Chapter 529 - 529 427 Bisect Saintess Shana._1

Chapter 529: Chapter 427: Bisect “Saintess” Shana._1 Chapter 529: Chapter 427: Bisect “Saintess” Shana._1 “Nightmare Lantern,” within the hazy dreamscape.

“Time, halt!”

Whirr!

An invisible engine noise roared beside his ears, flames surged over Colin’s body as he watched ahead with a grave expression.

Six or seven incandescent light shadows, unable to move within the frozen time.

The reason he sensed six or seven, rather than an exact number, was that these clones from the “Light Chaser” were some visible, and some invisible.

However, Colin hesitated not, his revolver firing ceaselessly.

One shot each, he shattered all the light shadows, including the invisible one…

Yet, the dreamscape did not dissolve.

“It seems I haven’t successfully pinned down the main body, tough fight,” Colin sighed, and at that moment, he heard a ticking countdown nearby.

When the stasis of time ended, he saw, outside the range of the effect, a large group of Saintesses quietly observing him, simply impossible to kill.

This sight made Colin’s scalp tingle slightly.

Not long before, upon entering “World Code-13” and quickly settling some planned events, he met the “Light Chaser” whose true identity was the “Church of Light” Saintess Shana, already waiting in the small chapel.

Then, the tense battle training started once again.

The Saintess, as always, tested him first, examining his current combat situation.

Only then would she train him against various abnormalities—it was unclear where she got so many anomalies from, but to this day, Colin continued to encounter an ever-enriching variety without repeating any.

“Not bad, the intensity of your power is higher than before,” a disembodied voice lingered by his ear.

It seemed to acknowledge the improvements he had made over time.

Definitely, it was the kind of sound produced by the vibration of air…

Not some kind of mental message transmission.

However, Colin clearly didn’t see any of the thirty-odd blurry light shadows before him move their lips to speak.

“Are they all fake?” Colin couldn’t help but grumble to himself. One of the Saintess’s abilities was a multitude of light shadow clones, indistinguishable between real and fake.

You could deliver a blow to decapitate her, and only a regular clone would die…

But when she punches you, it’s a solid, real punch.

Even now, Colin still found it extremely difficult to discern which were real and which were fake.

“Heh.”

Colin took a deep breath; flames on his body spread like a carpet being unfurled, or like waves rising due to the wind, surging outwards in an attempt to entrap all the light shadows.

At this moment, he saw the clones around him starting to “flash.”

With each “flash,” they would move to another location in an incomprehensible manner…

‘This is it.’

Colin narrowed his eyes; the skill he wanted to covertly learn was “Flash.”

After he had mentioned it to the Saintess, she had not concealed her technique, demonstrating this ability to him in subsequent battles…

Letting him begin to deepen his understanding of this trick.

Focusing on it…

Colin suddenly felt an itch in his “Skill Grid,” a new skill was emerging!

A sensation appeared, and information surfaced in his mind.

[…Do you wish to spend One Thousand Points to learn it?]

“Yes.”

Without much thought, Colin made his decision promptly; then, a sudden surge sapped his mental energy.

[You have comprehended the skill “Flame Leap.”]

[“Flame Leap”: Allows you to “leap” to any flame point within a hundred-meter radius, up to seven consecutive times per hour. Each use requires one hour to recover.]

‘Finally, I have a teleportation ability too!’

‘It feels similar to Big C Teacher’s teleportation, doesn’t it?’

‘Too bad it’s not the “Holy Woman’s” unconditional teleportation, as it requires fire as a prerequisite, slightly lacking, yes, but still pretty good.’

Colin’s thoughts raced within.

Actually, many in the company had the “Flash” skill, but he did not, forcing him to rely solely on physical charges, sometimes feeling like he was the only “mythical beast” that couldn’t fly.

Just then, a faint sense of crisis suddenly rose…

“It seems like you might have learned something,” the ethereal androgynous voice sounded near his ear.

The Saintess, pausing momentously for him to “comprehend,” once again set into motion.

The next instant, Colin’s pupils constricted as he saw a light shadow, like a haunting specter, suddenly appearing before him.

A blindingly intense light burst forth from the shadow in an instant.

Even with his eyes closed, he felt the glaring light piercing through his eyelids, causing his eyes to ache.

All over his skin, areas directly hit by the light passed a severe burning sensation.

Colin felt as if he had been thrown into an oven.

He reached out, drawing in a great amount of flames back to his body for protection, which made things much more bearable.

It was then that the subtle sense of crisis suddenly became particularly intense.

Yet, due to a certain trait, even though there might be “death replay” in his mind, he had no energy to check it.

In a brief moment, he had no time to ponder, drawing his revolver and firing blindly behind him.

A shadow with a light-forged lance, aiming to impale him, could not evade in time and was killed outright.

But Colin was well aware that under such intense light, he would eventually be ground down to death.

Just like in the last training session…

“It’s just a shame I’m no longer the person I was half a month (actually seven days) ago,” Colin recalled the starship encounter and that enigmatic “Flame Bearer” who seemed to arrive yet not arrive, indescribable as being there or not, only describable with the term “as if present.”
