despair, the immeasurable hardships and choices, the incalculable deaths and helplessness…
Countless Threads of Fate snapped here…
Like reaped straw…
The weight of life, so trivial.
“These people, shouldn’t have just died here.”
Old Master Wu supported that phantom book, and with a tone as calm as it was roaring, declared as if making a proclamation:
“As the Bonfire witnesses! I shall commence another round here, to grant those unwilling to fall here another life, to transcend their doomed fate, to challenge this catastrophe that for them, is utterly undeserved!
“Now, regarding their ‘death’…
“I, with the witness of ‘Bonfire’ and the ‘Book of Fate’, shall pronounce it null!”
During this declaration, he no longer concealed himself, exposed to the countless “unknowns” below, engaging directly with the “Gods”!
