(6K, mega chapter, seeking monthly tickets!)_4 Instead of remembering this when there wasn’t even a handful of Little Cats left, it had to be dragged out until now…
“Higher than the Golden Artifact…” each of the few murmured to themselves.
Then, “Little Chicken No. 7” let out a long sigh, “Sigh, this damn thing, feels hardly any better than dealing with an Out-of-Control Copy.”
“Hehe, looks like this time, we’ve got a not-so-small chance of becoming ‘former employees,’ or maybe even copies for the E level Personnel to farm…” “Fool’s Mushroom” laughed self-mockingly.
However, even though they felt an immense pressure, they hadn’t completely given up hope.
After all, according to Brother Shunzi, this task was not impossible to complete; it was just a tad bit difficult.
Of course, essentially speaking, this task existed because of Brother Shunzi in the first place…
But every Employee present had been salvaged by the company in their most desperate moment and had experienced plenty of incidents. They knew now was not the time to play the blame game, and as long as there was a glimmer of hope for victory, they couldn’t just give up.
As the exchange of intelligence deepened, time ticked away…
When the third hour arrived, Colin and the others noticed that a piece of paper had suddenly appeared next to the bonfire.
At the same time, an inspiration struck their minds:
“Throwing the paper directly into the bonfire to ignite it signifies the official start of the mission. If not thrown in, the mission will still officially begin after ten minutes, but somewhat more passively.”
“I’ll do it,” Colin said.
After speaking, Colin stepped forward, picked up the piece of paper from the ground, and threw it into the bonfire.
Whoosh.
The bonfire instantly set the paper ablaze.
Then, as if blessed with some power, the flame violently engulfed the paper and rapidly expanded at that moment, bursting into a conflagration that soared a thousand meters high, enveloping everyone present while continuously spewing flames into the sky.
The colorful auroras spinning in the sky gradually dissolved under the reflection of the flames.
Revealing a rift…
The surrounding landscape, at this moment, became even more distorted.
Everything presented itself in a vortex-like pattern…
There were numerous, differently-sized, twisty, colorful mineral crystals all around.
At this moment…
Colin and the others knew they had entered a deeper layer of the “Inner World.”
And at the same time, a complete map appeared in the minds of him and the other Employees present.
On this map, there were a dozen “X” markings, each containing one or more brighter red dots.
They were also located within one of those “X” markings.
“‘Markings’ are carriages, dots are employees. There are over thirty dots. It seems that not every Employee is in the ‘Inner World’; some are still on the surface…”
Colin almost immediately understood the meaning of these elements.
Then, almost subconsciously, he turned his attention to what should be a nine o’clock direction relative to himself, towards an “X” that was neither the farthest nor the closest.
There was a bright point larger than the “X” itself.
The task’s guidance simultaneously informed him…
That was the location where the Level C Employee had been.
“Let’s start—no, this is bad!”
As Colin spoke and was about to move, he suddenly felt a vibration in the strange, whirling world around him, followed by an extremely majestic and powerful surge descending from somewhere in the dome.
This aura was so terrifying that just sensing it made them feel their hearts palpitate.
“Crack…”
Within a sort of faint noise,
An image emerged in Colin’s mind: Above in the sky, part of the “vortex” bizarrely animated, then grew two hands and tore open a gash, revealing the profound darkness of outer space…
And within that profound darkness, a blood-red light appeared, and a fearsome entity nearly as vast as a celestial body was arriving.
Throughout its approach, many meteors or whatever was near it came to life…
Then, emitting strange praises, they followed and advanced together.
“What the hell, what the hell, what the hell, wasn’t it supposed to be the Followers of the Red Moon? Why is it the Red Moon itself?”
“Damn, it’s happening again? Damn, it’s happening again, damn me!!!”
In Colin’s head, two different voices of terror erupted from each hemisphere of his brain—
How on earth could we possibly defeat this thing if it’s coming in person?!
But, just as the blood-red light was about to shine through the gap, a vague mist emerged, blocking the bloody radiance, and at that moment, within the depths of the mist, a pale, monotonous sound of a train whistle blew from afar…
