SCP Corporation: Contain Bonfire
Chapter 695 - 695 508

Chapter 695: 508 Chapter 695: 508 Various subsidiary protocols were still operating normally.

Just by this alone, the “Flame Bearer” or a high-level employee, even if only their brain arrived, with a mere thought, without moving any other limbs, could solve all problems.

But now, there has been no sight of the able “Flame Bearer” or high-level employee coming over; instead, a reservist has been sent, slowly solving issues bit by bit.

With each growth, solving a bit more, with each growth, solving a bit more…

Is it to train newcomers?

Training newcomers “King of Madness” is understandable, but using this incident to train them, could it be a bit…

It pondered for a long time, and finally found a phrase from the “human nature” knowledge base— “using a sledgehammer to crack a nut”?

Or is it for some other reasons that it has to be this way?

What exactly is the situation outside?

“King of Madness” tried to look outside, but couldn’t see anything. Venturing even a bit of power beyond the labyrinth was difficult.

He could only receive some vibrational information passed down from above…

However, his action, without seeing anything, drew in some other entities.

Some strange whispers began to come from all directions again…

“Do you really believe their lies? Human words cannot be trusted, and in the past, you were nothing but a lowly mongrel…”

“Just a few centuries, and you have already resigned yourself to them?”

“I have glimpsed, the universe has already changed, Bonfire Company is about to step off the stage of history…”

“Chaos Divinity will descend once more…”

“Assist us, let the era of supreme divinity return, together with the noble will of divinity, transcend the ultimate moment…”

“…”

“Misfortune!”

“King of Madness” waved his hand in his ethereal form, and all the murmurs disappeared completely.

“It was listening to you lot that I took advantage of a disaster for personal gain, which led to my confinement to the present, you’ve completely ruined me; and those two, who agreed not to betray, turned long ago…”

“A few centuries is not a long time, but have you ever been confined to the ‘Containment God Kingdom’ to try it for yourself?”

“Here, the time I have suffered through the torment has already exceeded ten million years!”

“As long as I can get out, as long as I can get out, just as long as…”

“King of Madness” murmured agitatedly, then suddenly burst into laughter:

“A dog? To be a dog of the Bonfire is the greatest honor!

“Unlike some stray dogs, who, even after being imbued with ‘human nature’ and having some sense of honor and disgrace, still run around outside, not knowing who their master is…”

“Sooner or later I will get out, and you can only rot here forever, finally to be taken back by the ‘Primordial Fire’ as kindling!”

He mocked those sealed Containment Subjects.

After returning to his domain, Colin didn’t mention the branch office anymore. After all, with the shielding in place and logic disconnected, it’s no use thinking more about it. Anyway, the matter was already noted in his little book—there would be plenty of time to settle scores after his return…

The daily routine of accepting displaced refugees, cultivating land, building houses, general sanitation improvement, and preparing for educational initiatives, among many other tasks.

“It still feels like we don’t have enough staff,” Colin remarked, looking over his domain. The rough outline of the town had pretty much formed; there was an indescribable sense of farming achievement.

Yet it still felt like it wasn’t developing fast enough.

Given that here fifty employees, along with their multitude of tools, were already performing to their limits, Colin had done all he could by continuously providing “Colorless Crystal” for seven days and nights without rest to replenish their energy. Additionally, with the use of various tools including the “Mark of the Fire Tree,” he helped to occasionally soothe their spirits so that they could rest for ten minutes and work the entire day.

But even so, with more and more tasks to deal with, manpower still seemed inadequate…

On the other hand, the number of refugees arriving kept increasing. With that came more conflicts, and everything started to feel stretched thin. Previous management methods couldn’t keep up and needed updating…

“Sigh, it really does drain one’s energy.”

Although Colin sat in front of a hot pot, eating while watching the employees working below, without directly participating in the labor, his heart was always with the frontline workers.

So the fatigue was the same…

“In the end, it’s still due to a shortage of people.”

“Now that I’m at a D+ level, the ‘special talent’ privileges haven’t been updated yet. Once they are, I should be able to pull in another group. Before that, I need to figure out a way to have them exert more labor.”

Colin pondered for a moment, currently giving his employees one or two hours to eat each day—

Could that be a bit too extravagant?

Eating, after all, could also be done during work hours. With the physique of the Extraordinary Ones, a few bites should be enough to fill them up…

No need to waste too much time, especially in special circumstances.

‘After all, each of them is a Transcendent with extraordinary abilities. With great power comes great responsibility. Having been fortunate enough to possess power beyond ordinary people, they should make contributions beyond ordinary expectations…’

Colin thought about how to bring this up with the others in a way that wouldn’t get him strung up on a streetlamp—oh, in a way that they would accept it.

‘And to think,’ once the Descent Protocal concluded and we returned to Earth, it had only been three hours. So essentially, I’m just asking them to work continuously for three hours, which shouldn’t be too much to ask.’

With that in mind, Colin felt much better about the situation.

However, at that very moment, he couldn’t help but think about those protagonists in novels.

Those who alone could stir up the winds and waves in another world with just a bit of knowledge in their heads, moving the era forward…

Colin truly admired them, unlike him, with so much power supporting him from behind, and still, many things felt difficult to handle.

If he had a couple of ‘protagonists’ as subordinates, things would probably be a lot easier.

After shaking his head slightly, Colin dismissed the thought and started to prepare for the upcoming communication with his employees, starting with D Level. No, D Level was already swamped with work, naturally one of their own.

“We’ll have a meeting later and let them suggest some new time schedules.”

After having some simple ideas, Colin didn’t dwell on it any further.

Soon after, as the wails of some employees rose, the new arrangements began to take effect, and Colin, along with a few people, went out to hunt the horrifying creatures nearby.

As well as spending daily time with Little Red and training his skills with Shana.

Seven days flew by quickly.

In the last half-hour before departure, some employees looked at Colin expectantly—he had said that after they increased their work effort this time, there would be a small gold nugget that could unleash a BUFF as a reward.

They had gotten one of those before.

After using it during their abnormal events, it was like using a Level 30 indestructible BUFF in a Level 10 dungeon; they could steamroll through the whole thing, leaving a profound impression.

Seeing their gazes, Colin looked at Shana, exchanged a glance, and distributed the “BUFFs,” which were about the size of soybeans and had been prepared beforehand.

“Seeing how much everyone wants this thing, perhaps I could consider putting it up for sale at my auction house?” Colin mused aloud to Shana upon witnessing this scene.

“I could, but, I don’t have enough mysterious materials, and gold is still very precious…”

“No worries, I’ll cover this part. You contribute the effort, I’ll provide the materials.” Colin waved his hand, as the mystic value of gold hadn’t been much explored on Earth.

It wouldn’t be difficult for him to obtain it, he just wasn’t sure whether it would be usable over here.

“In that case, I have no problem with it.”

Shana nodded, no longer objecting.

Creating the “Golden Sun” mark specifically for Colin was quite time-consuming and labor-intensive…

But these little ones were much easier to make.

She could casually spare an hour or so a day and make dozens of them.

“Okay, I’ll scope it out when I get back, see what kind of price would be appropriate.”

After a brief exchange, Colin and his group returned through the “Descent Protocol,” amidst the reluctant gazes of the others.

Ding—Ding—Ding—

The distant and ancient bell sounds slowly faded from his ears…

Colin returned to reality, and before he even had the chance to pull out the parchment, he immediately started recalling some matters related to the “branch office” during this Descent Project.
