Chapter 190: Chapter 190 Understanding This World_1 Chapter 190: Chapter 190 Understanding This World_1 “Some suspected human-contaminated creatures turn into black monsters with well-developed limbs and simple minds; they only prioritize attacking fire, not killing people first… And what kind of attack method is this, throwing stones?”

Colin watched the monsters picking up stones and, for some reason, felt like laughing.

Of course, it couldn’t be denied that the stones thrown by these creatures were indeed powerful, but not very efficient, at least not nearly as much as bullets.

“Against ordinary creatures, bullets and the like go ‘rat-tat-tat’, which is more convenient and saves time.”

Colin murmured to himself and didn’t continue to take action, except for the one that tried to sneak attack from the second floor earlier, the rest weren’t very capable.

After being blessed with “Purification Light”, the rescue team completely ignored the darkness, revealing everything in fine detail.

When the battle erupted, it took only a moment for more than twenty black, humanoid creatures to lie dead on the ground.

The stench of blood thick as in a slaughterhouse permeated the area.

Before long, Colin’s support team, except for one who unfortunately suffered a light injury from a thrown stone, all safely returned to Shelter No. 24 in the city center.

As for the group of survivors, out of the original thirteen, only eight remained alive. The other five were smashed to death and then dragged into the darkness by those twisted, black-skinned creatures…

Meanwhile, at the mall’s first floor, both parties stood on opposite sides.

For some reason, Colin could clearly sense an elusive hostility emanating from these people.

Even though they had clearly rescued this group, they could still feel their hostility.

As for the reason for the hostility, Colin and his team could roughly guess — these people might suspect they were from some research facility.

In the silent standoff, just as everyone was thinking about how to explain themselves to avoid being falsely accused by the local nefarious forces, a scream suddenly rang out.

“Ah!”

Wang Hu, who had passed out halfway, suddenly screamed out in pain as the agony of his broken knee woke him up again.

At that moment, his face was flushed red, sweat pouring down, while others around him were helping to urgently dress and straighten his wound.

“Take this, a fast-acting painkiller injection that also stops bleeding and fights infection; just inject it near the wound,” said one of the armed personnel, throwing a portable syringe to him after a nod from Qin Chuan.

Wang Hu, his mind still a bit fuzzy, stiffened for a moment before seeming to realize something, glanced at Colin and the others, then shakily reached out to pick up the syringe from the ground and injected it near his wound.

Given the strength of these people, he didn’t have to worry at all that they might poison the medicine or anything like that.

Because it was completely unnecessary; it was better to accept their help graciously and suffer less…

After a slight prick and less than thirty seconds, he quickly felt the pain signals from his nerves being blocked by the analgesic; other than feeling a bit of swelling at the wound, there was no other discomfort.

Wang Hu took a deep breath and nodded to the group, “Thank you.”

After that, he scanned the armed personnel’s sophisticated equipment before continuing, “Are you from the research facility?”

As these words came out, the breathing of the people behind him stalled, and the atmosphere immediately tensed up.

These people really held deep hatred for that shelter… Colin inwardly sighed; even in this vulnerable situation, they wanted to confirm if they were from the research institution rather than feigning ignorance.

It was evident that the hatred between the two parties might have reached an irreconcilable point.

“No, we are from official forces, the Special Operations Department, but we come from another province.”

Qin Chuan stepped forward to negotiate, but even after he’d finished speaking, the atmosphere hadn’t lightened much.

After all, only the officials had the capability to establish research institutes. Ordinary people simply didn’t have that kind of power on this land.

So, one could imagine what sort of elements the shelters consisted of.

“I understand your possible encounters, but we truly aren’t those people, not even remotely related…”

Qin Chuan glanced at Wang Hu’s attire, “If that military uniform is your own, then you should be able to understand our point, we are different from them.”

Upon hearing this, Wang Hu fell silent for a few seconds before speaking, “The envelopes left here by those people, you’ve found them, haven’t you?”

They weren’t certain, but they could feel that this group was squatting here so conveniently, it was very likely for them.

Otherwise, these people probably wouldn’t have taken action so soon…

Seeing Qin Chuan nod, Wang Hu didn’t hesitate to follow up, “What do you want to obtain from us? Do you require us to deliver undeveloped human embryos each month, or less frequently, or some other special experimental subjects?”

“Huh? Undeveloped human embryos? Less than a month old?”

Qin Chuan was about to speak up about wanting to know the location of the shelter, but he couldn’t help being shocked upon hearing this.

Seeing the surprised expressions on the faces of everyone present, Wang Hu knew that they must truly have little to do with those inhumane shelters.

Latter on, through his explanation, the group finally learned about the depraved acts committed by these shelters.

From time to time they would capture some of the survivors outside the shelters to conduct various experiments, like sending children to parents who had already half lost their sanity to see if they would kill, or providing some protection in exchange for regular delivery of people as experimental material…

And recently, they had heard that one of the shelter research institutes was collecting human embryos that had already been fertilized, requiring collection by their people around the one-month mark.

“This is truly inhuman!” someone cursed angrily.

“What are they collecting these for?” Colin couldn’t help but ask the reason.

“I’m not clear, but when it comes to the anti-human acts of these lunatics, most of the time there’s no good outcome. I’m not sure if there are any good people in other regions, but at least on the land of this region, there are none left…”

Wang Hu shook his head and then continued, “Let’s not talk about this, what do you want to obtain from us?”

Qin Chuan collected his emotions and said, “Find a place called The Hague Shelter, find a way to leave, do you know the exact location…”

“The Hague Shelter?” Wang Hu pondered for a moment and shook his head, “I’ve heard of it, but I don’t know the exact location. No, to be more precise, none of the remaining shelters in this region do we know the exact location of.”

Only a very few individuals knew the exact locations of the shelters, and most of the time, it was those people themselves who would come out.

“Not even one?” Colin inquired.

As long as they knew the location of any shelter, it might be possible to find other shelters through them…

So, for them, it didn’t matter which shelter they found, as long as they found one.
