Chapter 688: Chapter 505: 22,000 Points?!!!_1 Chapter 688: Chapter 505: 22,000 Points?!!!_1 “This is a rather widespread heretic force, with many branches of its existence. Most of them are located in coastal areas of various continents or on some islands…”
“Generally speaking, they are called ‘Sea Emperor’, ‘God of the Deep Blue Abyss’, ‘Doris from underwater’, ‘Savior of the Ocean’, ‘Southern Bodhisattva’, and so on. The specific nomenclature usually adapts to local customs and beliefs, but it’s essentially the same entity—at least current investigations indicate that the responses can be traced back to a single source…”
“However, just speaking of this ‘Southern Bodhisattva,’ we actually had one here too, but it has already been driven out by fire coverage.”
Xu Duojin pulled out a document and passed it to Colin, explaining as he looked it over.
“Yeah, the scale is quite large…”
Colin nodded, scanning the document in his hands—
It was a fascinating ancient existence with no specific physical form, nor an exact image. Essentially, it appeared as those who prayed to it conceived of it to be.
However, once the faithful gathered and unified their beliefs, their perceptions tended to merge.
The statue before him was the current manifestation of a subset of these people’s unified faith.
Colin just wasn’t sure why this group thought an octopus head looked imposing enough to sculpt their revered entity in such a pitiful, knee-hugging pose on a square stone.
After browsing the document, Colin set it aside and didn’t give it another glance.
Though he hadn’t made official contact yet…
Based on the faint traces of aura from the document, he couldn’t tell how powerful it was, but its seal seemed pretty tight.
“Are you suddenly investigating this because you have a mission?” Xu Duojin noticed Colin’s shifting attention from the document and asked, offering a tip:
“I was the one who drove them out initially. If you need anything, you can tell me directly.”“It’s nothing much, just a small matter.”
Colin waved his hand, indicating he didn’t need help—
Xu Duojin’s strength had not been revealed yet, but Colin estimated it to be about equivalent to three or five D Level operatives combined, certainly among the stronger ones like “Life Mentor Adorable” and “Master of the Fish Pond.”
Even so, if brought along and they encountered something, it would not be of much use beyond fighting minor foes.
And the official Extraordinary Ones…
Not to mention their strength, these people used their abilities at the cost of their lifespan.
Colin was genuinely concerned about bringing someone who looked about fifty but was actually only in their thirties and having them return looking more haggard than Old Master Wu.
Then, considering his current situation, only Ninth Level Personnel could provide effective assistance.
But with that ranking, they were strong…
Even with a favorable push, they might not make it back.
Just the act of maintaining sanity was enormously difficult for them.
However, after some thought, Colin said:
“It might be possible to dispatch some modern warships over there, I could use them when I need to later.”
While some anomalies could evade damage from conventional weaponry on their own, Colin could also use “Bonfire” to suppress the mystical attributes on them, revealing their bodies in reality and combining it with thermal weapons for efficient eradication.
Of course, this method could generally only be applied to anomalies with physical forms.
Some special anomalies have unique physical properties that are difficult to affect with such tactics, and there are even some that lack observable bodies altogether…
“Alright, I’ll think about it. Maybe we could conduct a peaceful exercise over there.” Xu Duojin nodded, not hesitating or finding it tough to agree to Colin’s idea of moving military power.
Perhaps over a decade ago, staging such a play would trigger all sorts of chain reactions.
But as the terror from anomalies grew worse, the status and influence of the Extraordinary Ones rapidly increased. Now, dealing with anomalies had become a top priority.
Under normal conditions, everything had to make way for the resolution of anomalies.
This event wasn’t geographically far and within their influence radius.
Even if there were objections, it didn’t matter if they couldn’t reach…
They just needed Old Master Wu to subtly hint that those making such requests would receive international assistance in clearing paths.
The technological value contained within the small box weighed tens of pounds was quite beneficial to everyone involved.
Add to that Colin’s special status within Bonfire Company…
To the extent that…
Although this young man hadn’t made many public appearances, there wasn’t a single power in the world benefitted by him that could afford not to give him face.
He could choose not to ask, but once he did, there had to be a response!
Xu Duojin had even heard that Old Master Wu was already assisting in obtaining personal authorization to use nuclear weaponry for Colin.
There was also a significant chance that it could truly materialize, making him the only individual with such authorization in the world.
But for now, there were still communications needed to reach a common consensus among nations to avoid a situation where Colin deploying a nuke leads to a reckless response that destroys the current ecological environment.
The necessary documents required thorough discussion, and only after this public notice period could any results come about.
Thinking of this, Xu Duojin looked at Colin and couldn’t help but inwardly marvel.
The gap between people really is wider than that between a person and a dog.
Not to speak of anything else, just the issue of nuclear warheads alone… if he had gone to Old Master Wu and mentioned he wanted to play with a couple himself, he’d probably get kicked so hard his brains would fly out.
