Chapter 643 - 643 479 The Cruel Truth Thats Hard to Say_2

Chapter 643: Chapter 479: The Cruel Truth That’s Hard to Say_2 Chapter 643: Chapter 479: The Cruel Truth That’s Hard to Say_2 Orange Cat asked Colin, with a face full of innocence, why he was asking such a question…

‘The truth is too cruel. Knowing too much isn’t very friendly to your mental health.’

Colin muttered to himself and brushed it off with a laugh.

After he spoke, he looked at the two people who were being healed by the “Fire Tree.” They were still unconscious, and he guessed it would be a while before they woke up.

Assured that they were not likely to die, he turned his gaze outside.

The empty space station platform was still deathly quiet, and he saw no immediate dangers…

Upon seeing this, Colin withdrew the flames covering the train. Less than ten seconds after withdrawing, some “passengers” emerged from the front carriage.

However, just two seconds after walking in, seemingly because they noticed Colin, who was like a giant fireball,

some of the figures unprecedentedly turned around to go back.

‘You think you can leave after just arriving?’

Colin ‘hmphed’ and, with a snap of his fingers, blocked the connecting doors at the front and back of the carriage with two firewalls.

The figures that couldn’t escape eventually resigned themselves to their fate and found seats.

‘Looking at it this way, the convenience of someone who can harness the power of the ‘Flame Bearer’ is great, but I don’t understand why this thing can ensure the train’s stable passage.’

Colin was puzzled, but unfortunately, his knowledge couldn’t explain this.

Once he made sure that there were passengers, Colin finally sat down to wait for the train to start and for the two aides to wake up.

‘With such severe injuries, can they really be saved?’

Orange Cat stared at one of their wounds and couldn’t help but murmur.

The vital signs of Vini, who said she could explain the situation, were somewhat stable.

But the other one had problems that went beyond internal injuries.

There wasn’t a single spot on her body that was unscathed; the crown of her skull was flipped open, revealing a red walnut-like brain pulsating inside, and half of her once beautiful face was torn off, leaving a ghastly and skeletal appearance.

In the torso area, from the abdomen to below the chest, a large chunk of flesh and skin was torn away, exposing guts that looked like noodles coated in tomato sauce or chili sauce, twitching inside. Slightly above, you could see a tomato-like heart weakly beating, along with organs not yet turned into lung soup gasping weakly…

The body had almost no intact bones, and it seemed the limbs were also broken in many places. Because there were no open wounds, the blood had accumulated, making them look like links of sausage.

As for the blood, many pools had already started to congeal on the ground.

Such a variety of injuries on a mere human would be enough to bleed out and die two or three times over, just from splitting the blood loss.

Only because of her strong powers could she last until now.

Overall, compared to the one beside her with an intact body, she was in slightly worse shape.

‘Tsk tsk, seems kinda dicey.’

The “Master of the Fish Pond” sat in a chair, smacking his lips as he observed those wounds.

He was still unaware of the real situation and wondered why they had ended up like this after such a short time he hadn’t seen them.

And these wounds… they probably weren’t caused by Brother Shunzi…

Otherwise, they would more likely be extensive burns, not this type of tearing.

However, just after he had spoken, the “Fire Tree” performing the healing didn’t seem pleased; as it was saving lives, these two good-for-nothings were doubting its skills?

Suddenly, a wizened face appeared from the tree trunk:

‘I used to be a senior doctor with Third Level A-class proficiency from the company! I am proficient in one thousand seven hundred and eighty types of human vitals, only a half step away from the specialist doctor’s license. How could I possibly fail with such superficial injuries! Young man! Are you looking down on me?!’

Upon hearing this, both the “Master of the Fish Pond” and Orange Cat were startled, then they drew in a breath of cold air and looked at the “Fire Tree” in horror.

‘…you can talk?!

‘Isn’t it normal for an old man to talk?’ The face on the “Fire Tree” looked disdainful.

Several branches were folded behind its back, hands clasped, as it adopted a pose with its back to the people, continuing to recite something akin to a defiant poem.

But just then…

‘Click.’

The sound of a revolver’s cylinder rotating, and the “Fire Tree” instantly became more alert.

‘How much longer before the people can be revived?’ Colin asked, casually holding the revolver, his tone amiable.

‘The one with worse injuries around two or three hours, the one with lighter injuries within half an hour…’

A tendril from the “Fire Tree” swept across the wizened forehead, miming a gesture of wiping sweat: ‘Of course, if you have a need, I can first repair the necessary areas to wake them up.’

“No need, base it on their physical condition,” Colin was not in a hurry.

“Okay…”

Having said that, “Fire Tree” continued to move its wooden lips without making a sound, as if hesitating.

“If you have something to say, just say it,” Colin spoke up.

“While healing, I found that their brains have suffered significant damage, and there might be some defects. Unless we have some old friends here to assist, or a high-level medical room, it’s not going to be easy to repair in a short time…”

“Fire Tree” said cautiously, afraid that the other party might get upset and deny him any chances of happiness.

“Let’s wake them up first.”

Colin nodded, not taking the difficulty to task.

After all, when Queen Akasha arrived here, even a walnut kernel might have been lost for a moment; a mere “Fire Tree” indeed might not be able to bring someone back in one piece.

After finishing, there was a moment of quiet in the area.

Colin looked outside uneasily; by now, the train had started moving.

After taking on “passengers,” there were no more “family bucket balloons” outside the window.

“Passengers” indeed seemed to provide effective protection from external threats.

“This thing, I wonder what’s so special about it.”

Colin shook his head, shifting his focus away and continued to wait.

About fifteen minutes later, the employee with the “Path of Progress·Vinnie” ID above her head, who had suffered lighter injuries, was the first to wake up.

She opened her eyes, first looking around in confusion, then quickly remembered, she had just shut her eyes for a brief nap before waking up again. It seemed like she might have been rescued?

That was when she suddenly noticed Queen Akasha next to her, severely wounded and wrapped in layers of branches, her eyes immediately reddened…

But before she could cry, a voice came from nearby.

“Now, tell us exactly what happened, why did you attack us before?”

Vinnie looked towards the voice, seeing a man surrounded by flames but not scorched examining her.

She quickly recalled some of the details before she fainted, watching the flames on Colin for a while, seemingly confirming something.

After about ten seconds, she began to explain the situation, bit by bit.

“Queen Akasha and I followed the Revelation to a special region where we found the broken train. Using it, we left The Eternal Land to seek help from someone destined to assist us, to save our people and to push our stagnant destiny forward…”

“But en route, Witch Laniweya from The Dusk Sect somehow discovered our plan and attacked us.”

“We were no match for the witch, and Queen Akasha was gravely injured protecting me. If it weren’t for her attempt to attack you and hastily disguising our identities to escape, perhaps, we wouldn’t have survived…”

“I am very sorry, our weakness has led to you being attacked…”

Vinnie’s back was filled with roots, making it hard for her to move, but she still did her best to bow her head in apology.

‘As I thought, it’s almost like I had speculated, we had been replaced…’ Colin nodded to himself, his brain operating at high efficiency to ponder several keywords in her story.

‘Revelation’, ‘The Eternal Land’, ‘saving’, ‘someone destined’, these on the face of it, have nothing to do with my mission, not even remotely related…

‘But why, when she mentions ‘someone destined’, does my spiritual intuition make me feel like she’s talking about me?’

‘Never mind, cleaning up messes is not something new to me…’

‘But the most crucial part is, could this ‘The Dusk Sect’ really be related to ‘The Night’?’

Colin was beginning to feel a headache coming on.

If he were to rank the enemies he least wished to encounter, “Night” would definitely be among the top.

After all, “Night” was at least as significant if not more significant than “Red Moon”. And fighting followers of “Red Moon” involved staking lives on the line, with participation being more important than success…

And all believers of “Night” he had encountered were incredibly powerful…

“This mission was clearly supposed to be a simple stop at the ninth station to fuel up, right?”
