Chapter 419: Chapter 383 “The Ancient God Hit List”! (6.2K words)_1 Chapter 419: Chapter 383 “The Ancient God Hit List”! (6.2K words)_1 With a few loud gulps, he finished off his pig trotter rice…

Colin retracted his thoughts from the minor task at hand and once again opened the “Storage Room” to check on his equipment status.

Items like the “False Mighty One,” “Analytical Lens” and the like were temporarily unusable; others such as “Mountain of Smiling Corpses” were operational but in a damaged state. Until they’re repaired, their attributes might be a little skewed…

As for the “Widow Yukionna,” as long as the “Yukionna” herself is fine, it doesn’t matter much if the ring is broken.

It’s just like walking a dog without a leash.

If the “Yukionna” gets playful and runs off, Colin might not have the time to fetch her back.

“Still, I need to choose and repair them at some point, but fixing them all to a usable state would probably cost tens of thousands of points, and to fully repair them, it would take twenty thousand…”

After glancing over the information for each piece of equipment, Colin sighed.

If he didn’t repair his orange gear, he’d still have more points than he could use, but that wasn’t possible…

The effects upon release would be stronger than the total effect of all the purple gear combined.

Shaking his head, Colin roughly memorized the condition of his equipment and then looked at a D Level Gene Compensation Medicine in the “Storage Room.”

The design was a test tube with a stopper, taken orally.

It was a reward from the Box Garden World or some other task settlement…

Which one exactly Colin had forgotten, and he was too lazy to ponder over it. As long as it was usable, that was all that mattered.

With a “pop,”

Colin used his thumb to flick off the stopper of the test tube, then brought the medicine close to his mouth and gulped it down in one go.

A faint taste slightly salty like tap water…

It was like drinking tap water with a few grains of salt added, void of any stimulation. As the liquid passed over his lips and down his throat, it felt very “smooth,” almost like ordinary tap water.

If it weren’t for opening his personal profile to see the panel indicating the usage of (1/3),

Colin would have doubted whether he had used a fake product…

“When I used this at F Level and E Level, it seemed like there was some feedback. The higher the level, the less feedback there seems to be. But if you pay close attention, you can still feel the body growing, like going through another bout of growth, and during this process, the connection with the company seems to be deepening…”

As thoughts flowed, Colin pondered over the next usage time, which should be a week after the medicine was fully absorbed.

If it weren’t for this limitation, he reckoned he could soon start on C Level tasks.

Afterward, Colin tidied up the room and took out the “Mark of the Fire Tree,” quickly scanning the contents again.

[Tip: Upon entering the “Dreamscape,” you will make contact with the active part of the Containment Subject within the mark. If you are not strong enough to gain its consent through normal means, you can use food or items as offerings in exchange for its assistance…]

“Oh, I didn’t look closely before. Did the previous employees provide it with offerings?”

Colin became interested upon seeing the word “offerings.”

He immediately returned to his bedroom, holding the “Mark of the Fire Tree,” his thoughts slowly sinking in.

Before long, Colin felt himself regaining consciousness in his dream. Looking around, the surroundings were shrouded in a mysterious, hazy grey fog, and beneath his feet was a stretch of tough, black soil.

“Huff…”

Colin took a deep breath and could faintly smell a slightly decayed scent in the air.

Without further thought, he followed a certain intuition, striding continuously forward.

Soon, Colin glimpsed through the hazy fog a vast, pitch-black tree rooted in the distance.

Upon a simple visual estimate, the tree stood at least thirty meters tall with a trunk width of four to five meters…

Standing before it, Colin felt like an insignificant ant.

He looked up at the lofty, cracked tree crown, which could be described as covering the sky, but it was bald, without a single leaf, revealing only a confusion of hair-thin branches…

“What sort of fire tree is this?” Colin muttered to himself.

However, no sooner had this thought crossed his mind than he heard a “rustle.”

Bright flames erupted from the dark tree crown…

A giant face emerged from the base of the trunk, opening its eyes. The wooden eyeballs looked up at him and spoke with a sigh:

“A million autumn dreams pass in slumber, aware not of the current year. Has another human entered this ‘Fire Tree Dreamland’? Well then, have you brought the offerings I require?”

Heh, it even comes with its own opening poetry…

Colin blinked, feeling the strength of the entity amidst the flames.

In an instant, the oppressiveness brought on by its colossal form eased.

It wants offerings at this level?

Colin bluntly said, “Fire Tree, I demand that you come under my command to assist me with my tasks to the best of your ability.”

Upon hearing Colin’s uncompromising words, the tree’s wooden eyeballs turned to him:

“Boy, do you know the consequences of speaking to the ancient one in such a manner?!”

As it spoke, a storm-like terrible presence bore down.

Who taught this thing social skills? The way it talks is so weird and annoying… Colin narrowed his eyes, sensing from the oppressive aura a hidden gaze observing him.

Before Colin could speak, the giant tree in front of him laughed mockingly again.

“Hehehe, the ancient one thought it was someone significant, but it turns out to be merely a D Level member! A mere D Level, laughable, truly laughable, oblivious to the vastness of heaven and earth…”

“Even though the essence of the ancient one is bound, just a slight effort is still the limit for your level!”
