Chapter 576: Chapter 447 “Dark Deep Sea Treaty”_1 Chapter 576: Chapter 447 “Dark Deep Sea Treaty”_1 “Oh, what a coincidence.”
Colin said offhand upon hearing the news.
Without much thought, he could roughly guess that this Emperor Level Deepwater Battleship was probably already on its way here before they entered…
He just didn’t know whether the elite squad that had infiltrated this place before was aboard it.
The Queen of the Sea Sirens was also somewhat surprised and turned her head to look at Colin, “Then… should we let them come over?”
This was a famously bellicose machine…
If it were normal times, they would never allow such things to enter.
After all, their relationship with the other side could not be said to be loving, it could at best be described as water and fire, not mixing.
First of all, they had some not-so-minor conflicts with those Pseudo-Humans, such as some of their kin being poached, wanting to seek revenge on the Pirates…
And it was the Federation that stepped in to prevent it and to intimidate them.
Although later, due to another “Queen of the Ocean Sirens” conducting a level of cooperation with the Federation,
the racial relations eased slightly, but not by much.Secondly, even if the relations eased, having such things approach could be dangerous; if they turned hostile, one slip could result in this place, along with its sacred ground, being taken and turned into a fish soup.
However, according to what Agent Mister said, it seemed this thing was coming because of him?
Then…
As the Queen was hesitating over her decision, she suddenly heard the Agent’s voice…
“I suggest, reject their request, let them stop outside the alert line, and we’ll go over ourselves…”
Seeing the Queen’s concern, Colin didn’t intend to make it difficult for them.
Though his visits here were few, through the intel from “Arsonist” and others, he also knew some information about this place.
He knew regardless of whether those guys had hostile intent or not, it was very inappropriate to let them through.
“Let’s do it Mister ‘Bonfire’s’ way.”
The Queen of the Sea Sirens instructed her subordinates, and after they left, she earnestly said, “Thank you for your understanding.”
“It’s nothing…”
Colin waved his hand and then said, “By the way, what’s the deal with those ‘Pseudo-Humans’? Why are they called ‘Pseudo-Humans’?”
As he spoke, he couldn’t help but think of those on Earth—
Those guys were still living like nobodies there, often a family member was about to die, they would take over the body, staging a “back from the dead” scene, taking over that body’s previous identity and so on.
Regular humans, even officials, found it difficult to spot them.
Colin wasn’t sure whether this situation was good or bad…
But for now, it seemed that because of this, families that should have fallen apart were also “revived.”
He was a bit skeptical it might be some sort of Containment Subject group that had turned over a new leaf and started a new life, but he wasn’t certain.
Yet before he could ponder further, the Queen, after listening to his words, thought for a few seconds and then said, “They have, to a certain extent, tainted their own genes. Over a long period, because of the combination with various anomalies, they are no longer so pure…”
“Tainted genes?” Colin repeated with surprise.
The Queen nodded, opened her mouth, and then, shaking her head, said, “I can’t really say much about it, but later I will accompany you there. Once you come into contact with them, you will understand what I mean.”
“Okay.”
Colin grew curious about this so-called genetic corruption, wondering how corrupted it could be for mermaids to say they’re not human.
In this regard, the group of four didn’t seem to know much; their recent missions were at most to inspect some floating “ancient” structures, and they hadn’t encountered proper humans from “World Code-4″…
All they knew was that the “Sea Sirens,” these mermaids, considered themselves to be human.
It seemed the corporation recognized this too.
Or rather, as long as any beings considered themselves human, the corporation would agree: you’re right.
They even had means to transform and assimilate a high-level lifeform into a human individual, issuing identity cards and the like, not to mention mermaids…
As for why the mermaids, who are human, have sharp teeth and fish tails along with other bodily appendages outside of common recognition, that’s not for in-depth scrutiny.
From another perspective, from their point of view, they probably had similar perplexities.
The term ‘Pseudo-Humans’ was probably related to humans not taking mermaids seriously, possibly colored by emotional reasons…
‘Of course, there could be other reasons too, seeing as the mermaids never called the Pirates ‘Pseudo-Humans’.’
But given the company’s attitude… ‘Pseudo-Humans’ should also fall within the category of humans.’
Colin mused internally, forming a rough guess.
…
Several hours later, in an open area of the ocean in front of the “Deep Sea Titan King” warship, Colin and others sat in a vessel that resembled a submarine but was obviously much more spacious, meeting up with a team sent from that warship…
Then, Colin finally saw the so-called “Pseudo-Humans”…
At a glance, aside from noting, perhaps due to environmental reasons, these people had elongated bodies with some minor differences, there didn’t seem to be anything amiss?
“Seems fine? Hmm?!”
While surprised, Colin suddenly heard… something wasn’t quite right inside these people?
First, he felt the heart, aside from the chest area, seemed to have other parts with a heartbeat-like rhythm, and in one body, there were multiple signs of life…
Nearly taking a breath, Colin could sense something akin to fungi.
