SCP Corporation: Contain Bonfire -
Chapter 684 - 684 503
Chapter 684: 503 Chapter 684: 503 Colin muttered to himself.
Of course, he also brought a set of seeds with him to “World Code-13”.
“Dealing with some anomalies, will arrive in the afternoon.” Xu Duojin’s message came back swiftly.
Colin glanced at it casually and then turned his attention back to the “Storage Room”. He found that this time the “Ring of Enduring Pain” had its item description updated.
The functional effect was quite similar to what the “Thorn Lady” had described, only now it was quantified with numbers to appear more precise.
“Seems like it hasn’t been graded, but by my estimate, it should also be one of the top items among the orange or purple ones.”
After reading it, Colin stored it away again.
Besides that, the nameplates and ashes in the “Storage Room”, as expected, were handed over.
As for the rest, there didn’t seem to be anything else worth noting.
He didn’t continue to look any further, but rather opened the Parchment Employee Exchange Hall as usual to secretly observe. He could see a bunch of people cursing about this and that, clearly very agitated…
“Damn it, this mission really sucks! They actually threw us in to get beaten to death by mobs of Mutated Bodies!”
“This is outrageous! Tens of millions of Mutated Bodies, and each of us has to fight hundreds or thousands, with just a damn hammer!”
“The key thing is, damn it, dying drops your rating, is this intentional by the company because they don’t want to give out good stuff?”
“Exactly, just over two thousand points, I feel like I could have made three thousand if I didn’t die!”
“Damn it, who was it that said they would break my hand before? I remember that voice. You better not let me catch you during a mission, or you’re going to regret it!”
“Hahaha, serves you right, who told you not to get on board earlier!”
“…”
“Ah, I really didn’t expect to actually come back through death in the end.”
Colin couldn’t help but laugh and cry at the same time.
Although he had guessed as much, actually seeing it still made him feel a bit overwhelmed.
However, looking around, it seemed that not everyone who remained had died and returned; some used the leftover terrain along with their items to barely scrape by and hang on until the end.
But such people were very few, less than five percent of those who undertook the mission at the time…
“They could be considered capable indeed.”
Colin felt that if there were to be dozens or even hundreds more missions like this, the people in the group could end up with experiences to rival those of the old employees from back then.
After watching for a while longer, he looked to see if there were any interesting items for sale.
Unfortunately, there didn’t appear to be anything worth buying…
“Next up is project number 18, ‘The Advent’, I need to give the Saintess a twenty-five thousand points cut for that, then there’s the courier mission on the 20th. Oh, and at the end of the month, there’s an official item trade mission.”
Muttering to himself, Colin didn’t feel like his schedule was particularly full, but neither was it empty.
He still wasn’t clear on the specifics of the courier mission…
It might be simple, or it might be difficult, but unlike the ‘Train Station Nine’ situation, the good thing about this mission was that it should be in the Earth world…
In that case, he could arrange for an aircraft carrier if needed.
Timing and location might be hard to say, but he ought to max out on cooperation.
Just as Colin was about to close the parchment, he suddenly saw a bold line of text pop up:
[Announcement! New function ‘Gene Compensation Panel’ is about to be updated and installed! All employees can unlock this function through ‘Character Profile’ by meeting respective requirements.]
….
“Huh? ‘Gene Compensation Panel’?”
Colin paused for a moment, then opened his “Character Profile”… his was already activated.
He had had this feature for quite some time, but since it required too many “Mission Vouchers”, even he found it difficult to fully satisfy the conditions for activation. Therefore, he had not really utilized it.
At most, he used its subsidiary function, which was for evaluating combat power.
He had previously used it on the “Thorn Lady”.
The results were visible during the early phases with “Akasha” and “Lavinia”, but later, when it came to the will-driven “Thorn Lady”, the results were all “?”
The reason might be that the opponent was too strong, or maybe they had some protection that prevented the inspection.
“I should leave this thing until the end to enhance. Right now, even if I max it out, it won’t make a huge difference.”
Colin took a quick glance and didn’t exhibit any emotional fluctuations.
However, compared to him, the chat channel was much more lively. After all, this was only the second time they had seen the company install a new function, and everyone was discussing it excitedly.
From their conversations, Colin roughly understood that their version seemed a bit different from his.
But the difference wasn’t particularly large…
For example, to initially open the panel, one had to spend fifteen hundred points and a Golden Mission Voucher. Then, the subsequent requirements for each upgrade were quite similar to his.
Both were on a level playing field.
The only difference might be the gap in personal ability.
If Colin wanted to accumulate enough to fill all the points in the “Gene Compensation Panel”, it wouldn’t be very difficult.
But for them… at least with their current progress, it would be a bit slower.
“Hope everything goes well for them.”
Colin grumbled, eyeing the chat messages. Many people spent a lot of money to unlock it, only to discover that the resources needed to upgrade were immense and that the improvements per upgrade were not very noticeable, which immediately frustrated them.
Of course, once the “Gene Panel” was unlocked, it meant an additional path, and overall, it did provide a decent enhancement.
