SCP Corporation: Contain Bonfire
Chapter 724 - 724 I love you

Chapter 724: I love you Chapter 724: I love you “I should start getting prepared as well,”

Mr. Colin pursed his lips, knowing that controlling such a massive scale of flames was not something that could be achieved in a normal state.

He needed every buff he could get, whether it was Item Liberation or other enhancements.

The time it took to prepare was about the same as Xu Duojin’s time to escape…

After thirty minutes of continuous effort, Mr. Colin’s aura had reached its peak, the searing flames like a little sun amidst the mist.

With a “snap”,

Mr. Colin snapped his fingers.

The next second, in the dim nation of islands, torrents of scorching flames rose, with even the smallest bonfire reaching over a kilometer in height.

Connected with these flames, Mr. Colin had a macroscopic view as if the entire island lay beneath his gaze.

Then, before the anomalies had a chance to retaliate, he didn’t hesitate to throw the “token” directly into the massive bonfire outside Mist City, which seemed to burn through the sky…

“Hmm…”

It was the moment the “token” left his hands that Mr. Colin felt a piercing pain in his brain, under assault by a massive psychic attack.

But these attacks were not fatal to him…

And most importantly, the “token” fell unaffected into the largest bonfire.

Then, all the bonfires erupted violently, connecting to one another, forming an immense sea of fire!

Over fifty percent of the island was engulfed by the light of the flames…

Even from space, it was likely visible!

Lighting up a country, this was indeed the largest flame Mr. Colin had ever set ablaze in his lifetime, and it was unmatched!

“Ssss…”

Meanwhile, the people outside the island, bathed in the glow of the fire and shocked by the massive blaze, heard the countless wails of strange creatures and couldn’t help but shiver.

However, within seconds, they quickly realized…

Inside the area covered by the flames, everything seemed to be slowly disappearing, obscured by a layer of smog that was different from the haze, then detaching from reality, drawn into an unknown dimension.

“The ‘Haze Angel’, damn! Don’t burn the ‘Haze Angel’ too…” someone called out belatedly.

Suddenly, a group of people became nervous as they realized something.

And it was at that moment, Mr. Colin ran into trouble. He saw all the haze in the flames reversing, gathering in front of him to form a vague childlike figure with wings of mist on its back.

Above the childlike figure’s head, a halo ceaselessly churned out stinging, choking haze…

This entity, upon appearing, reached out its hands like a child yearning for an embrace, taking slow steps toward Mr. Colin.

Within the haze, numerous figures wailed, as though they were suffering extreme agony…

‘What’s going on?’

Mr. Colin’s expression turned solemn; this entity’s level was not low, but what was odd was that it didn’t have the destructive power of a Level 1 Containment Subject, yet it obviously exceeded Level 2…

Maybe it should be categorized as a top-end special Level 2 Containment Subject, or perhaps he should report back to the company later.

Should they add a new level for containment subjects that are one step and a half into the lower Level 1 category?

While thoughts flickered in his mind, Mr. Colin’s phone suddenly rang. After connecting, Xu Duojin’s voice quickly came through:

“Mr. Colin, the people here have asked me to tell you not to burn the ‘Haze Angel’ too, to keep it for them to handle later, and they are willing to offer a generous reward if you can prevent it from escaping…”

Mr. Colin opened his mouth about to speak, but the signal was abruptly cut off.

And the one cutting off the signal was…

Mr. Colin looked up ahead, to see the childlike “Haze Angel” trembling, as if in great fear.

“Save me… save me… please don’t…”

“Please stop hurting me…”

“I’m begging you…”

“No more pain and whipping…”

“Let me rest a bit…”

“Please… let there be a place where it’s not cold…”

“I haven’t eaten for so many days…”

“I beg you…”

“Please take us with you… warm people…”

From the rolling haze, countless whispers could be heard, along with dense shadows, among which there were children as small as monkeys with limbs crippled by factory machinery, workers wasted away by tuberculosis and incessant whipping, people frozen stiff as they hung from ropes, women, and children who had endured endless torment…

In their innate desire for warmth and heat, they reached out to Colin, trying to grasp even a sliver of warmth and hope.

But the intense resentment emanating from them, thick as if it couldn’t dissipate, left Colin feeling a strong sense of suffocation.

It was as though what he saw wasn’t a crowd of people, but an entire era…

Such suffering, he truly found hard to bear.

Yet it was at that moment that a task notification sprang forth from his mind.

[Temporary Event: “Contain the ‘Haze Angel’ using the Level 5 Containment Sphere and turn it in.”]

Note: The “Haze Angel’s” traits will be obtained in another manner.

“Alright, alright, just in time…”

Colin came to his senses and glanced at the “Storage Room,” where he saw a Level 5 Containment Sphere marked with an “M” pattern.

He immediately took it out and threw it toward the other party.

With a snap, the containment sphere opened, and glowing chains shot out, capturing the “Haze Angel,” who put up little resistance, within. In the next second, it was whisked away by a transparent vortex.

It was after this that Colin took a deep breath, feeling the cold sweat soaking his back.

And at this time, he also realized something…

“Xu Duojin had said, it seems they value the ‘Haze Angel’ quite a bit here? Right, I forgot, didn’t quite catch that…”

Colin thought for a moment, then decided not to think too much about it.

The “Haze Angel” had just cut off the communication; he hadn’t heard anything, and that’s how things were.

Afterward, seeing that all the restricted areas within the bonfire coverage had seemingly disappeared, and the mission completed, Colin decided to return home via the mission route.

It was shortly after his departure that a group of officers clad in old-fashioned uniforms, wielding batons and whistles and bearing a special containment device much like an iron maiden, searched the area. Upon confirming that the other party had left, they broke into a torrent of curses.

Meanwhile, an operator, having swiftly reviewed the scene, turned pale and dialed a number:

“One piece of good news, one piece of bad news.”

“Tell me the good news first.”

“Every significant anomaly on the island has been eradicated.”

Upon hearing this, the person on the other end of the phone was taken aback, then said with a laugh, “It seems that as long as there’s this good news, no amount of bad news could affect me.”

But soon, after hearing the bad news, they could no longer laugh.

“About sixty percent of our terrestrial territory has been erased from this world, including the important containment subject ‘Haze Angel’…”

At the same time, in another place, Xu Duojin, having re-established contact with Colin’s phone and discovered that the other party had already returned to his own country, fell into a silence as deep as death.

Colin had gone back, so what was he to do?

Xu Duojin looked up, seeing the unfriendly foreign colleagues who had him tightly encircled, opened his mouth to say something, but the awkwardness lodged in his throat, and for a moment, he could not think of what to say.
