Chapter 486 - 486 409

Chapter 486: 409 Chapter 486: 409 “Could it have something to do with the ‘Flame Bearer’ superior who’s about to join our starship fleet?”

Upon hearing this, a C-level ‘Fate Propeller’ pondered for a few seconds before replying, “It might be, it might not be…”

“Your answer is as good as saying nothing. You guys who draw power from the ‘Book of Fate’ really… love to speak in riddles and enjoy giving everyone a startle… It’s no wonder you’ve been voted the number one group most people want to smack with a club each year.”

“Don’t sweat the details, it’s all good.” He waved his hand dismissively, revealing his teeth beneath his upper and lower lips, forming a smile that begged for a punch.

“Whatever…”

A high-ranking official, sitting mid-air, shook his head, then leaned back, stretching while speaking:

“After transferring so many ‘World Code’ personnel, I was hoping to get some rest after the mission, but now it seems that’s not going to happen…”

“Indeed.”

A C-level who hadn’t sat down, holding a thermos and wearing glasses, nodded in agreement:

“A pre-war reward, all D-levels get a minor rank promotion, and even from my perspective as someone who enjoys C-level benefits, it’s practically a one-way ticket…”

“But for all C-levels to get a major promotion, being shortlisted for B-level authority directly, it’s simply unheard of.”

“Plus, there’s going to be a ‘Flame Bearer’ superior parachuting in here later, no idea what for exactly…”

Hearing this, a ‘Fate Propeller’ of C-level spoke up: “If not for the pre-war reward, based on this setup, I’d guess it’s to deal with a Super First Class Life. But with the reward being so substantial… it’s hard to predict.”

Pre-war reward, a trip with no return.

The more generous the reward, the less likely to return alive…

Yet, even dealing with a Super First Class Life doesn’t justify such a cost.

Even they don’t know what’s going to happen next.

“Stop guessing; we’ll find out what we’re supposed to do once he arrives.”

A C-level who had been silent up till now interrupted everyone’s speculations, then frustratingly ran his fingers through his hair:

“Anyway, my task is to ensure, at any cost, that our starship can consistently produce a military force of ten million people, with immediate replenishment, no matter the losses. Who wants to volunteer for the Breeding Hall and give me a hand…”

“I can’t handle breeding duties, you’re on your own.”

The high-ranking official next to him moved his buttocks without hesitation and, before his colleague could reach out, switched to the other side of the couch.

“There are five days until the ‘Flame Bearer’ arrives. Let’s talk about something else… Hey, I managed to secure a ‘Protagonist’ life experience on the Mother Star for my daughter. Initially, I wanted her to experience what it’s like to have both parents as ‘Protagonists,’ but now it looks like we’ll all just have to follow the trend…”

“Ha-ha…”

“You’ve done well; a Mother Star Experience Card doesn’t come cheap. But it seems like there are quite a few people doing the same thing. With so many, won’t we end up with a world where ‘Protagonists’ are everywhere?”

“Looking at this situation, it seems the battle hasn’t started yet. I guess it’s still the historical imagery before the invasion. But this pre-war reward and the mention of a ‘Flame Bearer’ having been here before…”

Listening to their conversation, Colin muttered the key words to himself, faintly realizing that “Time Reversal” might stem from the “approaching” “Flame Bearer.”

Unfortunately, the group didn’t delve further into these topics, choosing instead to chat about other things.

And as time went by…

The elevator car, which had been moving for thirty minutes, seemed to finally reach its destination, the historical imagery on the couch growing dim.

Even Colin could no longer hear their voices clearly.

PS: Making up for yesterday, tonight’s update will be late. I’ll be writing all day for the national holiday, humbly asking for double-month tickets.
