SCP Corporation: Contain Bonfire -
Chapter 193 - 193 193 The Return to World Code-13_1
Chapter 193: Chapter 193: The Return to “World Code-13″_1 Chapter 193: Chapter 193: The Return to “World Code-13″_1 Moreover, after having continuously traveled until now, they really did need to rest and recuperate…
Qin Chuan glanced at Colin and the burn victim. Neither of them were Extraordinary Ones, and they were physically weak. If it hadn’t been for the buff boost from the supporters of Bonfire Company, they probably couldn’t have made it this far.
With that thought, Qin Chuan silently thanked the selfless help of the employees within Bonfire Company.
It would be nice if everyone were as willing to help others as they were.
“You two should find a spot to rest as well, and as for food, there’s some here.” Qin Chuan took off a backpack from an armed person and tossed it over.
Although there was plenty of food at the scene, they were not from this world, so they didn’t plan on trying the local food unless they were absolutely desperate.
Accidentally triggering something that could prevent their departure would not be ideal.
“Mmm, thank you.”
Colin opened the backpack and glanced inside to find an assortment of individual ration bags, with a rich variety of flavors, from pig’s trotters rice to roasted chicken and more.
After quickly solving their hunger problem, he found a corner to lay out some things and leaned back to sit down.
“There’s still about an hour left, and even if they don’t plan to rest, I guess I’ll have to find some excuse in a bit.”
Colin pulled out a “large-size” parchment, looking at it openly. The countdown to “World Code-13” opening had one hour left, meaning that although it was unclear what day of the week it was in this world, it should be around 11 a.m. on Monday in the outside world.
“However, judging from the fact that my thoughts don’t align with the content on the parchment, I should currently be in a non-mission status. Yet, I still can’t access things like the Interaction Hall, as if my network got disconnected, with only a few functions working.”
Suddenly recalling something, Colin pulled out a “will” from his “future self” to look at, which was also a parchment.
It appeared to have been issued by the “Bonfire Company” of this “future world,” but nothing on it could be accessed.
Colin pursed his lips, remembering that his “future self” mentioned that the Bonfire Company of this future or parallel world seemed to have encountered some problem, causing various functions to be disabled, and up to now, it was as good as waste paper.
Considering the events of the past few days, he speculated that the company must have been thoroughly compromised by an invasion.
“Nevertheless, I don’t know what level I’ve reached in this world. If I go by my current rate of progression, after more than ten years, I probably should have at least reached A Level, right?”
Colin made a guess but wasn’t too certain.
If the Storage Room function had still been active, he could have guessed based on the other person’s equipment level, but that obviously wasn’t feasible right now.
“It’s a pity, with some luck, I might have gotten more Golden Artifacts, or even higher-level rare items…”
Colin sighed inwardly; he was quite curious to take a peek at his own inventory to see what was inside.
But without dwelling on it much, he secretly took some food from this world and stashed it in his backpack. He wouldn’t eat it himself, but planned to have the people on the other side try it later.
Afterwards, he quietly put on the “Widow Yukionna” on his finger, silently asking her to take special care of his body during this sensitive time.
Otherwise, he might be clueless if his body got fouled up by something…
“Speaking of which, it’s a good thing those three robots that could detect anomalies broke down, else Yukionna would hardly dare to come out.”
Colin nestled in the corner with his arms folded over his knees, his head buried in his arms as if he had started to rest.
As time passed by, the countdown to “World Code-13” gradually reached its end.
Dong——Dong——Dong——
The distant and ancient bell tolling sounded in his ears after a long absence.
Billowing fog surged from in front of his field of vision…
In a moment of haze, Colin heard the crackling sound near his ears, shook his head, and saw himself in an empty, tidy church, with a large bonfire burning in front of him.
The flame was not fierce but brought an indescribable warmth and comfort.
“Directly inside the church this time?”
Colin was startled for a moment. He remembered that when he had initially fled, he had just left that city and, based on his past experiences, should have awakened nearby.
However, he didn’t dwell too much on this. Upon arriving here, he immediately felt something akin to a smartphone reconnecting to WiFi after a long disconnection.
It was at the very moment this feeling arose that lines of information appeared on my retina…
[Special Event — “Investigate the ‘Hague Research Institute.'” has been issued to the mission list. Please check it through the mission list.]
“Getting a mission right off the bat, and it’s related to the Hague Research Institute. As I suspected, the reason I didn’t receive any missions there last time was due to ‘disconnecting,’ or perhaps some other reason.”
Colin pursed his lips and opened the mission list in his mind to check it.
[Special Event: The scheme from the “Hague Research Institute.”]
[Description: A special Box Garden Space that is almost completely out of control.]
[Requirements: Find the files in the institute that contain reports on the various disaster events of this world.]
[Note: Completing this event will earn a high task reward.]
…
There wasn’t much content in the mission, but Colin was taken aback by the description that Bonfire Company used for that unfamiliar world — it was neither called a “future world” nor a “parallel world.”
Instead, it was referred to as a “special Box Garden Space.”
“‘Box Garden Space,’ if I remember correctly, implies that this world is artificial? Who could be so impressive…”
Colin was greatly shocked, but then again, it might not be “man-made,” it could also be “god-made.”
Right after that thought, he began to wonder, what was the purpose of creating this Box Garden Space?
As soon as this idea emerged, Colin had a vague guess within him — to seal away those various strange entities and keep them away from the normal world.
“However, there is no indication of how to leave this so-called ‘Box Garden World’; that’s troublesome…”
Colin shook his head but didn’t get too discouraged.
After all, according to these requirements, at least he had a direction, and when the time came, leaving should be achievable.
Of course, this assumed that the mission was not a trap.
“This must be a mission from Lady Bunny, but it’s not certain. However, it doesn’t matter, just be careful when the time comes…”
“Sigh, ever since I joined Bonfire Company, I’ve either been trapped here or there. When will I get a normal level assignment? I’m clearly just an E-level rookie.”
Colin let out a slight complaint, then gathered his thoughts and reviewed the mission requirements for “World Code-13.”
This time, aside from those point-earning missions, it was as Lady Bunny had said before, he was to represent Bonfire Company in this place, spreading branches and teaching salvation, collecting faith and such.
Of course, if he had any other ideas, like creating a kingdom, that would be fine too.
Bonfire Company didn’t care in what form he gathered followers, as long as he did not go against humanity, they only cared if he could complete his KPI.
Gathering his thoughts, Colin opened [Event Sixteen: Summon Subordinates] and summoned his three makeshift subordinates.
Whoosh…
Suddenly, pillars of fire in the church surged, spewing out two clumps of ashes at the base, which rapidly transformed into two human figures in mid-air, strikingly similar to his two previous subordinates.
Li Ming, Tang Ken…
After they appeared, they looked each other over, seeming to recognize their identities.
Then, they both looked toward Colin and greeted him simultaneously.
Colin nodded and turned his gaze toward the three o’clock direction; he could sense that another subordinate was probably less than five kilometers from here.
Beyond that, he could faintly smell from the air that there seemed to be a large group of people over there.
“First, lead the people back; ha, this time it’s not like the last, where I had to search far and wide for people.”
Colin breathed a sigh of relief.
This time the damn people were right on his doorstep; surely nothing could go wrong now, could it?
