Chapter 284: Chapter 282 Anthropomorphized Deep Sea Creatures. _1 Chapter 284: Chapter 282 Anthropomorphized Deep Sea Creatures. _1 Boom.
The sound of a headless, burning corpse hitting the ground momentarily brought Tao Tie back to reality. Staring at the soft, boneless body writhing on the ground like a mollusk, he realized what Colin had meant.
“You mean something invaded and imitated or replaced him?”
“If nothing’s gone wrong, then it should be correct.”
Colin nodded, took a deep breath, and was fairly certain that there were several independently moving individuals aboard the submarine.
At that moment, the voice of the Nano Intellectual Mechanism Maid resounded in his ear:
“Mr. Colin, I have detected that parts of the submarine have been drilled with tiny breaches. We have now confirmed our departure from the danger zone. Should we prioritize stopping and repairing the submarine’s hull?”
Could it be that they drilled in through these breaches? But these chunks of rock actually punctured the submarine; do the monsters here have some kind of critical hit bonus against the submarine?
As Colin’s thoughts flashed, he immediately ordered the Little Maid:
“Go ahead and fix the hull first, lest the submarine bursts apart later. I’ll take care of the things inside the submarine.”
He first glanced at the hall ahead to ensure no enemies were hiding, then headed straight towards Dog Brother and the others in the engine room, while Tao Tie followed behind him. As for “The Light Chaser,” he had disappeared again without trace.
However, they had only gotten halfway when Colin saw the figure of “Naming is Hard” frantically rushing toward them:
“Not good! Something has broken in!”
“Hmm.”
Colin looked at the figure, nodded, and then raised his fist, striking its head with a punch.
Immediately, the “employee’s” head exploded, and it fell to the ground.
The headless body transformed into some kind of invertebrate mollusk, constantly twisting on the ground like a bizarre humanoid starfish, but it didn’t last long before it quickly dried up under the flames…
With a thud, Colin kicked the corpse away and, as he approached the door of the engine room, heard his own voice:
“Dog Brother, what are you doing? Hurry up and open the door! The danger’s been cleared!”
“This time we are the real deal!”
It wasn’t just his voice; Tao Tie also heard his own voice and saw a suspected clone of himself frantically banging on the door, attempting to deceive the people inside into coming out.
When Colin arrived, the two imposters turned their heads to look at the original, their bodies began to tear, ready to launch an attack; but the next second, a surge of scorching flame engulfed the two monsters in a sea of firelight…
“Counterfeit goods really aren’t much good.”
Colin walked forward at an unhurried pace; it was unclear how strong these monsters were in attack, but their defense seemed pretty low.
Even now, Tao Tie following Colin still didn’t quite understand how Colin managed to instantly identify the enemies upon meeting them. These creatures sounded almost exactly like the originals, and even the scents they emitted were highly deceptive.
But the timing wasn’t right, and he didn’t rashly approach to ask.
“Open the door.”
Colin indeed had no intention of immediately explaining; flames surged around his body, and with his revolver in his right hand, he came to the door and, without a word, kicked the steel-reinforced watertight door twice.
Suddenly, there was a stir from behind the door.
“Are you really going to open it? What if it’s like before…”
“Yeah, hiss, how can you be sure…”
“No, this attitude, this familiar ‘knocking’ method, that’s right, it’s Brother Shunzi, I’ve never seen him use his hands to knock in my life!”
Muffled conversations came from behind the door; it seemed they had learned their lesson, but it looked as though they had solved the issue.
Soon, the sound of the watertight door’s bolts turning could be heard.
Dog Brother and two others appeared behind the door, looking somewhat disheveled. “Naming is Hard” had his arm’s skin corroded, with veins and bones exposed to the air, as if it had been soaked in sulfuric acid, visibly wincing in pain.
Behind them, several soft bodies cut into pieces were wriggling on the ground.
Colin first glanced over their heads to make sure the IDs were all present, then he looked behind them.
“That was close, the power room itself wasn’t too damaged.”
Colin sighed with relief, since the device was somewhat a nuclear one, if it were seriously damaged, who knows how much longer they would be delayed…
Then, a flame flowed out from under Colin’s feet, spreading towards those bodies that had not completely died off yet like ivy, completely eradicating them.
Following behind Colin, Tao Tie had also discerned something notable along the way; he noticed that these impostors all had one thing in common, that although they were well-disguised, they did not display the company’s ID over their heads.
Brother Shunzi probably acted on this basis when he made his move.
‘He’s really decisive. Even if I’d noticed, I might have been on guard, but I wouldn’t necessarily have been 100% sure, at least not so certain.’ Tao Tie reflected internally.
Unaware of what the man behind him was thinking, Colin, having dealt with the remnants of the monsters inside, turned his attention to Naming is Hard. He thought for a moment and took out an item from his pocket:
“Here… take this. Recover a bit on your own, and if possible, buy a BUFF from that guy.”
Naming is Hard took it handily and after seeing the information for the item named “Gluttony Power Mark,” he jerked his head up to look at Colin, his expression somewhat moved—
Although there was a collegial relationship among company employees, they generally wouldn’t really treat each other as comrades during missions.
After all, it’s not uncommon for colleagues to stab each other in the back to burst gold coins.
Colin’s gesture undeniably warmed his heart.
“Hurry up and recover, so you don’t slow us down later.”
Colin reminded with a frown. The reason he was willing to lend the item was simple: first, he didn’t want the other to become a real drag, and second, aside from needing to keep replenishing their stomachs, using the item wouldn’t cause any wear and tear.
In the end, if the other party really had any designs on his item, he had absolute confidence that he could teach these people how to behave in their next life and recover what belonged to him.
If he couldn’t beat those various abnormalities, could he really not beat a few small employees?
Facing Colin’s words, the employee thanked him sincerely, then asked, “How do I buy a BUFF from that F Level Employee?”
He didn’t yet know the specifics of how to go about it, but just as he spoke,
“The Light Chaser” appeared beside them in an unknown manner.
Following that, a considerate piece of information appeared before his eyes.
[Would you like to spend 500 points?]
“Ah, this…”
Colin pursed his lips on the side; this guy would go invisible when in trouble, and even he might not be able to find him, but as soon as someone wanted to shop, he’d appear in an instant.
Quite professional!
“Mr. Colin, the submarine’s hull maintenance has been completed.” The voice of the Little Maid with cat ears appeared at his ear.
“Then run a check on the submarine to see if there’s any fish that slipped through the net. If there aren’t any, continue with the plan.”
Colin silently gave the instruction, then glanced at “The Light Chaser” without a trace, quietly asking, “Still no way to handle him?”
The bodies of all present were more or less infiltrated with some “Nano Intellectual Mechanism,” but “The Light Chaser” was an exception; the nanomachines had never been able to start on him.
And it seemed that the reason they couldn’t get started wasn’t because they were detected, but because they simply couldn’t find his actual existence.
