SCP Corporation: Contain Bonfire
Chapter 127 - 127 127 Before the year 2044..._1

Chapter 127: Chapter 127 Before the year 2044…_1 Chapter 127: Chapter 127 Before the year 2044…_1 After wiping his face with a tissue and ensuring that there were no problems besides dry eyes, a sore throat, an aching mouth, a hungry stomach, and a throbbing headache, Colin planned to continue inquiring about the “Yukionna.”

He had to understand if the “Script Book” had left behind anything else besides inexplicably getting beaten up and uttering some perplexing words.

Just then, some information emerged in his mind.

[A new event has been added to “Team Promotion Mission.” Please check the “Mission Panel” for details.]

“A new mission from Bonfire Company?” Colin muttered, vaguely realizing that during that recent encounter, Bonfire Company must have obtained some information, otherwise they wouldn’t have issued a new mission.

Without much thought, he willed the “Mission Panel” open and saw the new events added to the team promotion mission.

[Event Four: Strive to enter “Rain City” by 3 a.m. tomorrow morning, taking advantage of the impending anomaly to investigate the level of pollution in that area. Current progress: 0%.]

Note: Please do not die within “Script City.” If you die, it means that you cannot leave this place before 2044.

[Event Five: Go to the home of the “Loafing Immortal” and resolve his current situation.]

Note: Bring along your teammates; although their strength may not match yours, Bonfire Company’s signal will be stronger and the information received more complete when they are present.]

[Event Six: Find and save more employees who have not yet died…]

Note: The company has always been adhering to the principle of not giving up on any employee that could be alive.]

After quickly browsing through the content of the new missions, Colin understood what he needed to do next.

“Entering ‘Rain City’ by 3 a.m., no wonder the ‘Script Book’ was so certain I’d go there—it had directly communicated with Bonfire Company?”

Colin guessed that during the encounter, that thing had probably bypassed him and spoken directly to Bonfire Company.

Of course, it could also be because he was like a humanoid camera; whatever he saw, the folks at Bonfire Company knew as well. Combined with their possession of more information, they would know how to proceed.

“But why can’t I leave before 2044? What’s the significance of that year?” Colin was puzzled. There were still a good ten to twenty years left until 2044, and if he were to get trapped here by accident, it would feel no different from being dead.

This time he wasn’t sure whether he had entered with his physical body or if only his soul was present.

If it were just his soul and his body was still lying at home…

Then, waiting a decade or more to get out, his body would probably be nothing but a skeleton by then, no, it would have already been reported by neighbors for reeking, then sent to the crematorium and burned to ashes.

“Event Five… so the one not present is the ‘Loafing Immortal’? And he’s been trapped at home?”

Colin pursed his lips, thinking, out of five people, just this one got stuck at home…

Really weak.

However, looking at the note for Event Five, wasn’t it subtly suggesting that these people were just mobile signal boosters or extra pairs of legs?

“Forget it, as long as they don’t significantly drag me down, it’s not a big issue. Besides, they’re actually not that weak…”

Colin wasn’t too bothered.

In fact, based on his observations, Dog Brother and the others’ strength was actually not weak, slightly stronger than Warden Calder from the Other World. Plus, each of them had some Bonfire Company gadgets, the specifics of which he did not know, so they couldn’t be considered too weak.

Then, his gaze shifted downward, and upon seeing the note for Event Six about “not giving up on any employee,” Colin couldn’t help but laugh—if they were fired, they would no longer be considered Bonfire Company employees, right?

“This Event Six, it feels just like when they built the ‘Bonfire Sacrificial Site,’ just using them to build a signal point?”

His seasoned experience allowed him to see right through the essence of the mission…

Of course, if everything went smoothly, these people could indeed be saved.

“Just don’t know how many survivors are left…”

As Colin spoke, he glanced at the window and noticed that it now had only a few cracks, and these cracks were healing over time, much like the flesh of a living being.

As for the events that transpired here, neither the “students” nor his colleagues seemed to have noticed anything.

Obviously, this must have something to do with the power that “Script Book” had just activated.

By observing their reactions, Colin estimated that the other colleagues, besides him, seemed to have not received any new missions.

“Is this a task Lady Bunny has specifically sent to me?”

Colin had a hunch, but he wasn’t certain.

[As seconds and minutes ticked by, the sound of the school bell signaling the end of classes was about to ring. What made everyone even more delighted was the announcement by the principal, due to certain reasons, that school would be dismissed early today…]

The content of the “Narrator” suddenly appeared before his eyes.

No sooner had Colin finished reading than the sound of a bell “ding-a-ling” rang in his ears, followed by the blast of a loudspeaker.

A gentle, mature female voice emerged from the campus broadcast.

Just as described by the “Narrator,” the principal mentioned that there might be a storm later, so school was ending early and everyone should go home.

“The power of the ‘Script Book’ is truly mysterious,” Colin thought to himself with a slight sense of intrigue, just wondering if using the “Book of Fate: Fragment” in tandem with the “Script Book” under a cooperative condition would still lead to being targeted…

If possible, to combine “Book of Fate: Fragment” with the “Script Book,” that would be invincible…

But without dwelling on it, Colin stood up, called his colleagues, and left the classroom, going to a corner of the corridor.

“Did you guys also find those notes in your textbooks?”

“Yes, but about that stuff—it says some stuff inside, do you think it’s credible?”

“Don’t know, it seems like fishing for bait. It might be a trick by ‘Passionate Paradise’ just to lure us there and kill us…”

“You remember what the brother of ‘Two-Faced’ said, right? Said everything is fake, might be about this…”

“Indeed, I feel our focus should be on tonight’s catastrophe…”

…You guys are behind on the news… Colin thought to himself with a murmur. If this were before, he’d probably be hesitating about whether or not to go…

But with insider information now, he thought for a moment, raised his hand, and when he saw the others stop their discussion and look over puzzled, he finally spoke:

“Folks, what we need to consider isn’t the question of whether to go or not…

“It’s how we should deal with trouble once we get there.”
