Chapter 653 - 653 485 The Big Foot from the Sky_1

Chapter 653: Chapter 485: The Big Foot from the Sky!_1 Chapter 653: Chapter 485: The Big Foot from the Sky!_1 After the terrifying cataclysm, vast amounts of grotesque flesh creatures began to roam the earth in droves…

In just a year, buildings and farmland developed over more than a decade had been completely abandoned, and the orchards that used to be all around had been replaced by chunks of flesh that took root in the ground.

A group of people shrouded in black robes laboriously made their way through this area dominated by countless twisted and mutated beings.

“That was close, the rain has stopped.”

The leader of the robed figures looked up at the sky, feeling immensely relieved in his heart.

Trailing behind him were more than twenty followers, bestowed with the power of “The Night”—although they wielded “The Night’s” force and wore black cloaks emblazoned with symbols of dusk, occasionally chanting “Praise ‘The Night'”…

But they knew they were not Believers of “The Night”; they were Rebels who had stolen this power, seeking to break free from this land and part ways with “The Night”.

‘If “The Night” truly descends, we will probably be purged in an instant.’

The leader in the black robe suddenly thought to himself.

Given their actions, once that entity arrived, it was almost certain that they could not survive.

They did not believe in the benevolence of “God”…

Those beings, unapproachable and beyond understanding, how could they possibly lend their power out of kindness?

Of course, there was also a chance that He did not care about anything at all.

Even if He descended, He might simply ignore them.

However, just because “God” might ignore them did not mean that those who had received His blessings would show them any mercy.

But no matter what, they had already embarked on this path.

According to the information obtained from the relics left in this world and the sensation of pure, icy darkness they felt during the “Eternal Night” ritual…

Under that intense suffocating pressure, it was hard for them to believe that “The Night” held any “mercy.”

Rather than “mercy,” they were more inclined to believe that when that great existence descended, all humankind would be engulfed.

In this regard, Akasha had already demonstrated…

She seemed to have seen something during the “Eternal Night” ritual, and afterward, she went mad for a while.

Then, the devoted lady known as the “Queen of the Night,” Queen Akasha, eventually chose rebellion.

Only, up to now, Akasha still could not articulate what she had seen back then.

“Once we cross this wasteland, we should soon see Akasha. According to her timeline, she should arrive during this period…”

By the side of the leader in the black robe, a subordinate who was well-versed in the route spoke, snapping his slightly confused mind back to focus.

“Let’s hope she brings us good news.”

The leader in the black robe sighed as he spoke.

Previously, to get Akasha into the relic she mentioned, quite a few Rebels died or got injured.

Apart from being intercepted by The Dusk Sect, there were also the various terrifying Mutated Bodies within the relic. But after breaking through, they did indeed encounter a special train car…

It was only after hunting a great number of Mutated Bodies and extracting an ungodly amount of tainted blood from them to serve as fuel that they finally managed to start the train…

According to her, it wouldn’t take more than three days to return to a fixed station.

Now, they were coming out just to meet Akasha.

But no sooner had he finished, someone on the side spoke up in a muffled voice, “What if Akasha doesn’t come back, and this endeavor fails…”

“Impossible.”

The robed figure shook his head: “Before we see her, don’t talk like that. We have to believe first…”

After a brief attempt to rally the team, the group continued to move forward at a steady pace.

With the unknowable properties of “The Night’s” power, they could still travel with ease across this land without the “rain.”

If everything went smoothly, in another three to five hours, they should be able to successfully rendezvous with the other party.

And then verify certain matters…

Whether the world outside truly exists, whether it is habitable, and whether there are other humans out there. If so, whether those humans are friendly and able to coexist, among other things.

Each of these matters was of utmost importance and significance for them!

Once they confirmed these things and could repeat the verification with others, the actions and goals of the Rebels would no longer be aimless.

More people would join them!

‘As long as we can confirm the outside world, we might even work together with some of The Dusk Sect, to venture outside together instead of being trapped here to die.’

‘This train, which has been idle for hundreds of years, is ready to start.’

The robed figure thought of Queen Akasha’s words before she left.

However, it was at this moment that he suddenly felt a strong, inexplicable sense of crisis surge within him.

“Scatter!”

The man in the robe yelled out in a low voice, and with just one word, the dozens of well-trained individuals realized something, their bodies dissolving into shadows as they scattered in all directions.

The very next moment was when it happened.

Beneath the ground, dozens of razor-sharp flesh spikes suddenly shot out, attacking everyone.

Although some were slashed open, most successfully dodged the assault.

“It’s the Mutated Flesh Mountain, and a considerably large one at that! Retreat quickly!” someone recognized what the attacker was.

At that moment, on the ground above, the earth bulged as a massive mutated mass of flesh burst forward.

It resembled a kind of spiky sea creature and, on appearance, its body bristled with a multitude of “spines” the size of baby arms, dense and numerous. With the Flesh Mountain’s contraction, they all shot out.

Even in “shadow” form, a few were still hit by the dense spikes and were instantly killed on the spot.

The others who dodged the onslaught had no time to rejoice when they saw dozens of fleshy tentacles stretch out from the Flesh Mountain. The seemingly soft limbs possessed a terrifying power that could not be ignored…

Their tips morphed into hands, or turned into spears, or became living corrosive liquid spray nozzles…

They simultaneously attacked everyone present.

“Damn it, when did a high-level mutated creature appear here!”

The team leader in the black robe cursed under his breath, his six or seven “Dark Hands” wielding various weapons and tools to cope with the formidable creature.

Normally, encountering such a creature would require at least five teams of his size to manage.

Only then could they handle this level of Mutated Flesh Mountain.

But now there was only him, and it was obviously very difficult to deal with it alone.

And what’s more troublesome was…

“Wooo…”

The Mutated Flesh Mountain’s spike-filled gaping mouth opened on the top and emitted a strange scream.

In the distance, massive vibrations could faintly be felt.

“It’s summoning the mutated bodies in the vicinity, you all need to withdraw immediately, or it will be too late! If you see Akasha, tell her not to come this way!”

“Break through to the east!”

“Leave the rest to me!”

Conveying the information to everyone through “Inspiration”, the team leader in the black robe blinked forcefully. When his eyes opened again, dark tears emerged from them.

“‘Dark Domain’!”

The entire area darkened in an instant.

Trapped in the pitch-black space, the Mutated Flesh Mountain went berserk, wildly flailing its tentacles, shooting various spines, and blood… it seemed unable to bear such silence, unable to endure such terrifying solitude, and so it began to go mad.

Seeing this, the others did not linger and immediately took the chance to escape.

Leaving only the black-robed team leader behind to hold off the anomaly…

A few minutes later, the darkness suddenly dispersed, and the figure of the team leader in the black robe fell from within it.

At that moment, he had only one wound on his body…

However, that wound was fatal, for it transected him beneath the ribs, cutting him in two.

“Did everyone escape? It seems my mission is complete…”

The team leader in the black robe murmured softly, looking at the now “insane” Flesh Mountain, his mouth curling into a mocking smile.

One day, they would leave this place and no longer come into contact with these things!

However, just as he closed his eyes to await death, he suddenly saw more than twenty of his subordinates return.

Shouting something.

The buzzing in the black-robed man’s ears was incessant, and he couldn’t hear clearly…

But it looked like they wanted to save him,

“Go! Don’t bother saving me; there’s no point… Hurry… go complete your mission!”

The half-torn black-robed man struggled to speak.

But before he could shout out those words, he suddenly saw a gigantic foot made of flame descend from the sky, stomping onto the Mutated Flesh Mountain.

With just that one stomp…

The Mutated Flesh Mountain that had nearly wiped them out exploded on the spot and turned into char within the spreading flames.

He strained to widen his eyes, lifting his head and saw a hundred-meter-tall Flame Giant emerge from the front. At the heart of the Flame Giant, a figure no larger than a grain of rice stood with arms crossed, looking down at him from a high perch.

Terrifying heat waves and a sense of oppression spread out together…

“Who is it?”

He whispered to himself, utterly shocked.

However, the next second, he realized a possibility!
